1 А Јов одговори и рече: Then Job answered and said,
2 Докле ћете мучити душу моју и сатирати ме ријечима? How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
3 Већ сте ме десет пута наружили; није вас стид што тако наваљујете на ме? These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
4 Али ако сам доиста погријешио, погрјешка ће моја остати код мене. And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5 Ако ли се још хоћете да дижете на ме и да ме корите мојом срамотом, If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
6 Онда знајте да ме је Бог оборио и мрежу своју разапео око мене. Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
7 Ето, вичем на неправду, али се не слушам; вапијем, али нема суда. Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
8 Заградио је пут мој да не могу проћи; на стазе моје метнуо је мрак. He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
9 Свукао је с мене славу моју и скинуо вијенац с главе моје. He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10 Порушио ме је отсвуда, да ме нема; и као дрво ишчупао је надање моје. He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
11 Распалио се на ме гњев његов, и узео ме је међу непријатеље своје. He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
12 Војске његове дођоше све заједно и насуше к себи пут к мени, стадоше у око около шатора мојега. His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
13 Браћу моју удаљио је од мене, и знанци моји туђе се од мене. He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
14 Ближњи моји оставише ме, и знанци моји заборавише ме. My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
15 Домашњи моји и моје слушкиње гледају ме као туђина; странац сам у очима њиховијем. They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
16 Зовем слугу својега, а он се не одзива, а молим га устима својим. I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
17 Дах је мој мрзак жени мојој, а преклињем је синовима утробе своје. My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.
18 Ни дјеца не хају за ме; кад устанем, руже ме. Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
19 Мрзак сам свјема невјернијем својим, и које љубљах посташе ми противници. All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20 За кожу моју као за месо моје прионуше кости моје; једва оста кожа око зуба мојих. My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21 Смилујте се на ме, смилујте се на ме, пријатељи моји, јер се рука Божија дотакла мене. Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
22 Зашто ме гоните као Бог, и меса мојега не можете да се наситите? Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
23 О кад би се написале ријечи моје! кад би се ставиле у књигу! Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
24 Писаљком гвозденом и оловом на камену за вјечни спомен кад би се урезале! That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
25 Али знам да је жив мој искупитељ, и на пошљедак да ће стати над прахом. For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 И ако се ова кожа моја и рашчини, опет ћу у тијелу свом видјети Бога. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 Ја исти видјећу га, и очи моје гледаће га, а не друге. А бубрега мојих нестаје у мени. Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
28 Него би требало да речете: зашто га гонимо? кад је коријен бесједе у мени. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
29 Бојте се мача; јер је мач освета за безакоње; и знајте да има суд. Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
