1 Ја сам човјек који видјех муку од прута гњева његова. I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 Одведе ме и оправи ме у таму а не на видјело. He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
3 Само се на ме обраћа, обраћа руку своју по вас дан. Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
4 Учини, те ми остарје тијело и кожа, потр кости моје. My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 Зазида ме, и опточи ме жучју и муком. He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 Посади ме у таму као умрле одавна. He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 Огради ме да не изађем, и метну на ме тешке окове. He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Кад вичем и вапијем, одбија молитву моју. Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 Загради путове моје тесанијем каменом, и преврати стазе моје. He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 Поста ми као медвјед у засједи, као лав у потаји. He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 Помете путове моје, и раздрије ме, и уништи ме. He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
12 Натеже лук свој, и метну ме стријели за биљегу. He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 Устријели ме у бубреге стријелама из тула својега. He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 Постах потсмијех свему народу својему и пјесма њихова по вас дан. I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 Насити ме горчином, опоји ме пеленом. He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
16 Поломи ми зубе камењем, ували ме у пепео. He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
17 Удаљио си душу моју од мира, заборавих добро. And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
18 И рекох: пропаде сила моја и надање моје од Господа. And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the Lord:
19 Опомени се муке моје и јада мојега, пелена и жучи. Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 Душа се моја опомиње без престанка, и поништила се у мени. My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 Али ово напомињем срцу својему, те се надам: This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 Милост је Господња што не изгибосмо сасвијем, јер милосрђа његова није нестало. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 Понавља се свако јутро; велика је вјера твоја. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 Господ је дио мој, говори душа моја; зато ћу се у њега уздати. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 Добар је Господ онима који га чекају, души, која га тражи. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 Добро је мирно чекати спасење Господње. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
27 Добро је човјеку носити јарам за младости своје. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
28 Сам ће сједјети и мучати, јер Бог метну бреме на њ. He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.
29 Метнуће уста своја у прах, еда би било надања. He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
30 Подметнуће образ свој ономе који га бије, биће сит срамоте. He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 Јер Господ не одбацује за свагда. For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
32 Јер ако и уцвијели, опет ће се и смиловати ради мноштва милости своје. But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33 Јер не мучи из срца својега ни цвијели синова човјечјих. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34 Кад газе ногама све сужње на земљи, To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
35 Кад изврћу правицу човјеку пред вишњим, To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
36 Кад чине криво човјеку у парници његовој, не види ли Господ? To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
37 Ко је рекао што и збило се, а Господ да није заповједио? Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?
38 Не долазе ли и зла и добра из уста вишњега? Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
39 Зашто се тужи човјек жив, човјек на кар за гријехе своје? Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 Претражимо и разгледајмо путе своје, и повратимо се ка Господу. Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
41 Подигнимо срце своје и руке к Богу на небесима. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
42 Згријешисмо и непокорни бисмо; ти не прашташ. We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
43 Обастро си се гњевом, и гониш нас, убијаш и не жалиш. Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
44 Обастро си се облаком да не продре молитва. Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
45 Начинио си од нас сметлиште и одмет усред тијех народа. Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
46 Разваљују уста своја на нас сви непријатељи наши. All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
47 Страх и јама задеси нас, пустошење и затирање. Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
48 Потоци теку из очију мојих ради погибли кћери народа мојега. Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 Очи моје лију сузе без престанка, јер нема одмора, Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
50 Докле Господ не погледа и не види с неба. Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
51 Око моје мучи ми душу ради свијех кћери града мојега. Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
52 Тјерају ме једнако као птицу непријатељи моји ни за што. Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
53 Свалише у јаму живот мој и набацаше камење на ме. They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
54 Дође ми вода сврх главе; рекох: погибох! Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.
55 Призивах име твоје, Господе, из јаме најдубље. I called upon thy name, O Lord, out of the low dungeon.
56 Ти чу глас мој; не затискуј уха својега од уздисања мојега, од вике моје. Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.
57 Приступао си кад те призивах, и говорио си: не бој се. Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
58 Расправљао си, Господе, парбу душе моје, и избављао си живот мој. O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
59 Видиш, Господе, неправду која ми се чини; расправи парбу моју. O Lord, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
60 Видиш сву освету њихову, све што ми мисле. Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
61 Чујеш руг њихов, Господе, све што ми мисле, Thou hast heard their reproach, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me;
62 Што говоре они који устају на ме и што намишљају против мене по вас дан. The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
63 Види, кад сједају и кад устају, ја сам им пјесма. Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.
64 Плати им, Господе, по дјелима руку њиховијех. Render unto them a recompence, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
65 Подај им упорно срце, проклетство своје. Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.
66 Гони их гњевом, и истријеби их испод небеса Господњих. Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the Lord.
