1 Како сједи сам, поста као удовица, град који бјеше пун народа! велик међу народима, глава међу земљама потпаде под данак! How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!
2 Једнако плаче ноћу, и сузе су му на образима, нема никога од свијех који га љубљаху да га потјеши; сви га пријатељи његови изневјерише, посташе му непријатељи. She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.
3 Исели се Јуда од муке и љутога ропства; сједи међу народима, не налази мира; сви који га гонише стигоше га у тјеснацу. Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.
4 Путови Сионски туже, јер нико не иде на празник; сва су врата његова пуста, свештеници његови уздишу, дјевојке су његове жалосне, и сам је јадан. The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
5 Противници његови посташе глава, непријатељима је његовијем добро; јер га Господ уцвијели за мноштво безакоња његова; дјеца његова иду у ропство пред непријатељем. Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the Lord hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.
6 И отиде од кћери Сионске сва слава њезина; и кнезови су њезини као јелени који не налазе паше, иду немоћни пред онијем који их гони. And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
7 Опомиње се Јерусалим у муци својој и у јаду свом свијех милина што је имао од старине, кад пада народ његов од руке непријатељеве а никога нема да му поможе; непријатељи гледају га и смију се престанку његову. Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.
8 Тешко сагријеши Јерусалим, зато поста као нечиста жена; сви који су га поштовали презиру га, јер видјеше голотињу његову; а он уздише, и окреће се натраг. Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.
9 Нечистота му бјеше на скутовима, није мислио на крај свој; пао је за чудо а нема никога да га потјеши. Погледај, Господе, муку моју, јер се непријатељ понио. Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O Lord, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself.
10 Непријатељ посеже руком на све драге ствари његове, и он гледа како народи улазе у светињу његову, за које си заповиједио: да не долазе на сабор твој. The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.
11 Сав народ његов уздише тражећи хљеба, дају драгоцјене ствари своје да окријепе душу. Погледај, Господе, и види како сам поништен. All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O Lord, and consider; for I am become vile.
12 Зар вам није стало, сви који пролазите овуда? погледајте и видите, има ли бола какав је мој, који је мени допао, којим ме уцвијели Господ у дан жестокога гњева својега. Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.
13 С висине пусти огањ у кости моје, који их освоји; разапе мрежу ногама мојима, обори ме наузнако, пустоши ме, те по вас дан тужим. From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me desolate and faint all the day.
14 Свезан је руком његовом јарам од гријеха мојих, усукани су и дођоше ми на врат; обори силу моју; предаде ме Господ у руке; из којих се не могу подигнути. The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
15 Полази Господ све јунаке моје усред мене, сазва на ме сабор да потре младиће моје; као грожђе у каци изгази Господ дјевојку кћер Јудину. The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.
16 Зато ја плачем, очи моје, очи моје лију сузе, јер је далеко од мене утјешитељ, који би укријепио душу моју; синови моји пропадоше, јер надвлада непријатељ. For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
17 Сион шири руке своје, нема никога да га тјеши; Господ заповиједи за Јакова, те га опколише непријатељи; Јерусалим поста међу њима као нечиста жена. Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the Lord hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.
18 Праведан је Господ, јер се супротих заповијести његовој; чујте, сви народи, и видите бол мој; дјевојке моје и младићи моји отидоше у ропство. The Lord is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.
19 Звах пријатеље своје, они ме преварише; свештеници моји и старјешине моје помријеше у граду тражећи хране да окријепе душу своју. I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.
20 Погледај, Господе, јер ми је туга, утроба ми се усколебала, срце се моје преврће у мени, јер се много супротих; на пољу учини ме сиротим мач, а код куће сама смрт. Behold, O Lord; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.
21 Чују гдје уздишем, али нема никога да ме потјеши; сви непријатељи моји чуше за несрећу моју и радују се што си то учинио; довешћеш дан који си огласио, те ће оно бити као ја. They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.
22 Нека изађе преда те сва злоћа њихова, и учини као што си учинио мени за све гријехе моје; јер је много уздаха мојих и срце је моје жалосно. Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.
