1 А Хирам цар Тирски посла посланике к Давиду и дрва кедровијех и зидара и дрводјеља да му саграде кућу. Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
2 И разумје Давид да га је Господ утврдио за цара над Израиљем и да се царство његово подиже високо ради народа његова Израиља. And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
3 И Давид узе јоште жена у Јерусалиму и изроди још синова и кћери. And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.
4 И ово су имена онијех који му се родише у Јерусалиму: Самуја и Совав, Натан и Соломун, Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 И Јевар и Елисуја и Елфалет, And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6 И Нога и Нефег и Јафија, And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7 И Елисама и Велијада и Елифалет. And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
8 А Филистеји чувши да је Давид помазан за цара над свијем Израиљем, изидоше сви Филистеји да траже Давида; а Давид чувши то изиде пред њих. And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
9 И Филистеји дошавши раширише се по долини Рафајској. And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
10 Тада Давид упита Господа говорећи: хоћу ли изаћи на Филистеје? И хоћеш ли их дати у моје руке? А Господ му рече: изађи, и даћу их у твоје руке. And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
11 Тада отидоше у Вал-Ферасим, и поби их ондје Давид, и рече Давид: продрије Бог непријатеље моје мојом руком, као што вода продире. Отуда се прозва мјесто Вал-Ферасим. So they came up to Baal–perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal–perazim.
12 И оставише ондје богове своје; а Давид заповједи, те их спалише огњем. And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13 А Филистеји опет по други пут раширише се по оном долу. And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
14 И Давид опет упита Бога, а Бог му рече: не иди за њима, него се врати од њих, па удари на њих према дудовима. Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
15 И кад чујеш да зашушти по врховима од дудова, тада изиди у бој; јер ће поћи Бог пред тобом да побије војску Филистејску. And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
16 И учини Давид како му заповједи Бог и поби војску Филистејску од Гаваона до Гезера. David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
17 И разгласи се име Давидово по свијем земљама; и Господ зададе страх од њега свијем народима. And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.
