1 Хоћу дакле да ви знате колику борбу имам за вас и за оне што су у Лаодикији и у Јерапољу, и за све који не видјеше лица мојега у тијелу, For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 Да се утјеше срца њихова, и да се стегну у љубави, и у свакоме богатству пунога разума, на познање тајне Бога и оца и Христа, That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 У којој је све благо премудрости и разума сакривено. In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 А ово говорим, да вас нико не превари слаткијем ријечима. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5 Јер ако тијелом и нијесам код вас, али сам духом с вама, радујући се и видећи ваш ред и тврђу ваше вјере у Христа. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
6 Како дакле примисте Христа Исуса Господа онако живите у њему, As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Укоријењени и назидани у њему и утврђени вјером као што научисте, изобилујући у њој захвалношћу. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Браћо! чувајте се да вас ко не зароби филозофијом и празном пријеваром, по казивању човјечијему, по науци свијета, а не по Христу. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 Јер у њему живи свака пунина Божанства тјелесно. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 И да будете испуњени у њему који је глава свакоме поглаварству и власти; And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 У коме и обрезани бисте обрезањем нерукотворенијем, одбацивши тијело гријеха меснијех обрезањем Христовијем; In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Закопавши се с њим крштењем, у којему с њим и устасте вјером силе Бога који га васкрсну из мртвијех. Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 И вас који сте били мртви у гријесима и у необрезању тијела својега, оживљео је с њим, поклонивши нам све гријехе, And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 И избрисавши писмо уредбе која бјеше против нас, и то узевши са сриједе прикова га на крсту; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 И свукавши поглаварства и власти изведе их на углед слободно, и побиједи их на њему. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Да вас дакле нико не осуђује за јело или за пиће, или за какав празник, или за младине, или за суботе; Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Које је све било сјен од онога што шћаше да дође, и тијело је Христово. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18 Нико да вас не вара по својој вољи изабраном понизношћу и службом анђела, истражујући и што не видје, и узалуд надимајући се умом тијела својега, Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19 А не држећи се главе, из које је све тијело с помоћу зглавака и свеза састављено, и расте за раст Божиј. And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
20 Ако дакле умријесте с Христом стихијама свијета, зашто се као живећи у свијету препирете: Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 Не дохвати се, не окуси, не опипај; које је све на погибао ономе који чини, (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 По заповијестима и наукама људскима? Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
23 Које је само по ријечи премудрост самовољно избране службе и понизности и нештеђења тијела, не за част каку, за пуњење тијела. Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
