1	세상을 이기는 믿음 예수가 그리스도이심을 믿는 사람은 다 하나님의 자녀입니다. 낳아 주신 분을 사랑하는 사람은 다 그에게서 태어난 이도 사랑합니다.	Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2	우리가 하나님을 사랑하고, 그분의 계명을 지키면, 이것으로써 우리가 하나님의 자녀를 사랑하고 있음을 압니다.	By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3	하나님을 사랑하는 것은 그분의 계명을 지키는 것입니다. 그분의 계명은 무거운 짐이 아닙니다.	For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4	그것은 하나님에게서 난 사람은 다 세상을 이기기 때문입니다. 세상을 이긴 승리는 이것이니, 곧 우리의 믿음입니다.	For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5	세상을 이기는 사람은 누구입니까? 예수께서 하나님의 아들이심을 믿는 사람이 아니겠습니까?	Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6	아들을 증언함 이분은 오셔서 물과 피를 거치신 분인데, 곧 예수 그리스도이십니다. 그는 물만이 아니라, 물과 피를 거쳐서 오셨습니다. 성령은 증언하시는 분입니다. 성령은 곧 진리입니다.	This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7	증언하는 이가 셋인데,	For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8	곧 성령과 물과 피입니다. 이 셋은 일치합니다.	And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9	우리가 사람의 증언을 받아들인다면, 하나님께서 하시는 증언은 더욱더 큰 것입니다. 하나님의 증언은 이것이니, 곧 하나님께서 당신의 아들을 두고 증언하여 주셨다는 그 사실입니다.	If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10	하나님의 아들을 믿는 사람은 그 증언을 자기 안에 가지고 있습니다. 하나님을 믿지 않는 사람은 하나님을 거짓말쟁이로 만들었습니다. 하나님께서 당신의 아들을 두고 증언하신 그 증언을 믿지 않았기 때문입니다.	He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11	그 증언은 하나님께서 우리에게 영원한 생명을 주셨다는 것과, 그 생명이 그 아들 안에 있다는 것입니다.	And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12	그 아들을 모신 사람은 생명을 가진 사람이고, 하나님의 아들을 모시지 않은 사람은 생명을 가지지 못한 사람입니다.	He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13	영원한 생명을 아는 지혜 나는 하나님의 아들의 이름을 믿는 여러분에게 이 글을 씁니다. 그것은, 여러분이 영원한 생명을 가지고 있음을 알게 하려는 것입니다.	These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14	우리가 하나님 앞에서 가지는 확신은 이것이니, 곧 무엇이든지 우리가 하나님의 뜻을 따라 구하면, 하나님께서는 우리의 간구를 들어주신다는 것입니다.	And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15	우리가 구하는 것은, 무엇이든지 하나님께서 들어주신다는 것을 알면, 하나님께 구한 것을 우리가 받는다는 것도 압니다.	And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16	누구든지, 자기의 형제나 자매가 죄를 짓는 것을 볼 때에, 그것이 죽음에 이르게 하는 죄가 아니면, 하나님께 간구하십시오. 그러면 하나님께서는, 죽을 죄를 짓지 않은 그 사람들에게 생명을 주실 것입니다. 죽을 죄가 있습니다. 이 죄를 두고 간구하라고 하는 말은 아닙니다.	If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17	불의한 것은 모두 죄입니다. 그러나 죽음에 이르지 않는 죄도 있습니다.	All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18	하나님에게서 난 사람은, 누구든지 죄를 짓지 않는다는 것을, 우리가 압니다. 하나님에게서 나신 분이 그 사람을 지켜 주시므로, 악마가 그를 해하지 못합니다.	We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19	우리가 하나님에게서 났다는 것을 우리는 압니다. 그런데 온 세상은 악마의 세력 아래 놓여 있습니다.	And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20	우리는, 하나님의 아들이 오셔서, 그 참되신 분을 알 수 있도록, 우리에게 이해력을 주신 것을 압니다. 우리는, 그 참되신 분, 곧 하나님의 아들 예수 그리스도 안에 있습니다. 이분이 참 하나님이시요, 영원한 생명이십니다.	And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21	어린 자녀 여러분, 여러분은 우상을 멀리하십시오.	Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
