1	여호사밧이 세상을 떠나서 그의 조상에게로 가니, '다윗 성'에 있는 왕실 묘지에 장사하였다. 그의 아들 여호람이 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.	Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
2	유다 왕 여호람(왕하 8:17-24) 여호사밧의 아들 여호람에게는 아우들이 있었다. 그의 아우 아사랴와 여히엘과 스가랴와 아사랴와 미가엘과 스바댜는, 모두 이스라엘의 여호사밧 왕이 낳은 아들이었다.	And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
3	여호람의 아버지 여호사밧은, 여호람의 아우들에게는, 은 금과 보물과 요새화된 유다의 성읍들을 후하게 선물로 주었고, 여호람은 맏아들이었으므로 왕의 자리를 내주었다.	And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.
4	그러나 여호람은, 아버지의 뒤를 이어 왕위에 올라 세력을 굳히자, 자기 아우들을 모두 죽이고, 이스라엘 지도자들 얼마도 함께 칼로 쳐죽였다.	Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.
5	여호람이 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는 서른두 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 여덟 해 동안 다스렸다.	Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
6	그는 아합의 딸을 아내로 맞아들였기 때문에, 아합 가문이 한 대로 곧 이스라엘 왕들이 간 길을 갔다. 이와 같이 하여, 그는 주께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였다.	And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord.
7	그러나 주께서는 다윗 왕가를 멸망시키려고 하지 않으셨다. 일찍이 주께서 그의 종 다윗과 언약을 맺으시고, 다윗과 그 자손에게서 왕조의 등불이 영원히 꺼지지 않게 하시겠다고 약속하셨기 때문이다.	Howbeit the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
8	여호람이 다스리는 동안에, 에돔이 유다에 반기를 들고, 자기들의 왕을 따로 세웠다.	In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.
9	여호람은 지휘관들을 이끌고 병거대를 모두 출동시켰다가, 병거대 지휘관들과 함께 에돔 군대에게 포위를 당하고 말았다. 그러나 밤에 에돔 군대의 포위망을 뚫고 빠져 나왔다.	Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.
10	이와 같이, 에돔은 유다에 반역하여 그 지배를 벗어나 오늘날까지 이르렀고, 립나 성읍이 반란을 일으켜 여호람의 지배에서 벗어난 것도 같은 무렵이다. 그가 이런 변을 당한 것은 주 조상의 하나님을 저버렸기 때문이다.	So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.
11	그는 또 유다의 여러 산에 산당을 세우고, 예루살렘 주민에게 음행을 하게 하였고, 유다 백성을 그릇된 길로 가게 하였다.	Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.
12	그래서 엘리야 예언자가 그에게 다음과 같은 글을 보냈다. "임금님의 조상 다윗의 주 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '네가, 유다 왕 네 아버지 여호사밧이 가던 길과 네 할아버지 아사가 가던 길을 따르지 아니하고,	And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
13	오히려 이스라엘 왕들이 걷던 길을 따라가고 있다. 유다와 예루살렘 주민으로 음행을 하게 하기를, 마치 아합 왕가가 하듯 하였다. 또 너는 네 아버지 집에서 난 자식들, 곧 너보다 착한 아우들을 죽였다.	But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, which were better than thyself:
14	이제 나 주가 네 백성과 네 자식들과 네 아내들과 네 모든 재산에 큰 재앙을 내리겠다.	Behold, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
15	또 너는 창자에 중병이 들고, 그 병이 날로 더 악화되어, 마침내 창자가 빠져 나올 것이다.'"	And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.
16	주께서는 또 블레셋 사람과 에티오피아에 인접하여 사는 아라비아 사람들의 마음을 부추겨, 여호람을 치게 하셨다.	Moreover the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:
17	그들이 유다로 쳐올라 와서 왕궁의 모든 재물을 탈취하였고, 여호람의 아들들과 아내들까지 잡아 갔다. 막내 아들 아하시야 이외에는 아무도 남겨 두지 않았다.	And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18	이런 일이 있은 뒤에, 주께서 여호람에게 벌을 내리셔서, 그의 창자에 불치의 병이 들게 하셨다.	And after all this the Lord smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
19	그는 오랫동안, 이 불치의 병으로 꼬박 두 해를 앓다가, 창자가 몸 밖으로 빠져 나와서, 심한 통증에 시달리다가 죽고 말았다. 백성은, 왕들이 죽으면 으레 향을 피웠으나, 여호람에게만은 향을 피우지 않았다.	And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
20	여호람이 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는 서른두 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 여덟 해 동안 다스리다가, 그의 죽음을 슬프게 여기는 사람도 없이 세상을 떠났다. 사람들이 그를 '다윗 성'에 묻기는 하였으나, 왕실 묘지에 장사하지는 않았다.	Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
