절	표준새번역 (1993)	King James Version
1	이 말은 옳습니다. 어떤 사람이 감독의 직분을 맡고 싶어하면, 그는 훌륭한 일을 바란다고 하겠습니다.	This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2	감독의 자격 그러므로 감독은, 책망받을 일이 없으며, 한 아내의 남편이며, 절제하며, 신중하며, 단정하며, 나그네를 대접하며, 가르치기를 잘하며,	A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3	술을 즐기지 않으며, 난폭하지 않고 너그러우며, 다투지 않으며, 돈을 사랑하지 않으며,	Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4	자기 가정을 잘 다스려서 자기 자녀들로 하여금 아주 공손히 복종하게 하는 사람이라야 합니다. -	One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5	자기 가정을 다스릴 줄 모르면, 어떻게 하나님의 교회를 돌볼 수 있겠습니까?-	(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6	또 새로 입교한 사람도 안 됩니다. 그러면 그가 교만해져서, 악마가 받을 심판에 떨어질 위험이 있습니다.	Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7	감독은 또한, 교회 밖의 사람들로부터도 좋은 평판을 받는 사람이라야 합니다. 그래야 그가 비방을 받지 않으며, 마귀의 올무에 걸리지 않을 것입니다.	Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8	집사의 자격 이와 같이 집사들도 신중하며, 한 입으로 두 말을 하지 않으며, 술을 탐닉하지 않으며, 부정한 이득을 탐내지 않으며,	Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9	깨끗한 양심에 믿음의 비밀을 간직한 사람이라야 합니다.	Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10	이런 사람들을 먼저 시험해 보고, 책망받을 일이 없으면, 집사의 일을 하게 하십시오.	And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11	이와 같이 여자들도 신중하며, 험담하지 않으며, 절제하며, 모든 일에 성실한 사람이라야 합니다.	Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12	집사들은 한 아내의 남편이며, 자녀와 자기 가정을 잘 다스리는 사람이라야 합니다.	Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13	집사의 직무를 잘 수행한 사람들은 좋은 지위를 얻게 되고, 그리스도 예수를 믿는 믿음에 큰 확신을 얻게 됩니다.	For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14	경건의 비밀 내가 곧 그대에게 가기를 바라면서도, 이 편지로 이런 지시를 써 보내는 것은,	These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15	내가 늦어지면, 그대로 하여금, 하나님의 가족 가운데서 사람이 어떻게 처신해야 하는지를 알게 하려는 것입니다. 그 가족은 살아 계신 하나님의 교회요, 진리의 기둥과 터입니다.	But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16	이 경건의 비밀은 참으로 위대합니다. "그는 육신으로 나타나시고, 성령으로 의로움을 인정받으셨습니다. 천사들에게 보이시고, 만국에 전파되셨습니다. 세상이 그를 믿었고, 그는 영광 가운데서 들려 올라가셨습니다."	And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
