| 2 | "A Dio appartiene il dominio e il terrore: egli fa regnare la pace ne’ suoi luoghi altissimi. | Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places. |
| 3 | Le sue legioni si posson forse contare? Su chi non si leva la sua luce? | Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise? |
| 4 | Come può dunque l’uomo esser giusto dinanzi a Dio? Come può esser puro il nato dalla donna? | How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? |
| 5 | Ecco, la luna stessa manca di chiarore, e le stelle non son pure agli occhi di lui; | Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. |
| 6 | quanto meno l’uomo, ch’è un verme, il figliuol d’uomo ch’è un vermicciuolo!" | How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? |
