| 1 | Cantico di Davide, quand’era nella spelonca. Preghiera. Io grido con la mia voce all’Eterno; con la mia voce supplico l’Eterno. | I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication. |
| 2 | Effondo il mio lamento dinanzi a lui, espongo dinanzi a lui la mia tribolazione. | I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble. |
| 3 | Quando lo spirito mio è abbattuto in me, tu conosci il mio sentiero. Sulla via per la quale io cammino, essi hanno nascosto un laccio per me. | When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. |
| 4 | Guarda alla mia destra e vedi; non v’è alcuno che mi riconosca. Ogni rifugio m’è venuto a mancare: non v’è alcuno che abbia cura dell’anima mia. | I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. |
