| 1 | Al Capo de’ musici. Sopra l’ottava. Salmo di Davide. Salva, o Eterno, poiché l’uomo pio vien meno, e i fedeli vengono a mancare tra i figliuoli degli uomini. | Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. |
| 2 | Ciascuno mentisce parlando col prossimo; parlano con labbro lusinghiero e con cuor doppio. | They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. |
| 3 | L’Eterno recida tutte le labbra lusinghiere, la lingua che parla alteramente, | The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: |
| 4 | quelli che dicono: Con le nostre lingue prevarremo; le nostre labbra sono per noi; chi sarà signore su noi? | Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? |
