1	홍해에서 여호와의 도움을 경험하다 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2	“이스라엘 사람들에게 말해 주어라. 뒤돌아 가서 비하히롯 앞 믹돌과 바다 사이에 진을 치라고 해라. 너희는 바알스본 앞, 그 맞은편 바닷가에 진을 쳐야 한다.	Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi–hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal–zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
3	파라오는 이스라엘 사람들에 대해 ‘그들이 아직 이 땅에서 헤매고 있구나. 그들이 광야에 갇혔어.’라고 생각할 것이다.	For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.
4	내가 파라오의 마음을 닫아 버려서, 파라오가 이스라엘 백성을 뒤쫓게 할 것이다. 그렇지만 파라오와 그의 온 군대에게 내 영광을 드러낼 것이다. 그러면 내가 여호와인 것을 이집트 사람들이 알게 될 것이다.” 이스라엘 백성은 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 했다.	And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord. And they did so.
5	이스라엘 백성이 달아났다고 누군가가 이집트 임금에게 알렸다. 그러자 그 백성에 대한 파라오와 그의 신하들의 마음이 달라졌다. 그들이 말했다. “우리가 도대체 무슨 짓을 한 것인가? 이스라엘을 내보내어 더는 노예로 부리지 못하다니!”	And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
6	그래서 파라오는 말에 전투수레를 메운 다음에 군대를 거느리고 나갔다.	And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
7	파라오는 아주 좋은 전투수레 600대와 이집트의 다른 모든 전투수레를 거느렸다. 전투수레마다 세 명이 타고 있었다.	And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
8	여호와께서 이집트 임금 파라오의 마음을 닫아 버리신 까닭에, 파라오가 이스라엘 사람들을 뒤쫓았다. 이스라엘 사람들은 손을 높이 들고 빠져나가고 있었다.	And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
9	이집트 사람들은 그들을 뒤쫓아 따라잡고, 바닷가에 진을 쳤다. 파라오의 전투수레를 끄는 말과 기마병과 군대가 모두 비하히롯 옆, 바알스본 앞에 진을 쳤다.	But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi–hahiroth, before Baal–zephon.
10	파라오가 가까이 오자, 이스라엘 사람들이 눈길을 돌려서 보았다. 저기, 이집트 사람들이 자기들을 뒤쫓고 있지 않는가! 그래서 이스라엘 사람들은 크게 두려워하며 여호와께 부르짖었다.	And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.
11	그들이 모세에게는 이렇게 따졌다. “이집트에는 묻을 데가 없어서 우리를 이 광야로 데려와 죽게 하려는 것입니까? 무엇 때문에 우리를 이집트에서 데리고 나온 것인가요?	And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12	우리가 이렇게 말하지 않았습니까? ‘이집트에서 노예 노릇이나 하게 우리를 그냥 내버려두세요.’라고요. 이 광야에서 죽는 것보다는 이집트에서 노예 노릇이나 하는 것이 우리에게 더 나았을 것입니다.”	Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13	그러자 모세가 백성에게 대답했다. “두려워하지 마십시오. 자리를 잡고 서서, 오늘 여호와께서 그대들에게 베푸시는 도움을 잘 보십시오. 오늘 그대들이 보는 이집트 사람들을 더는, 영원히 보지 않을 것입니다.	And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14	여호와께서 그대들을 위해 싸우실 것이므로, 그대들은 아무 말도 하지 마십시오.”	The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15	여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 왜 나에게 부르짖느냐? 이스라엘 사람들에게 앞으로 나아가라고 말해 주어라.	And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16	그리고 너는 너의 지팡이를 들어 올려서 손을 바다로 내뻗어라. 그래서 바다가 갈라지게 하여라. 그러면 이스라엘 사람들이 바다 한가운데 마른땅 위로 갈 수 있을 것이다!	But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17	보라, 내가 이집트 사람들의 마음을 닫아 버려서, 그들이 이스라엘 사람들을 뒤따라 들어오게 할 것이다. 그리고 내가 파라오와 그의 군대와 전투수레와 기마병들에게 나 스스로를 영광 가운데 드러낼 것이다.	And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18	내가 여호와인 것을 이집트 사람들이 알게 될 것이다. 내가 파라오와 그의 전투수레와 기마병들에게 나 스스로를 영광 가운데 드러낼 것이니까.”	And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19	이스라엘 진영의 앞에서 가던 하나님의 천사가 움직여 그들 뒤로 갔다. 그들 앞에 있던 구름기둥도 움직여 그들 뒤에 가 있었다.	And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20	이집트 사람들의 진영과 이스라엘의 진영 사이로 구름기둥이 끼어들었다. 그 구름이 있어 저쪽은 어두운데, 이쪽은 밤을 밝혀 주었다. 밤새도록 이쪽과 저쪽이 서로 가까이 가지 못했다.	And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21	모세가 바다 쪽으로 손을 내뻗었다. 그러자 여호와께서 밤새도록 세찬 사막 바람으로 바닷물이 뒤로 물러가게 하여, 바다를 마른땅으로 만드셨다. 물이 갈라졌다.	And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22	이스라엘 사람들은 바다 한가운데 마른땅으로 걸어갔다. 물이 그들에게는 오른쪽과 왼쪽에서 벽이 되어 주었다.	And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23	이집트 사람들이 뒤쫓아 와 그들을 뒤따라 들어왔다. 파라오의 말과 전투수레와 기마병이 모두 바다 한가운데로 들어왔다.	And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24	아침 일찍 여호와께서 불과 구름의 기둥 가운데서 이집트 진영을 내려다보셨고, 이집트 진영을 혼란에 빠뜨리셨다.	And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
25	여호와께서 전투수레의 바퀴가 빠져나가 수레를 몰기 힘들게 만드셨다. 그러자 이집트 사람들이 말했다. “이스라엘 사람들에게서 달아나자! 여호와가 그들을 위해 이집트 사람들과 싸운다!”	And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26	여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “너의 손을 바다로 내뻗어라. 그러면 이집트 사람들과 전투수레와 기마병들 위로 물이 다시 흐를 것이다.”	And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27	모세가 손을 바다로 내뻗었다. 그러자 바닷물이 다시 흘러 아침에는 보통 때처럼 되었다. 이집트 사람들은 그 물을 거슬러 달아나고 있었다. 그러나 여호와께서 이집트 사람들을 바다 한가운데서 뒤엎으셨다.	And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28	물이 다시 흘러, 이스라엘 사람들을 뒤따라 바다로 들어왔던 파라오 군대의 전투수레와 기마병을 모조리 덮어 버렸다. 그 가운데서는 하나도 남아나지 않았다.	And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29	이스라엘 사람들은 바다 한가운데 마른땅 위로 걸어갔다. 물이 그들에게는 오른쪽과 왼쪽에서 벽이 되어 주었다.	But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30	그날 여호와께서 이스라엘을 이집트의 손에서 구해 주셨다. 이스라엘은 이집트 사람들이 바닷가에 죽어 있는 것을 보았다.	Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31	또한 이스라엘은 여호와께서 이집트를 치신 큰 손을 보았다. 그리하여 백성은 여호와를 두려워하고, 여호와와 그분의 종 모세를 믿었다.	And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.
