1	요셉이 가서 파라오에게 알렸다. “저의 아버지와 형제들이 가나안 땅에서 양 떼와 소 떼, 또 자신들에게 있는 모든 것을 가지고 왔습니다. 지금 고센 땅에 있습니다.”	Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
2	요셉은 모든 형제 가운데서 다섯 명을 데리고 가서, 그들을 파라오 앞에 서게 했다.	And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.
3	파라오가 형제들에게 물었다. “그대들이 하는 일은 무엇이오?” 형제들이 파라오에게 대답했다. “폐하의 종들인 저희는 짐승을 돌보는 사람들입니다. 저희 조상들처럼 저희도 그렇습니다.”	And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.
4	형제들이 파라오에게 덧붙여 말했다. “저희는 이 땅에 나그네로 살려고 왔습니다. 폐하의 종들인 저희의 짐승들에게 먹일 풀밭이 없어서입니다. 가나안 땅에 큰 흉년이 들었기 때문입니다. 이제 폐하의 종들인 저희를 고센 땅에서 살게 해 주십시오.”	They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
5	파라오가 요셉에게 말했다. “그대의 아버지와 형제들이 그대에게 왔구려.	And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:
6	이집트 땅이 그대의 앞에 있소. 가장 좋은 땅에서 그대의 아버지와 형제들이 살게 하시오. 고센 땅에서 살아도 괜찮소. 그대가 아는 대로 그들 중에 유능한 사람들이 있으면 내게 있는 짐승을 돌보는 우두머리들로 임명해도 괜찮소.”	The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
7	요셉은 자신의 아버지 야곱을 모셔 와서 파라오를 만나게 해 드렸다. 야곱이 파라오를 축복했다.	And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
8	파라오는 야곱에게 “나이가 얼마나 되시오?” 하고 물었다.	And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou?
9	야곱이 파라오에게 대답했다. “제가 나그네로 산 햇수가 130년입니다. 제가 살아온 햇수가 그리 길지는 않지만 고단한 세월이었습니다. 조상들이 나그네로 산 햇수에는 미치지 못합니다.”	And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
10	야곱은 파라오를 축복하고 파라오 앞에서 물러났다.	And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.
11	요셉은 아버지와 형제들이 눌러앉게 해 주었다. 그들에게 이집트 땅에서 차지할 곳으로 그 땅 가운데서 가장 좋은 곳인 라메세스 지역을 정해 주었다. 파라오가 명령한 대로였다.	And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
12	또 요셉은 아버지와 형제들과 아버지의 온 집안사람들에게 양식을 마련해 주었는데, 아이들 수에 맞추어서 그렇게 해 주었다.	And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father’s household, with bread, according to their families.
13	흉년에 요셉이 소작 규정을 만들다 온 땅에 식량이 없었다. 몹시 큰 흉년이 들었기 때문이다. 흉년 때문에 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅의 고통이 엄청났다.	And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
14	요셉은 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에 있는 돈을 모두 모아들였다. 사람들이 사 가는 곡식값으로 치른 돈이었다. 요셉은 그 돈을 파라오의 왕궁으로 가져갔다.	And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.
15	이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에서 돈이 떨어지자, 이집트 사람들은 모두 요셉에게 와서 말했다. “저희에게 식량을 주십시오. 돈이 떨어졌다고 해서 저희가 총리님 앞에서 죽어야 한단 말입니까?”	And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
16	요셉이 대답했다. “그대들의 집짐승을 가져오시오. 돈이 떨어졌다니 집짐승을 받고 식량을 주겠소.”	And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.
17	사람들은 요셉에게 자신들의 집짐승을 끌고 왔다. 요셉은 말과 양과 소와 나귀를 받고 식량을 그들에게 내주었다. 이렇게 요셉은 그해에 사람들에게 온갖 집짐승을 받고 식량을 대 주었다.	And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
18	그해가 끝났다. 다음 해에 사람들이 요셉에게 와서 애원했다. “총리님께 숨길 것이 없습니다. 돈은 떨어졌고 집짐승은 총리님께 넘어갔습니다. 총리님 앞에 남아 있는 것이라고는 저희 몸뚱이와 농토밖에 없습니다.	When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
19	어째서 저희가 총리님 눈앞에서 죽어야 한단 말입니까, 저희가 저희 농토와 함께요? 식량값으로 저희 자신과 농토를 사들이십시오. 저희 농토와 함께 저희도 파라오의 종이 되겠습니다. 씨앗을 주십시오. 그러면 저희도 살아남고 농토도 버리지 않을 것입니다.”	Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.
20	요셉은 이집트의 온 농토를 사들여 파라오에게 바쳤다. 흉년이 덮치자 이집트 사람마다 자신의 밭을 팔았기 때문이다. 그 땅이 파라오의 것이 되었다.	And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh’s.
21	요셉은 백성이 요셉 자신을 섬기도록 만들었다. 이집트 국경 한쪽 끝에서 다른 쪽 끝까지 그렇게 했다.	And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.
22	다만 제사장들의 농토는 사지 않았다. 제사장들에게는 파라오에게서 받는 일정한 소득이 있었기 때문이다. 그들은 파라오가 정해 놓고 주는 것을 받아먹고 살았다. 그래서 그들은 농토를 팔지 않았다.	Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.
23	요셉이 백성에게 말했다. “보시오, 오늘 내가 그대들 자신과 그대들의 농토를 사서 파라오께 바쳤소. 여기에 그대들이 쓸 씨앗이 있으니 농토에 뿌리시오.	Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.
24	무엇이든 거기서 거두어들일 때마다 5분의 1을 파라오께 바치시오. 나머지 5분의 4는 그대들 것이 될 것이므로 밭의 씨앗과 그대들의 식량으로 쓸 수 있소. 그대들의 집안사람들도 먹고 어린아이들의 식량으로 쓸 수도 있소.”	And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
25	백성이 말했다. “총리님께서 저희를 살려 주시는군요. 총리님 마음에 든다면, 저희가 파라오의 종이 되겠습니다.”	And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.
26	이렇게 요셉은 이집트의 농토와 관련하여 오늘까지 통하는 규정을 하나 만들었다. 파라오에게 5분의 1을 바친다는 것이다. 다만 제사장들의 농토는 파라오의 것이 되지 않았다.	And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh’s.
27	야곱이 자신의 장례를 부탁하다 이스라엘은 이집트 땅 고센 지역에서 살았다. 그들이 거기에 눌러앉았는데 번성하여 몹시 많아졌다.	And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.
28	야곱은 이집트 땅에서 17년을 살았다. 야곱이 살아온 햇수가 147년이 되었다.	And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.
29	이스라엘은 죽을 날이 다가오자, 아들 요셉을 불러 그에게 말했다. “너에게 한 가지 부탁해도 된다면, 너의 손을 나의 아랫도리에 넣고 약속해 다오. 나에게 한결같은 사랑과 진실을 베풀어 나를 이집트에 묻지 않겠다고.	And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
30	나는 조상님들 곁에 눕고 싶구나. 나를 이집트에서 옮겨다가 나의 장례를 조상님들의 무덤에서 치러 다오.” 요셉이 대답했다. “아버지 말씀대로 하겠습니다.”	But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
31	야곱이 자기에게 맹세하라고 하자, 요셉이 그에게 맹세했다. 이스라엘은 침대머리에서 하나님께 엎드려 절했다.	And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed’s head.
