1	“소리쳐 보게나. 그대에게 대답해 줄 이가 있을까? 거룩한 이들 가운데 누구에게로 그대 나아갈 것인가?	Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?
2	어리석은 사람은 속상해하다가 목숨을 잃고, 어수룩한 사람은 시샘하다가 죽는다네.	For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
3	내가 보았지, 어수룩한 사람이 뿌리를 내리더라고. 그가 사는 곳을 나는 곧바로 저주했다네.	I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4	그의 자식들은 어떤 도움도 받을 수 없고, 성문에서 으스러져도 빼내 줄 사람이 없어.	His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
5	그가 거두어들인 것은 굶주린 사람이 먹어 버리고, 가시밭 가운데서 난 것까지 빼앗아 가 버릴 것이네. 그의 재산은 덫에 걸려들 것이네.	Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.
6	재난이 흙에서 비롯되지 않고, 괴로움이 땅에서 생기지 않네.	Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
7	사람은 태어나 괴로움을 겪고, 불티는 높이 날리네.	Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
8	나라면 차라리 하나님을 찾아뵙고, 하나님께 나의 일을 말씀드릴 텐데!	I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
9	하나님은 사람이 알아낼 수 없는 큰일들과 사람이 헤아릴 수조차 없는 놀라운 일들을 하신다네.	Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
10	비를 땅에 내려 주시고, 물을 들판에 주시는 하나님이시네.	Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
11	낮은 사람을 올려 높은 자리에 두셔서, 슬픔에 빠진 사람들이 아주 행복해진다네.	To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
12	꾀보들의 계획이 틀어지게 하셔서, 그들의 손은 도무지 성공하지 못한다네.	He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
13	지혜로운 사람들을 자기 꾀에 빠지게 하셔서, 뒤틀린 사람들의 의논이 어그러진다네.	He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.
14	낮에도 그들은 어둠과 마주쳐서, 한낮에도 밤중처럼 더듬는다네.	They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
15	그러나 가난한 사람을 칼에서, 그들의 입에서 구해 내 주신다네, 강한 사람의 손아귀에서!	But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
16	그리하여 기댈 데 없는 사람에게 희망이 있고, 나쁜 것은 입을 다물 것이라네.	So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17	이보게나, 복 있다네, 하나님께 벌받는 사람은! 그러니 샷다이(전능하신 분)의 징계에 맞서지 말게나.	Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
18	하나님은 상처 나게 하셔도 싸매어 주신다네. 때려 부수셔도 손수 고쳐 주신다네.	For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
19	여섯 가지 어려움을 겪더라도 그대를 빼내 주시고, 일곱 가지 재난이 닥치더라도 그대를 건드리지 못할 것이라네.	He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20	굶주림이 닥쳐도 그대를 죽음에서 벗어나게 해 주시고, 전쟁이 일어나도 칼날에서 벗어나게 해 주실 것이라네.	In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
21	혀의 채찍을 그대는 맞지 않을 것이고, 파멸이 다가와도 그대는 두려워할 필요 없다네.	Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22	폭력과 배고픔을 그대가 비웃을 것이고, 땅의 짐승을 그대는 두려워할 필요 없다네.	At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23	들판의 돌들과 그대가 맺어 둔 언약이 있고, 들짐승이 그대와 평화롭게 지낼 것이기 때문이네.	For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24	평화가 그대의 천막에 있음을 그대가 알 것이고, 그대 사는 곳을 둘러보면 엇나간 것이 없을 것이네.	And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
25	그대는 알 것이네, 그대의 후손이 많음을! 그대의 후예가 땅의 푸성귀 같음을!	Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26	그대는 살 만큼 살고 무덤에 들어갈 것이네. 낟가리가 제때에 쌓여 올라가는 것처럼!	Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
27	이보게나, 우리가 살펴본 것이 이러하네. 사실이야. 들어 보고, 그대, 깨닫기 바라네!”	Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
