1	욥과 친구들의 세 번째 대화 / 엘리바스의 말 데만 사람 엘리바스가 또 대답하여 말했다.	Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2	“하나님께 사람이 쓸데가 있겠는가? 슬기로운 사람도 자신에게만 쓸데가 있을 뿐이거든.	Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
3	샷다이(전능하신 분)께 기쁜 일이겠는가, 그대가 올바르다는 것이? 그분께 이득이 되겠는가, 그대가 그대의 길을 흠 없이 걷는다는 것이?	Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
4	그대가 하나님을 두려워한다고 해서인가, 그분이 그대를 나무라시는 것이? 그대와 함께 재판정에 들어가시는 것이?	Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
5	그대의 악함이 지나치지 않은가? 그대의 잘못에는 끝이 없는가?	Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?
6	그대가 형제자매를 까닭 없이 볼모로 잡았고, 헐벗은 사람들의 옷을 벗겼거든.	For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7	지친 사람에게 그대가 물을 주어 마시게 하지 않았고, 굶주린 사람에게 음식 대접하기를 마다했거든.	Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
8	힘이 있어 땅을 소유하고, 사람들에게 존중받으며 거기서 살아왔거든.	But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.
9	남편 여읜 여자들을 그대가 빈손으로 내보냈고, 부모 없는 아이들의 팔을 부러뜨렸거든.	Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
10	그러므로 그대 둘레에 올가미가 놓이고, 무서운 마음이 갑자기 그대에게 생길 것이네.	Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;
11	아니면 어둠을 그대는 보지 못하는가? 그대를 덮어 버릴 큰물을?	Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.
12	하나님이 하늘 높이 계시지 않는가? 맨 위의 별을 보게나! 얼마나 높이 있는가!	Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
13	그대의 말이 이러하네. ‘하나님이 무엇을 아시나? 짙은 어둠 가운데서 판가름하시나?	And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?
14	구름이 그분을 가려서 그분은 보시지 못하셔. 하늘의 둥근 천장을 거닐기만 하셔.’	Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
15	그대는 옛길을 지키려는가? 불의한 사람들이 밟던 길인데.	Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
16	그들은 그럴 때가 아닌데도 사라져 버린다네. 그들의 터가 강물에 휩쓸려 가 버린다네.	Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:
17	그들은 하나님께 이렇게 말하는 사람들이라네. ‘우리에게서 떠나 주세요!’ 샷다이(전능하신 분)께서 그들에게 하실 일이 무엇인가?	Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?
18	그분이 그들의 집을 좋은 것으로 가득하게 해 주셨다네. 그래도 악인들의 의논에서 나는 멀리 떨어져 있다네.	Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
19	의로운 사람들은 보고 기뻐하며, 잘못 없는 사람들은 그들을 비웃는다네.	The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.
20	‘우리와 맞서는 사람들이 정말로 뿌리 뽑혀 버렸고, 그들에게 남아 있던 것은 불이 삼켜 버렸다네.’	Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
21	맺힌 것을 풀고 그분과 사이좋게 지내게! 그렇게 하면 그대에게 좋은 일이 있을 것이야.	Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
22	그분이 입을 열어 베푸시는 가르침을 받아들이고, 그분이 하시는 말씀을 그대의 마음에 담아 두게!	Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
23	샷다이(전능하신 분)께로 그대가 돌아오면, 그대를 세워 주실 것이네. 그대는 나쁜 것을 그대의 천막에서 멀리해야 하네.	If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
24	금돌을 흙먼지 위에 버려두고, 마른시내 바위 가운데 오피르의 금을 버려두게!	Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
25	그러면 샷다이(전능하신 분)께서 그대의 금돌이 되시고, 그대에게 높이 쌓아 둔 은이 되실 것이네.	Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.
26	그때에 그대는 샷다이(전능하신 분) 때문에 즐거워할 것이고, 그대의 얼굴을 하나님께로 들 것이네.	For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
27	그대가 그분께 기도하면, 그분이 그대 말을 들으실 것이네. 그대는 단단히 약속드린 대로 해야 하네.	Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
28	그대가 무엇을 결정하면 그것이 그대에게 이루어질 것이고, 그대가 가는 길에 빛이 비칠 것이네.	Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
29	오만하다고 그대가 말하는 사람은 그분이 낮추시고, 풀이 죽은 사람은 구해 주실 것이네.	When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
30	잘못이 없지 않은 사람도 건져 내 주실 것이네. 그대의 손이 깨끗한 덕분에 그가 목숨을 건질 것이네.”	He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
