1	시드기야에 대한 말씀 여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 내려온 말씀. 그때 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르가 그의 모든 군대와 그가 다스리는 땅의 모든 왕국과 모든 민족을 거느리고 왔다. 그들은 예루살렘과 그 주변 모든 도시를 치고 있었다.	The word which came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,
2	(예언자) 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “너는 유다 임금 시드기야에게 가서 말해 주어라. (예언자) ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) 「보라, 내가 이 도시를 바빌론 임금의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그러면 그가 그 도시를 불로 태워 버릴 것이다.	Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire:
3	너는 그의 손에서 빠져나가지 못할 것이고, 틀림없이 붙잡혀서 그의 손에 넘겨질 것이다. 눈과 눈을 마주하여 네가 바빌론 임금을 볼 것이고, 입과 입을 마주하여 그가 말할 것이다. 너는 바빌론으로 사로잡혀 갈 것이다.」’”	And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.
4	(예언자) 그래도 여호와의 말씀을 들으십시오, 시드기야, 유다 임금님! 여호와께서 임금님에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “네가 칼에 맞아 죽지는 않을 것이다.	Yet hear the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the Lord of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword:
5	평화로운 가운데 죽을 것이다. 너의 조상들 곧 네 앞서 있었던 이전 임금들의 장례에서 사람들이 향을 태웠다. 그처럼 사람들이 너를 위해서도 향을 태울 것이다. ‘아이고, 주인님!’ 하면서 너를 위해 슬퍼할 것이다. 내가 직접 이렇게 말했다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ―”	But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the Lord.
6	예레미야 예언자가 유다 임금 시드기야에게 이 모든 말씀을 예루살렘에서 일러 주었다.	Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
7	바빌론 임금의 군대가 예루살렘과 남아 있던 유다의 모든 도시로 쳐들어왔다. 라기스와 아세가로 쳐들어왔다. 이 두 곳은 유다 도시들 가운데 요새로 남아 있었던 것이다.	When the king of Babylon’s army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.
8	해방 협약을 어긴 사람들 여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 내려온 말씀. 때는 시드기야 임금이 해방을 선포하기로 예루살렘에 사는 모든 백성과 협약을 맺은 뒤였다.	This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;
9	사람마다 자신의 히브리 남자 노예와 히브리 여자 노예를 내보내 자유롭게 해 주기로 한 것이다. 그 누구도 그들 곧 유다 사람인 형제자매를 노예로 부리지 못하게 하려 한 것이다.	That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.
10	그래서 모든 고위 관리들과 모든 백성이 이 협약에 따랐다. 저마다 자신의 남자 노예와 여자 노예를 내보내 자유롭게 하여, 더는 그들을 노예로 부리지 않기로 한 협약에 동의한 것이다. 그 협약을 따라 노예들을 내보냈다.	Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
11	그런데 그러고 나서는 그들이 되돌아섰다. 자신들이 내보내 자유롭게 해 주었던 남자 노예와 여자 노예를 다시 데려왔다. 그들에게 자신들을 섬기게 하여, 그들을 남자 노예와 여자 노예로 삼았다.	But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.
12	그러자 여호와께로부터 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 내려오는 일이 일어났다.	Therefore the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
13	(예언자) 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “내가 너희 조상들과 언약을 맺었다. 그들을 이집트 땅에서부터, 그들이 노예살이하던 집에서부터 이끌어 내던 날이었다. 그때 이렇게 말해 주었다.	Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,
14	‘7년마다 너희는 저마다 자신의 형제자매인 히브리 사람을 내보내 너한테서 자유로워지게 해 주어라. 그는 자기 몸을 너에게 팔아 너를 6년 동안 섬긴 사람이다.’ 그러나 너희 조상들은 나의 말에 따르지 않고 귀 기울이지도 않았다.	At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.
15	그런데 너희는 오늘 돌아서서, 나의 눈앞에서 올곧은 일을 하기로 했다. 저마다 이웃에게 해방을 선포하기로 한 것이다. 그러고는 나의 앞에서 협약을 맺었다. 사람들이 나의 이름을 붙여 부르는 집에서였다.	And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:
16	그러고 나서는 너희가 되돌아서서 나의 이름을 더럽혔다. 그들이 바라는 대로 내보내 자유롭게 해 주기로 한 남자 노예와 여자 노예를 너희가 저마다 다시 데려왔다. 너희를 섬기게 하여, 너희의 남자 노예와 여자 노예로 삼았다.”	But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.
17	(예언자) 이러므로 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “너희는 나의 말을 듣지 않았다, 저마다 형제와 이웃에게 해방을 선포하라고 했는데! 보라, 내가 너희에게 해방을 선포하겠다, ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 칼과 돌림병과 굶주림으로! 내가 너희를 땅의 모든 왕국에게 두려움의 대상이 되게 하겠다.	Therefore thus saith the Lord; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
18	나와 맺은 언약을 어기고 지나가 버린 사람들이 있다. 내 앞에서 맺은 협약의 조항을 실천하지 않은 사람들이다. 그들을 내가 둘로 잘라 놓은 송아지처럼 만들겠다. 협약을 맺을 때 그렇게 송아지 조각 사이로 그들이 지나갔다.	And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof,
19	유다의 고위 관리들과 예루살렘의 고위 관리들, 왕궁 관리들과 제사장들과 이 땅의 모든 백성이 송아지 조각 사이로 지나갔던 사람들이다.	The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf;
20	내가 그들을 원수들의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그들의 목숨을 노리는 사람들의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그들의 시체는 하늘의 새와 땅의 짐승에게 먹잇감이 될 것이다.	I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.
21	유다 임금 시드기야와 그의 고위 관리들도 원수들의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그들의 목숨을 노리는 사람들의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 너희한테서 물러간 바빌론 임금의 군대의 손에 내가 넘겨주겠다.	And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which are gone up from you.
22	보라, 내가 명령하겠다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 그래서 그들이 이 도시로 돌아와, 이 도시를 공격하게 하겠다. 그들이 이 도시를 차지하고, 불로 태워 버릴 것이다. 또 내가 유다의 도시들을 황무지로 만들어 거기 사는 사람이 없게 하겠다.”	Behold, I will command, saith the Lord, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.
