절	새한글성경 (2024)	King James Version
1	바빌론으로 사로잡혀 간 사람들에게 보낸 편지 다음은 예레미야 예언자가 예루살렘에서 보낸 편지글이다. 편지를 받아 볼 사람은 네부카드네자르가 예루살렘에서 바빌론으로 사로잡아 간 사람들이었다. 원로들 가운데 살아남은 사람들, 제사장들, 예언자들, 온 백성이 사로잡혀 갔던 것이다.	Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
2	편지를 보낸 때는 여고냐 임금이 예루살렘을 떠나간 뒤였다. 임금의 어머니, 왕궁 관리들, 유다와 예루살렘의 고위 관리들, 기술자들, 금속 세공인들도 함께 떠났다.	(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
3	편지를 손에 들고 간 사람은 사반의 아들 엘르아사였다. 힐기야의 아들 그마랴도 함께 갔다. 이들을 유다 임금 시드기야가 바빌론에 있는 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르에게 보냈던 것이다.	By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
4	(예언자) 전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 예루살렘에서 바빌론으로 사로잡혀 가게 하신 모든 사람을 두고 말씀하신 것입니다.	Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
5	(하나님) “너희는 집을 짓고 자리를 잡아라. 동산을 가꾸고 그 열매를 먹어라.	Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
6	아내를 맞아들여 아들들과 딸들을 낳아라. 아들들을 위해 여자들을 맞아들이고, 딸들은 남자들에게 주어라. 그러면 너희 딸들이 아들들과 딸들을 낳을 것이다. 그래서 너희가 거기서 불어나도록 해라. 줄어들어서는 안 된다.	Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.
7	내가 너희를 사로잡혀 가게 한 그 도시의 평화를 추구해라. 그 도시를 위해 여호와에게 기도해라. 그 도시에 평화가 있어야 너희에게 평화가 있을 것이기 때문이다.”	And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
8	(예언자) 전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “너희 가운데 있는 너희의 예언자들이 너희를 속이지 못하도록 해라. 너희의 점쟁이들도 그러지 못하도록 해라. 너희가 꿈꾸게 만들어 얻은 꿈 이야기를 듣지 마라.	For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
9	거짓을 그들이 너희에게 나의 이름으로 예언하고 있기 때문이다. 나는 그들을 보낸 적이 없다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ―”	For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the Lord.
10	(예언자) 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “바빌론에서 70년이 다 차면 내가 너희를 보살펴 주겠다. 그래서 나의 좋은 말이 너희한테 이루어지게 해 주겠다. 너희가 이곳으로 돌아오게 해 주겠다.	For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11	내가 여러 가지 계획을 잘 알고 있기 때문이다. 내가 너희를 두고 생각하고 있는 것들이다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 평화를 이루려는 계획이지 재난을 내리려는 것이 아니다. 너희에게 앞날을 허락해 주고 희망을 주려는 것이다.	For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12	그러면 너희가 나를 부르면서 나에게로 올 것이고, 나에게 기도할 것이다. 나는 너희의 기도를 들어 주겠다.	Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13	너희가 나를 찾으면 나를 만날 것이다. 너희 온 마음으로 나를 찾아와 묻는다고 하자.	And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14	그러면 내가 너희를 만나 주겠다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 내가 너희의 운명을 바꾸어 주겠다. 내가 너희를 모아들이겠다, 모든 민족한테서부터, 내가 너희를 쫓아내 보낸 모든 곳에서부터! ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 내가 너희를 돌아오게 해 주겠다, 거기로부터 내가 너희를 사로잡혀 떠나게 했던 바로 그곳으로!”	And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
15	(예언자) 여러분은 이렇게 말했지요. “우리를 위해 여호와께서 바빌론에 예언자들을 일으켜 세우셨구나.”	Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
16	여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 다윗의 자리에 앉아 있는 임금과 이 도시에 살고 있는 온 백성을 두고 말씀하신 것입니다. 이들은 여러분과 함께 사로잡혀 가지 않은 여러분의 형제들입니다.	Know that thus saith the Lord of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
17	전능하신 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “보라, 내가 그들 가운데로 칼과 굶주림과 돌림병을 보내겠다. 내가 그들을 썩어 빠진 무화과, 좋지 않아서 먹을 수 없는 무화과처럼 만들겠다.	Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
18	내가 그들을 뒤쫓아 가면서 칼과 굶주림과 돌림병이 닥치게 하겠다. 땅의 모든 왕국이 그들을 보고 겁먹어 떨게 만들겠다. 그들을 저주의 대상과 끔찍한 곳으로, 비웃음의 대상과 모욕의 대상으로 삼도록 만들겠다. 내가 그들을 쫓아내 보낸 모든 민족 가운데서 그렇게 하겠다.	And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:
19	그들이 내 말을 듣지 않았기 때문이다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 내가 그들에게 나의 종인 예언자들을 거듭거듭 보냈지만 너희는 듣지 않았다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ―	Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the Lord, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the Lord.
20	너희는 여호와의 말을 들어라, 내가 예루살렘에서 내보내어 바빌론에 사로잡혀 가 있는 모든 사람들아!”	Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:
21	(예언자) 전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 골라야의 아들 아합과 마아세야의 아들 시드기야를 두고 말씀하신 것입니다. (하나님) “이 두 사람은 너희에게 나의 이름으로 거짓을 예언하고 있는 사람들이다. 보라, 내가 그들을 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그러면 그가 그들을 너희 눈앞에서 쳐 죽일 것이다.	Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
22	그래서 사람들이 그들을 저주의 대상으로 삼을 것이다. 바빌론에 사로잡혀 가 있는 유다 사람들이 모두 이렇게 말할 것이다. ‘여호와께서 너를 시드기야와 아합처럼 만드시기 바라네. 바빌론 임금이 그들을 불에 타 죽게 했지.’	And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The Lord make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
23	그들이 이스라엘에서 못된 짓을 저질렀기 때문이다. 이웃의 아내와 잠자리하고, 나의 이름으로 거짓을 말했다. 내가 명령한 것도 아니고 알리려 한 것도 아닌 말을 했다. 내가 바로 그 증인이다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ―”	Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the Lord.
24	네헬람 사람 스마야를 벌하실 것이다 (하나님) “너는 네헬람 사람 스마야에게 이렇게 말해 주어라.	Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,
25	(예언자) ‘전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) 「바로 네가 너의 이름으로 예루살렘에 있는 온 백성에게 편지를 보냈구나. 마아세야의 아들 스바냐 제사장과 모든 제사장에게도 보냈구나. 편지 내용은 이러했지.	Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
26	『여호와께서 여호야다 제사장 대신에 그대 스바냐를 제사장으로 삼아 여호와의 집을 돌보게 하셨습니다. 미친 듯이 예언하는 사람이 있으면 그가 누구든 그를 형틀에 묶고 목에 칼을 씌우도록 하셨습니다.	The Lord hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the Lord, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.
27	이제 무슨 까닭으로 아나돗 사람 예레미야를 꾸짖지 않습니까, 여러분에게 예언하고 있는 그 사람을요?	Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?
28	그가 바빌론에 있는 우리에게 편지를 보내왔습니다. 사로잡혀 와 사는 기간이 길어질 것이므로 집을 짓고 자리를 잡으라고, 동산을 가꾸고 그 열매를 먹으라고 합니다.』」’”	For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
29	스바냐 제사장이 이 편지를 예레미야 예언자의 귀에 들리도록 읽어 주었다.	And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
30	그때 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 내려오는 일이 일어났다.	Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah, saying,
31	(하나님) “사로잡혀 가 있는 모든 사람에게 사람을 보내 말해 주어라. (예언자) ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 네헬람 사람 스마야를 두고 말씀하신 것입니다. (하나님) 「스마야는 내가 그를 보낸 적이 없는데도 너희에게 예언하여 너희가 거짓을 믿게 했구나.」	Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the Lord concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:
32	(예언자) 이러므로 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) 「보라, 내가 네헬람 사람 스마야와 그의 후손을 벌하겠다. 그에게는 이 백성 가운데 자리 잡을 후손이 하나도 없을 것이다. 내가 나의 백성에게 베풀 좋은 일을 그는 보지 못할 것이다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ―」 (예언자) 스마야가 틀린 말을 하여 여호와를 거슬렀기 때문입니다.’”	Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the Lord; because he hath taught rebellion against the Lord.
