1	예후가 이스라엘 임금이 되다 엘리사 예언자는 예언자 무리 가운데 한 사람을 불러서 말했다. “허리를 묶고, 손에 이 기름병을 들고, 길르앗의 라못으로 가시오.	And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramoth–gilead:
2	거기 가서 여호사밧의 아들이자 님시의 손자인 예후를 만나 보시오. 안에 들어가 함께 있는 사람들 사이에서 그를 일으켜 세워, 가장 깊숙한 방으로 데려가시오.	And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;
3	기름병을 들고 그의 머리에 부으며 말하시오. ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 「내가 너에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘을 다스리는 임금으로 세운다.」’ 그런 다음 문을 열고 달아나시오. 꾸물거리면 안 되오.”	Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.
4	예언자인 그 젊은이는 길르앗의 라못으로 갔다.	So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramoth–gilead.
5	그가 가서 보니 군대 지휘관들이 앉아 있었다. 그가 말했다. “지휘관님께 드릴 말씀이 있습니다.” 예후가 말했다. “우리 가운데 누구한테 하는 말입니까?” 그가 말했다. “바로 지휘관님입니다.”	And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.
6	그가 일어나 집 안으로 들어가자 예언자가 그의 머리에 기름을 부으며 말했다. “여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘내가 너에게 기름을 부어 여호와의 백성 이스라엘을 다스릴 임금으로 세운다.	And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.
7	너의 윗사람 아합 집안을 쳐라. 내가 나의 종 예언자들의 피와 여호와의 모든 종들의 피를 이세벨에게 갚아 줄 것이다.	And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, at the hand of Jezebel.
8	아합의 온 집안이 망할 것이다. 아합에게 있는 사내들을 이스라엘 가운데서 끊어 버릴 것이다. 갇힌 사람도 풀려난 사람도 모두 그렇게 할 것이다.	For the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:
9	나는 아합 집안을 느밧의 아들 여로보암 집안처럼, 아히야의 아들 바아사 집안처럼 만들어 버릴 것이다.	And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah:
10	이세벨을 개들이 이스르엘 땅에서 먹을 것이고, 묻어 주는 사람이 없을 것이다.’” 그러고 나서 그는 문을 열고 달아났다.	And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
11	예후는 자기 윗사람의 신하들에게로 나갔다. 누군가가 말했다. “별일 없어요? 그 정신 나간 사람이 도대체 왜 장군님한테 왔지요?” 그가 그들에게 말했다. “그 사람이 누구고 무슨 말을 지껄이는지는 그대들이 알지요.”	Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.
12	그들이 말했다. “거짓말하지 마세요. 우리한테 이야기해 주세요.” 그가 말했다. “나한테 이런 식으로 말하더군요. ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. 「내가 너에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘을 다스릴 임금으로 세운다.」’”	And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel.
13	그러자 그들은 서둘러 저마다 자기 옷을 가져다가 그의 아래에 있는 딱딱한 계단에 놓았다. 그러고는 나팔을 불며 말했다. “예후가 임금이 되었다!”	Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.
14	예후가 요람을 죽이다 여호사밧의 아들이자 님시의 손자인 예후는 요람을 두고 일을 꾸몄다. 그러나 요람은 길르앗의 라못을 지키고 있었다. 그는 온 이스라엘과 함께 시리아 임금 하사엘에게 맞서고 있었다.	So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept Ramoth–gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.
15	그러다 요람 임금은 치료를 받으러 이스르엘로 돌아왔다. 시리아 임금 하사엘과 싸울 때 시리아 사람들이 입힌 상처 때문이었다. 그러자 예후가 말했다. “너희가 그럴 마음이 있다면, 어느 누구도 이 도시에서 빠져나가 이스르엘에 소식을 알리지 못하게 하여라.”	But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.
16	그런 다음 예후는 전투수레를 타고 이스르엘로 갔다. 요람이 거기 누워 있었기 때문이다. 유다 임금 아하시야가 마침 요람을 보러 내려와 있었다.	So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.
17	이스르엘에 있는 망대 위에 파수꾼이 서 있었다. 그는 예후의 무리가 오는 것을 보고 말했다. “한 무리가 보입니다.” 요람이 말했다. “기마병을 한 명 골라 보내라. 그들을 맞이하며 ‘안녕하신가?’ 하고 물어보게 하여라.”	And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
18	기마병은 그를 맞이하러 가서 말했다. “임금께서 말씀하셨습니다. ‘안녕하신가?’ 하고요.” 예후가 말했다. “안녕이 너와 무슨 상관이 있느냐? 내 뒤에 붙어라.” 파수꾼이 말했다. “심부름꾼이 그들한테로 갔는데 돌아오지 않습니다.”	So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
19	임금은 두 번째 기마병을 보냈다. 그는 그들에게 가서 말했다. “임금께서 말씀하셨습니다. ‘안녕하신가?’ 하고요.” 예후가 말했다. “안녕이 너와 무슨 상관이 있느냐? 내 뒤에 붙어라.”	Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.
20	파수꾼이 말했다. “그들한테로 갔는데 그도 돌아오지 않습니다. 그런데 전투수레가 달려오는 모습이 님시의 손자 예후가 모는 모습 같습니다. 미친 듯이 몰고 오고 있습니다.”	And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.
21	그러자 요람이 “전투수레를 마련해라.” 하고 말했고, 그의 전투수레가 마련되었다. 이스라엘 임금 요람과 유다 임금 아하시야가 각각 자기 전투수레를 타고 나갔다. 예후를 만나러 나간 것이다. 그들은 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 땅에서 그와 마주쳤다.	And Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22	요람이 예후를 보고 말했다. “안녕하신가, 예후?” 그러자 그가 말했다. “안녕이 뭡니까? 임금님의 어머니 이세벨이 이토록 놀아나면서 마술들을 부리고 있는데요.”	And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
23	요람은 말고삐를 돌려 달아나면서 아하시야에게 말했다. “반란입니다, 아하시야!”	And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.
24	예후가 힘을 다해 활을 당겨 요람의 등을 맞히자, 화살이 그의 심장을 뚫고 나왔다. 그는 전투수레에서 고꾸라졌다.	And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.
25	예후가 자기 수행원 빗갈에게 말했다. “그를 들어다가 이스르엘 사람 나봇의 밭에 던지세요. 돌이켜 보세요. 나와 그대가 그의 아버지 아합 뒤에서 나란히 전투수레를 타고 다닐 때였지요. 여호와께서 그를 두고 이런 말씀을 내려 주셨어요.	Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the Lord laid this burden upon him;
26	‘나봇이 흘린 피와 그의 아들들이 쏟은 피를 내가 어제 틀림없이 보았다.’ 여호와의 말씀입니다. ‘이 밭에서 내가 너에게 갚아 주겠다.’ 여호와의 말씀입니다. 그러니 이제 여호와의 말씀대로 그를 들어다 그 밭에 던지세요.”	Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the Lord; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the Lord. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of the Lord.
27	유다 임금 아하시야가 죽다 유다 임금 아하시야가 보고서 벳하간 길로 달아났다. 예후가 그의 뒤를 따라가며 말했다. “저 사람도 쏘아라.” 그들은 그가 전투수레를 타고 있을 때 이블르암 곁에 있는 구르 오르막길에서 그에게 화살을 쏘았다. 그는 므깃도로 달아났다가 거기서 죽었다.	But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.
28	그의 신하들이 그를 전투수레에 실어 예루살렘으로 왔다. 그러고서 다윗의 도시에 있는 그의 무덤에 그의 조상들과 함께 묻었다.	And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.
29	아하시야가 유다를 다스리는 임금이 된 것은 아합의 아들 요람 열한째 해였다.	And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.
30	이세벨이 여호와의 말씀대로 죽다 예후가 이스르엘로 왔을 때, 이세벨은 소식을 듣고 눈 화장을 하고 머리를 꾸미고 창으로 내려다보고 있었다.	And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.
31	예후가 문안으로 들어오자 이세벨이 말했다. “안녕하시오, 자기 윗사람을 죽인 시므리!”	And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?
32	예후가 고개를 들어 창 쪽을 보며 말했다. “내 편에 누가 있느냐? 누가 있느냐?” 그러자 왕궁 관리 두세 명이 그를 내려다보았다.	And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.
33	예후가 그들에게 “그 여자를 밀어 떨어뜨려라.” 하고 말하자, 그들이 그 여자를 밀어 떨어뜨렸다. 그 여자의 피가 벽과 말들에 튀었고, 예후가 그를 밟았다.	And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
34	예후는 들어가서 먹고 마셨다. 그러고서 말했다. “그 저주받은 여자를 찾아 묻어 주세요. 그 여자는 임금의 딸이었으니까요.”	And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.
35	사람들이 그를 묻어 주려고 가 보았다. 그러나 그의 몸 가운데 머리뼈와 두 발뼈와 두 손바닥뼈밖에는 아무것도 찾을 수 없었다.	And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.
36	그들이 돌아와 예후에게 이야기해 주었다. 그러자 그가 말했다. “그건 여호와의 말씀대로 된 것이구나. 그분의 종 디스베 사람 엘리야를 통해 이렇게 말씀하셨지. ‘이스르엘 땅에서 개들이 이세벨의 살을 먹을 것이다.	Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:
37	이세벨의 시체는 이스르엘 땅에 있는 밭 위에 뿌려진 거름처럼 될 것이다. 「이것이 이세벨이야.」 하고 아무도 말할 수 없을 것이다.’”	And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
