1	아비야가 유다를 다스리다 느밧의 아들 여로보암 임금 열여덟째 해에, 아비야가 유다를 다스리는 임금이 되었다.	Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.
2	3년 동안 예루살렘에서 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 이름은 마아가이고 아비살롬의 딸이었다.	Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.
3	그는 앞서 자기 아버지가 갔던 온갖 죄의 길로 걸었다. 그의 마음은 여호와 그의 하나님 앞에 한결같지 않았다. 그의 윗대인 다윗의 마음과는 달랐던 것이다.	And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father.
4	그렇지만 여호와 그의 하나님은 다윗을 봐서 예루살렘에서 그에게 등불을 주셨다. 그의 뒤를 이을 아들을 세우시고 예루살렘이 버텨 나가게 하시려는 것이었다.	Nevertheless for David’s sake did the Lord his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:
5	다윗은 여호와께서 보시기에 올곧은 일을 했고, 사는 동안 그분이 명령하신 것에서 벗어난 일이 없었다. 다만 히타이트 사람 우리야의 일이 있긴 하다.	Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
6	르호보암과 여로보암 사이에는 사는 동안 늘 전쟁이 있었다.	And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
7	아비야에 관한 나머지 일과 그가 했던 모든 일은 유다 임금들의 역사일지에 적혀 있지 않은가? 아비야와 여로보암 사이에 전쟁이 있었다.	Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8	아비야가 자기 조상들과 함께 누웠고, 사람들이 그를 다윗의 도시에 묻었다. 그의 아들 아사가 그를 이어 임금이 되었다. ()	And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.
9	아사가 유다를 다스리다 이스라엘 임금 여로보암 스무째 해에 유다 임금 아사가 다스리는 임금이 되었다.	And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.
10	그는 예루살렘에서 41년을 다스렸다. 그의 할머니 이름은 마아가이고 아비살롬의 딸이었다.	And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.
11	아사는 여호와께서 보시기에 올곧은 일을 했다. 그의 윗대인 다윗과 같았다.	And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father.
12	그는 몸 바친 사람들을 그 땅에서 내몰았다. 조상들이 만든 모든 우상을 치워 버렸다.	And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
13	또한 그의 할머니 마아가를 대왕대비의 자리에서 쫓아냈다. 마아가가 아세라에게 바치는 끔찍한 우상을 만들었기 때문이다. 아사는 그가 만든 끔찍한 우상을 깨뜨려 기드론 마른시내에서 불살랐다.	And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.
14	높은곳(산당)들은 사라지지 않았다. 그래도 아사의 마음은 살아 있는 동안 늘 여호와 앞에 온전했다.	But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa’s heart was perfect with the Lord all his days.
15	그는 자기 아버지가 따로 떼어 둔 것과 자기가 따로 떼어 둔 것을 여호와의 집에 가져왔다. 은과 금과 그릇들이었다.	And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the Lord, silver, and gold, and vessels.
16	아사와 이스라엘 임금 바아사가 다스리는 동안 그들 사이에 늘 전쟁이 있었다.	And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
17	이스라엘 임금 바아사가 유다를 치러 올라와서는 라마를 다시 세웠다. 유다 임금 아사에게 사람들이 드나들지 못하게 하려는 것이었다.	And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
18	아사는 여호와의 집 보물 창고와 왕궁 보물 창고에 남아 있던 은과 금을 모두 가져왔다. 아사 임금은 그것을 자기 신하들의 손에 들려 다마스쿠스에 살고 있는 시리아 임금 벤하닷 곧 다브림몬의 아들이자 헤시온의 손자에게 보냈다. 이런 말을 덧붙였다.	Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben–hadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
19	“나하고 임금님 사이에, 나의 아버지하고 임금님의 아버지 사이에 맺었던 약속이 있습니다. 보십시오. 나는 임금님께 은과 금을 선물로 보냅니다. 자, 그러니 임금님이 이스라엘 임금 바아사와 맺었던 약속을 깨뜨려 주십시오. 그가 나에게서 떠나 올라가게 해 주십시오.”	There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
20	벤하닷이 아사 임금의 말을 듣고 자기 군대 지휘관들을 이스라엘의 몇몇 도시로 보냈다. 그는 이욘, 단, 아벨벳마아가, 긴네렛 모든 곳, 납달리 온 땅을 쳤다.	So Ben–hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel–beth–maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
21	바아사가 소식을 듣고 라마를 다시 세우던 일을 그만두었다. 그는 디르사에 머물렀다.	And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.
22	아사 임금은 온 유다 사람들이 빠짐없이 듣도록 말했다. 그러자 그들은 바아사가 공사에 쓰던 라마의 돌과 나무를 가져왔다. 아사 임금은 그것을 가지고 베냐민의 게바와 미스바를 다시 세웠다.	Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
23	아사에 관한 나머지 모든 일, 그가 보여 준 힘, 그가 했던 모든 일, 그가 세운 도시들은 유다 임금들의 역사일지에 적혀 있지 않은가? 그런데 그는 늘그막에 들어서 발에 병이 났다.	The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
24	아사가 자기 조상들과 함께 누워, 자기 조상 다윗의 도시에 자기 조상들과 함께 묻혔다. 그의 아들 여호사밧이 그를 이어 임금이 되었다.	And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.
25	나답이 이스라엘을 다스리다 여로보암의 아들 나답은 유다 임금 아사 둘째 해에 이스라엘을 다스리는 임금이 되었다. 2년 동안 이스라엘을 다스렸다.	And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.
26	그는 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저질렀다. 자기 아버지의 길로, 이스라엘을 죄짓게 했던 자기 아버지의 죄 가운데 걸었던 것이다.	And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
27	잇사갈 지파에 속한 아히야의 아들 바아사가 그에게 맞서려고 사람들과 일을 꾸몄다. 바아사는 필리스티아 사람들의 도시 깁브돈에서 그를 쳤다. 그때 나답과 온 이스라엘은 깁브돈을 에워싸고 있었다.	And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.
28	유다 임금 아사 셋째 해에 바아사가 나답을 죽이고, 그를 이어 임금이 되었다.	Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.
29	그는 임금이 된 다음 여로보암 온 집안을 쳤다. 여로보암에게 딸린 숨 쉬는 것이라면, 모조리 남김없이 없애 버렸다. 여호와께서 그분의 종 실로 사람 아히야를 통해 하셨던 말씀대로 되었다.	And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:
30	이렇게 된 것은 여로보암의 죄 때문이었다. 그는 스스로 죄를 짓고, 이스라엘도 죄짓게 했던 것이다. 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님을 화나시게 했던 것이다.	Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the Lord God of Israel to anger.
31	나답에 관한 나머지 일과 그가 했던 모든 일은 이스라엘 임금들의 역사일지에 적혀 있지 않은가?	Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
32	아사와 이스라엘 임금 바아사가 다스리는 동안 그들 사이에 늘 전쟁이 있었다.	And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
33	바아사가 이스라엘을 다스리다 유다 임금 아사 셋째 해에 아히야의 아들 바아사가 온 이스라엘을 다스리는 임금이 되었다. 디르사에서 24년을 다스렸다.	In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.
34	그는 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저질렀다. 여로보암의 길로, 이스라엘을 죄짓게 했던 여로보암의 죄의 길로 걸었던 것이다.	And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
