1	웃시야가 다스리다 유다 온 백성이 웃시야를 데려왔고, 그때 그는 16세였다. 백성이 그를 임금으로 삼아 그의 아버지 아마샤의 뒤를 잇게 했다.	Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
2	엘랏을 다시 세우고 유다로 되돌린 것이 바로 웃시야였다. 아마샤 임금이 그의 조상들과 함께 누운 뒤였다.	He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
3	웃시야가 임금이 되었을 때 16세였다. 52년 동안 예루살렘에서 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 이름은 여골랴이고 예루살렘 사람이었다.	Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
4	그는 여호와께서 보시기에 올곧은 일을 했다. 자기 아버지 아마샤가 했던 대로 다 한 것이다.	And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
5	하나님의 환상을 깨달아 알던 스가랴가 살아 있는 동안에는 웃시야가 하나님을 찾았다. 그가 여호와를 찾을 동안에는 하나님이 그를 잘되게 해 주셨다.	And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.
6	그가 나가서 필리스티아 사람들과 싸워, 가드의 성벽과 야브네의 성벽과 아스돗의 성벽을 헐었다. 그리고 아스돗과 필리스티아에 여러 도시를 세웠다.	And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7	하나님이 그를 도와주셔서 필리스티아 사람들, 아라비아 사람들, 구르바알에 사는 사람들, 마운 사람들에 맞설 수 있었다.	And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur–baal, and the Mehunims.
8	암몬 사람들은 웃시야에게 예물을 바쳤다. 그의 이름이 이집트 길목까지 알려졌다. 그의 힘이 무척 세졌던 것이다.	And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.
9	웃시야는 예루살렘에 망대들을 세웠다. ‘모퉁이 성문’ 위에, ‘골짜기 성문’ 위에, 성 구석 위에 세웠다. 그리고 그 망대들을 튼튼하게 만들었다.	Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.
10	들판에 망대를 여럿 세우고 우물을 많이 팠다. 세펠라에도 평지에도 그가 기르는 집짐승이 많았기 때문이다. 농사꾼들과 포도밭지기들을 산과 과수원에 두었다. 흙을 사랑해서였다.	Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.
11	웃시야에게는 전쟁에 나갈 만한 군대가 있었다. 여이엘 서기관과 마아세야 행정관이 불러 모으고 그 수를 헤아려 부대로 나누어 두었다. 그들을 임금의 지휘관 가운데 하나냐가 도맡았다.	Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
12	가문의 우두머리로서 용맹한 용사는 모두 2,600명이었다.	The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.
13	그들이 도맡은 군대가 307,500명이었다. 임금을 돕기 위해서라면, 힘을 다해 적과 맞서 싸울 사람들이었다.	And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14	웃시야는 온 군대에 방패와 창, 투구, 갑옷, 활, 팔맷돌을 갖추어 주었다.	And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.
15	그는 예루살렘에서 기술자가 생각해 낸 무기를 만들어 망대와 모퉁이에 두고 활과 큰 돌을 쏘아 날리게 했다. 그의 이름은 멀리까지 알려졌다. 그가 놀라운 도움을 받아 힘이 세진 덕분이었다.	And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
16	웃시야에게 심한피부병이 생기다 그러나 웃시야가 힘이 세지면서 마음이 높아져 망가지기에 이르렀다. 그는 여호와 자기 하나님께 신의를 저버렸다. 여호와의 성전에 와서 향피우는제단(향단)에 향을 피워 바치려 한 것이다.	But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17	그래서 아사랴 제사장은 여호와의 제사장 가운데 용맹스러운 사람 80명과 함께 그를 따라 들어갔다.	And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the Lord, that were valiant men:
18	그들이 웃시야 임금에게 맞서면서 말했다. “웃시야 임금님, 여호와께 향을 피워 바치는 일은 임금님의 일이 아닙니다. 향을 피워 바치는 일은 거룩하게 구별된 아론의 자손 제사장들의 일입니다. 거룩한곳(성소)에서 나가십시오! 신의를 저버렸으니 임금님을 여호와 하나님이 높여 주지 않으실 겁니다.”	And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the Lord, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the Lord God.
19	웃시야는 화를 냈다. 그의 손에는 향을 피워 바치는 향로가 있었다. 그가 제사장들에게 화를 냈을 때 그의 이마에 심한피부병이 생겨났다. 여호와의 집에 있는 향피우는제단(향단) 옆 제사장들 앞에서였다.	Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, from beside the incense altar.
20	우두머리 제사장 아사랴와 모든 제사장이 그를 쳐다보았다. 이런, 그의 이마에 심한피부병이 생긴 것이 아닌가! 사람들이 그를 곧장 거기에서 데리고 나갔다. 그도 나가려고 서둘렀다. 여호와께서 그를 치셨던 것이다.	And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the Lord had smitten him.
21	웃시야 임금은 죽는 날까지 심한피부병을 앓았고 따로 떼어 놓은 집에서 심한피부병 환자로 살았다. 여호와의 집에 드나들지 못했기 때문이다. 그의 아들 요담이 왕궁 일을 돌보며 그 땅의 백성을 다스렸다.	And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
22	웃시야에 관한 나머지 일들은 처음부터 끝까지 아모츠의 아들 이사야 예언자가 적어 두었다.	Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
23	웃시야는 자기 조상들과 함께 누웠고, 사람들이 그를 임금들의 무덤이 있는 들판에 그의 조상들과 함께 묻었다. 사람들이 “그는 심한피부병 환자였어.” 하고 말했기 때문이다. 그의 아들 요담이 그를 이어 임금이 되었다.	So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
