1	르우벤의 자손 이스라엘의 맏아들 르우벤의 자손은 이러하다. 사실 그가 맏아들이었다. 그렇지만 자기 아버지의 잠자리를 더럽혔다. 그래서 그의 맏아들 자리가 이스라엘의 아들 요셉의 자손에게로 넘어가고 말았다. 그래서 그는 맏아들로서는 족보에 오르지 못했다.	Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
2	유다는 그의 형제들보다 우월했다. 또 지도자가 된 사람이 그에게서 나왔다. 그런데도 맏아들 자리는 요셉에게 돌아갔다.	For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph’s:)
3	이스라엘의 맏아들 르우벤의 아들들은 하녹, 발루, 헤스론, 갈미이다.	The sons, I say, of Reuben the firstborn of Israel were, Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4	요엘의 자손은 이러하다. 스마야가 그의 아들이다. 곡이 손자이다. 시므이가 증손자이다.	The sons of Joel; Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5	미가가 고손자이다. 르아야가 5대손이다. 바알이 6대손이다.	Micah his son, Reaia his son, Baal his son,
6	브에라가 7대손이다. 아시리아 임금 디글랏빌레셀이 사로잡아 간 사람이었다. 브에라는 르우벤 사람들의 지도자이다.	Beerah his son, whom Tilgath–pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was prince of the Reubenites.
7	가문에 따라 세대별로 족보에 오른 그의 형제들은 이러하다. 그 우두머리 여이엘과 스가랴가 있다.	And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned, were the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,
8	또 벨라가 있다. 그는 아사스의 아들이자 세마의 손자이자 요엘의 증손자이다. 르우벤 지파가 살던 곳은 아로엘인데 느보와 바알므온까지 이르렀다.	And Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal–meon:
9	동쪽으로는 그 지파가 살던 곳이 유프라테스강에서부터 사막 길목까지 이르렀다. 길르앗 땅에서 그들의 집짐승들이 불어났기 때문이었다.	And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
10	사울 때에 이들은 하갈 사람들과 전투를 벌여 스스로의 힘으로 물리쳤다. 그러고는 길르앗 동쪽 어디서든지 천막을 치고 살았다.	And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of Gilead.
11	갓의 사람들 갓 사람들은 르우벤 사람들 맞은편에 살았다. 살가까지 이르는 바산 땅에서였다.	And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salchah:
12	요엘이 그 우두머리였다. 사밤이 둘째였다. 야내와 사밧은 바산에 있었다.	Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in Bashan.
13	그들의 아버지 쪽 집안의 형제들은 미카엘, 므술람, 세바, 요래, 야간, 시아, 에벨, 이렇게 일곱이다.	And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.
14	이들은 아비하일의 아들들이다. 아비하일은 후리의 아들이자 야로아흐의 손자이자 길르앗의 증손자이자 미카엘의 고손자이자 여시새의 5대손이자 야흐도의 6대손이자 부스의 7대손이다.	These are the children of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
15	압디엘의 아들이자 구니의 손자인 아히는 그들 아버지 쪽 집안의 우두머리였다.	Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.
16	그들이 살던 곳은 길르앗, 바산과 그에 딸린 마을들이었다. 또 가장자리까지 다다르는 샤론의 모든 목초지였다.	And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.
17	그들은 모두 족보에 올라 있었다. 유다 임금 요담 때와 이스라엘 임금 여로보암 때였다.	All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18	요르단강 동쪽 지파들이 벌인 전투 르우벤의 자손들, 갓 사람들, 므낫세 지파 절반 가운데 용맹스러운 남자들이 있었다. 방패와 칼을 들고 활을 쏘며 전투 훈련을 받은 사람들이었다. 44,760명이 군대에 갈 만한 사람들이었다.	The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.
19	이들은 하갈 사람들, 여둘, 나비스, 노답과 전투를 벌였다.	And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
20	이들은 도움을 받았다. 그래서 하갈 사람들이 이들의 손안에 들어왔다. 하갈 사람들과 함께한 모든 사람들도 들어왔다. 전투 중에 이들이 하나님께 부르짖었기 때문이다. 이들이 자신들을 위해 기도드린 것을 그분이 들어주셨다. 이들이 그분을 의지했기 때문이다.	And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
21	이들은 그들의 집짐승들을 사로잡아 왔다. 낙타 50,000마리와 양 250,000마리와 나귀 2,000마리였다. 사람 100,000명도 사로잡아 왔다.	And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.
22	많은 사람들이 칼에 쓰러졌다. 이 전투는 하나님께로부터 비롯된 것이었기 때문이다. 이들은 자신들이 사로잡혀 갈 때까지 그들 대신에 그곳에 살았다.	For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.
23	요르단강 동쪽의 므낫세 지파 므낫세 지파의 자손 절반은 그 땅에 살았다. 곧 바산에서부터 바알헤르몬과 스닐과 헤르몬산까지의 땅이었다. 그들이 불어났다.	And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baal–hermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.
24	그들 아버지 쪽 집안의 우두머리들은 이러하다. 에벨, 이시, 엘리엘, 아스리엘, 예레미야, 호다우야, 야흐디엘이다. 이들은 용맹스러운 사람들, 이름을 날린 사람들이었다. 그들의 아버지 쪽 집안의 우두머리들이었다.	And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.
25	그러나 이들은 자기네 조상들이 섬기던 하나님을 배신하고 그 땅 백성들의 신들을 뒤따라 놀아났다. 그 땅 백성들은 하나님이 그 신들 앞에서 멸망시킨 자들이었다.	And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26	이스라엘의 하나님이 아시리아 임금 풀, 곧 아시리아 임금 디글랏빌레셀의 정신을 일깨우셨다. 그래서 그가 르우벤 사람들, 갓 사람들, 므낫세 지파 절반을 사로잡아 갔다. 그들을 할라흐, 하볼, 하라, 고잔강으로 끌고 갔다. 그렇게 오늘까지 이르렀다.	And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath–pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
