1	다윗이 늙어서 나이 들었을 때, 그의 아들 솔로몬을 이스라엘의 임금으로 삼았다.	So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2	레위 사람들의 업무 그는 이스라엘의 모든 고위 관리들과 제사장들과 레위 사람들을 불러 모았다.	And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3	30세 이상 레위 사람들을 세어 보았다. 그랬더니 남자들의 머릿수가 38,000이었다.	Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
4	이 가운데서 여호와의 집 일을 감독할 사람이 24,000명이었다. 행정관과 재판관은 6,000명이었다.	Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges:
5	4,000명은 문지기였다. 또 4,000명은 다윗이 찬양하려고 만든 악기들을 가지고 여호와를 찬양하는 사람들이었다.	Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.
6	다윗은 이들을 여러 모둠으로 나누었다. 레위의 아들들인 게르손, 그핫, 므라리를 따라 나누었다.	And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7	게르손의 아들은 라단과 시므이이다.	Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.
8	라단의 아들은 우두머리인 여히엘, 세담, 요엘, 이렇게 셋이다.	The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9	시므이의 아들은 슬로밋, 하시엘, 하란, 이렇게 셋이다. 이들은 라단의 아버지 쪽 집안의 우두머리들이었다.	The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.
10	또 시므이의 아들은 야핫, 시나, 여우스, 브리아이다. 이들 넷도 시므이의 아들들이다.	And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11	야핫이 우두머리이고 시사가 둘째이다. 여우스와 브리아는 아들들이 많지 않았다. 그래서 그들은 아버지 쪽으로 한 집안을 이루어 같은 일을 맡았다.	And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house.
12	그핫의 아들은 아므람, 이스할, 헤브론, 웃시엘, 이렇게 넷이다.	The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13	아므람의 아들은 아론과 모세이다. 아론은 따로 빼놓았다. 거룩거룩한곳(지성소)을 거룩하게 모시도록 한 것이다. 그와 그의 자손이 영원에 이르도록 여호와 앞에 제물을 태워 연기로 바치고 섬기게 한 것이다. 또 여호와의 이름으로 영원에 이르도록 복을 빌어 주게 한 것이다.	The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
14	모세는 하나님의 사람이었다. 그의 자손은 레위 지파에 속한 것으로 여겨졌다.	Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
15	모세의 아들은 게르솜과 엘리에셀이다.	The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.
16	게르솜의 아들은 우두머리 스부엘이다.	Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.
17	엘리에셀의 아들은 우두머리 르하뱌이다. 엘리에셀에게는 다른 아들이 없었다. 르하뱌는 아들들이 아주 많았다.	And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
18	이스할의 아들은 우두머리 슬로밋이다.	Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.
19	헤브론의 아들은 우두머리가 여리야이고 아마랴가 둘째이다. 야하시엘이 셋째이고 여가므암이 넷째이다.	Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20	웃시엘의 아들로는 우두머리가 미가이고 잇시야가 둘째이다.	Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah the first, and Jesiah the second.
21	므라리의 아들은 마흘리와 무시이다. 마흘리의 아들은 엘르아살과 기스이다.	The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.
22	엘르아살은 아들 없이 죽었다. 그에게 딸들은 있었다. 그들의 친족인 기스의 아들들이 이들을 아내로 맞아들였다.	And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.
23	무시의 아들은 마흘리, 에델, 여레못, 이렇게 셋이다.	The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24	이들이 아버지 쪽 집안별 레위 사람들이었다. 아버지 쪽 집안들의 우두머리들로서 그들의 명수는 머릿수대로 조사되었다. 여호와의 집을 섬기는 일을 했고 20세 이상이었다.	These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward.
25	다윗이 이렇게 말했던 것이다. “여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 그의 백성을 편히 쉬게 해 주셨습니다. 영원에 이르도록 예루살렘에 머물러 계십니다.	For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
26	또한 레위 사람들은 여호와께서 머무시는 천막과 거기에서 쓰는 기구들을 더는 들고 다닐 필요가 없습니다.”	And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
27	그들은 다윗이 남긴 마지막 말들을 따라 그 수를 세어 본 레위 사람들로, 20세 이상이었다.	For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:
28	그들의 직무는 아론 사람들 곁에서 여호와의 집을 섬기는 것이었다. 곧 뜰과 방들을 살피는 일과 모든 거룩한 것을 깨끗하게 하는 일과 그 밖에 하나님의 집을 섬기는 일이었다.	Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29	상에 올릴 거룩한빵(진설병), 예물로 바칠 고운 밀가루, 누룩 넣지 않은 동글납작빵, 철판에서 구울 것, 반죽할 것도 맡았다. 온갖 부피와 길이를 재는 일도 맡았다.	Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
30	아침 저녁마다 서서 여호와께 감사하고 찬양하는 일을 맡았다.	And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even;
31	다태우는제물(번제물)을 여호와께 올려 드릴 때인 안식일과 초하룻날과 명절날에 하는 일도 맡았다. 숫자에 맞게, 그에 관한 법령에 따라 어김없이 여호와 앞에서 그 일을 했다.	And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the Lord in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the Lord:
32	그들은 또 만남의 천막을 보살피고 거룩한 기구들을 보살피며 아론의 자손 곧 자신들의 친족을 보살피는 일을 맡아 했다. 여호와의 집을 섬기는 일이었다.	And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.
