1	다윗이 암몬의 도시들을 쳐부수다 해가 바뀌고 임금들이 전쟁터로 나가는 때에 일어난 일이다. 요압이 군사력을 동원하여 암몬 사람들의 땅을 망가뜨렸다. 더 나아가 랍바를 에워쌌다. 그때 다윗은 예루살렘에 머물러 있었다. 요압이 랍바를 쳐부수고 쑥대밭으로 만들었다.	And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
2	다윗은 그들의 임금이 쓰던 왕관을 임금의 머리에서 벗겼다. 그러고는 무게를 알아보았는데, 금 34킬로그램이었다. 또 그 왕관에는 보석이 박혀 있었다. 그 왕관은 이제 다윗의 머리 위에 올라가게 되었다. 또 다윗이 그 도시에서 빼앗아 온 것이 아주 많았다.	And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city.
3	그 도시 안에 있던 백성은 다윗이 끌어내어, 톱과 쇠곡괭이와 도끼로 잘게 자르는 일을 시켰다. 다윗이 암몬 사람들의 모든 도시에 이처럼 했다. 그러고 나서 다윗은 모든 병사들을 거느리고 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다. ()	And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
4	다윗의 부하들이 필리스티아 사람들을 무찌르다 이런 다음에 일어난 일이다. 게셀에서 필리스티아 사람들과 전투를 벌이게 되었다. 그때 후사 사람 십브개가 십배를 무찔렀다. 십배는 라바 사람으로 태어난 사람들 가운데 하나였다. 그래서 필리스티아 사람들이 무릎을 꿇었다.	And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.
5	다시 필리스티아 사람들과 전투를 치르게 되었다. 야일의 아들 엘하난이 라흐미를 무찔렀다. 라흐미는 가드 사람 골리앗의 형제였다. 라흐미의 창 자루는 베틀의 도투마리 같았다.	And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver’s beam.
6	다시 가드에서 전투를 치르게 되었다. 그런데 키가 매우 큰 사내가 있었다. 그의 손발가락이 각각 여섯이어서 스물넷이었다. 그 또한 라바 사람으로 태어났다.	And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the giant.
7	그가 이스라엘 사람들에게 창피를 주었다. 그러자 요나단 곧 다윗의 형제 시므아의 아들이 그를 무찔렀다.	But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother slew him.
8	이들은 라바 사람으로 가드에서 태어났다. 그렇지만 다윗의 손에, 또 그의 신하들의 손에 쓰러졌다.	These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
