1	다윗이 주변 민족들을 쳐부수다 이런 다음에 일어난 일이다. 다윗이 필리스티아 사람들을 쳐부수고 무릎 꿇렸다. 가드와 그에 딸린 마을들을 필리스티아 사람들의 손으로부터 빼앗았다.	Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
2	다윗이 모압도 쳐부수었다. 그래서 모압 사람들은 다윗의 종이 되어 조공을 바쳤다.	And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
3	다윗이 하맛 쪽에 있는 소바 임금 하다데셀도 쳐부수었다. 하다데셀이 유프라테스강에 대한 자신의 지배력을 굳건히 세우려고 갔을 때였다.	And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.
4	다윗은 하다데셀한테서 1,000대의 전투수레와 7,000명의 기마병과 20,000명의 보병을 잡아 왔다. 다윗은 전투수레를 모조리 못 쓰게 만들었다. 그러나 그 가운데서 100대의 전투수레는 남겨 두었다.	And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.
5	다마스쿠스의 시리아 왕국이 소바 임금 하다데셀을 도우러 왔다. 그런데 다윗이 시리아 사람들 가운데 22,000명을 쳐부수었다.	And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
6	그리고 다윗은 다마스쿠스의 시리아 왕국에 총독들을 세워 두었다. 시리아 사람들은 다윗의 종들이 되어 조공을 바쳤다. 여호와께서는 다윗이 어디로 가든지 그를 도우셨다.	Then David put garrisons in Syria–damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought gifts. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
7	다윗은 하다데셀의 부하 장교들한테 있던 금화살통을 빼앗아 예루살렘으로 가져왔다.	And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8	디브핫과 쿤이라는 하다데셀의 도시들에서부터 다윗이 놋을 아주 많이 빼앗아 왔다. 그것으로 솔로몬이 놋바다와 기둥들과 놋그릇들을 만들었다.	Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
9	하맛 임금 도이가 다윗이 소바 임금 하다데셀의 모든 군대를 쳐부수었다는 것을 들었다.	Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;
10	그래서 도이는 자기 아들 요람을 다윗 임금에게 보냈다. 잘 지내는지 그에게 물어보고, 또 하다데셀과 전투를 벌여 그를 쳐부순 것을 축하하려 한 것이었다. 하다데셀이 도이와 여러 번 전투를 벌여 왔던 사람이기 때문이다. 또한 도이는 온갖 금과 은과 놋으로 된 그릇도 보냈다.	He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
11	그것들 또한 다윗 임금은 따로 떼어 여호와께 바쳤다. 모든 민족들, 곧 에돔, 모압, 암몬 사람들, 필리스티아 사람들, 아말렉한테서 가져온 은과 금과 함께 바쳤다.	Them also king David dedicated unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
12	스루야의 아들 아비새가 소금 골짜기에서 에돔 사람 18,000명을 쳐부수었다.	Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
13	아비새가 에돔에 총독들을 세워 두었고, 모든 에돔 사람들이 다윗의 종들이 되었다. 여호와께서는 다윗이 어디로 가든지 그를 도우셨다.	And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
14	다윗은 임금으로 온 이스라엘을 다스렸다. 자신의 백성 모두를 위해 정의와 공의를 행동으로 옮겼다.	So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
15	스루야의 아들 요압은 군대를 맡았고, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 기록담당관이었다.	And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.
16	아히둡의 아들 사독과 아비아달의 아들 아히멜렉은 제사장이었고, 사워사는 서기관이었다.	And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
17	여호야다의 아들 브나야는 그렛 사람들과 블렛 사람들을 맡았다. 다윗의 아들들은 임금 바로 옆에 있는 으뜸 관리들이었다.	And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.
