1	다윗이 온 이스라엘의 임금이 되다 온 이스라엘이 모여서 다윗을 만나려고 헤브론으로 왔다. 그들이 말했다. “보십시오, 우리야말로 임금님의 피붙이와 임금님의 살붙이입니다.	Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2	지난 시절 사울이 임금이었을 때도 이스라엘을 이끌고 출전하기도 하고 돌아오기도 하신 분은 다름 아닌 임금님이셨습니다. 여호와 임금님의 하나님이 임금님에게 이렇게 말씀하셨지요. ‘너야말로 나의 백성 이스라엘의 목자가 될 것이다. 너야말로 나의 백성 이스라엘을 다스리는 지도자가 될 것이다.’”	And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.
3	이스라엘의 모든 원로들이 임금을 만나러 헤브론으로 왔다. 다윗은 헤브론에서 그들과 약속을 맺었다. 여호와 앞에서였다. 그들은 다윗에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 임금으로 삼았다. 여호와께서 사무엘을 통해 하신 말씀대로였다.	Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.
4	다윗은 온 이스라엘을 거느리고 예루살렘 곧 여부스로 갔다. 그곳에는 여부스 사람들이 그 땅의 주민으로 살고 있었다.	And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5	여부스 주민들이 다윗에게 말했다. “너는 이리로 들어오지 못할 것이다!” 그러나 다윗은 시온 요새를 차지했다. 그곳이 다윗의 도시이다.	And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6	다윗이 이렇게 말했다. “누구든지 제일 먼저 여부스 사람을 치는 사람이 우두머리와 지휘관이 될 것입니다.” 그러자 스루야의 아들 요압이 제일 먼저 올라갔고 우두머리가 되었다.	And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7	다윗이 그 요새에 살았다. 이러므로 사람들이 그곳을 다윗의 도시라고 불렀다.	And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8	그는 빙 둘러 가며 밀로에서부터 둘레 지역까지 성을 쌓았다. 요압은 그 도시의 나머지를 수리하여 고쳤다.	And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9	다윗이 점점 더 강해져 갔다. 전능하신 여호와께서 그와 함께하셨던 것이다. ()	So David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.
10	다윗의 용사들 다윗의 우두머리 용사들은 이러하다. 이들은 다윗에게 충성하여 그가 임금의 지위에 오르게 한 사람들이었다. 온 이스라엘과 함께 그를 임금으로 세운 사람들이었다. 여호와께서 이스라엘에 하신 말씀 그대로였다.	These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
11	다윗의 용사들을 쭉 말해 보면 이러하다. 학모니의 아들 야소브암이 있었다. 그는 30명의 우두머리였다. 창을 휘둘러 단번에 300명을 죽였다.	And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.
12	야소브암 다음으로는 도도의 아들인 아호아 사람 엘르아살이 있었다. 그는 세 용사 가운데 한 사람이었다.	And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.
13	그는 다윗과 함께 바스담밈에 있었다. 그때 필리스티아 사람들이 전투를 벌이려고 거기에 모여 있었다. 거기에는 보리로 가득 찬 들판이 있었다. 사람들은 필리스티아 사람들 앞에서 달아났다.	He was with David at Pas–dammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14	그렇지만 다윗과 엘르아살은 그 들판 한가운데에 꿋꿋이 서서 들판을 지켰다. 그리고 필리스티아 사람들을 쳐부수었다. 여호와께서 매우 큰 승리를 거두게 해 주셨다.	And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance.
15	그 30명 가운데 세 사람이 우두머리로서 다윗을 만나러 바위로 내려갔다. 아둘람 동굴로 간 것이다. 필리스티아 사람들의 군대는 라바 사람들의 골짜기에 진을 치고 있었다.	Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16	다윗은 그때 산악 요새에 있었고, 필리스티아 사람들의 초소는 그때 베들레헴에 있었다.	And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Beth–lehem.
17	다윗이 애타게 말했다. “누가 베들레헴 성문 곁 우물에서 내가 마시도록 물 좀 길어다 줄 수 있겠소?”	And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, that is at the gate!
18	그러자 그 세 사람이 필리스티아 사람들의 진영을 뚫고 나아갔다. 베들레헴 성문 곁 우물에서 물을 길어다가 들고 다윗에게 왔다. 그러나 다윗은 그 물을 마시려 하지 않았다. 그 물을 부어 여호와께 바쳤다.	And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the Lord,
19	그리고 이렇게 말했다. “있을 수 없는 일입니다, 나에게는! 하나님 앞에서 내가 이런 일을 할 수는 없습니다. 이 사람들이 목숨 걸고 가져온, 피 같은 물을 어떻게 내가 마시겠습니까? 그들은 목숨을 걸고 물을 가져왔으니까요.” 그는 그 물을 마시려 하지 않았다. 이와 같은 일들을 한 것이 세 용사였다.	And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
20	또 요압의 형제 아비새가 있었다. 그는 다른 세 사람의 우두머리였다. 그가 창을 휘둘러 300명을 죽였다. 그래서 그는 그 세 사람과 함께 이름을 떨쳤다.	And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.
21	이 세 사람 가운데서 그가 다른 두 사람보다 존중받아 그들의 지휘관이 되었다. 그러나 앞의 세 용사에게까지는 미치지 못했다.	Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.
22	여호야다의 아들 브나야도 있었다. 용감한 사내로 해낸 일이 많았다. 갑스엘 출신이었다. 그가 모압의 두 아리엘을 쳐 죽였다. 그가 내려가서, 구덩이 한가운데 있던 사자도 쳐 죽였다. 눈 내리는 날이었다.	Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
23	그는 이집트 사람도 쳐 죽였다. 키가 매우 큰 사내로 2.5미터쯤 되었다. 그 이집트 사람은 손에 베틀의 도투마리 같은 창을 들고 있었다. 그렇지만 브나야는 몽둥이를 가지고 그에게로 내려갔다. 그러고는 그 이집트 사람의 손에서 창을 빼앗아 그의 창으로 그를 죽였다.	And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.
24	이런 일들을 한 것이 여호야다의 아들 브나야였다. 그래서 그가 세 용사와 함께 이름을 떨쳤다.	These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.
25	그 30명 가운데서 그는 정말 크게 존중받았다. 그러나 그 첫째 세 사람에게까지는 미치지 못했다. 다윗이 그를 자신의 호위병으로 삼았다.	Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.
26	그 밖에도 용맹스러운 사람들로 요압의 형제 아사헬과 도도의 아들인 베들레헴 출신 엘하난이 있었다.	Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth–lehem,
27	하롤 사람 삼못과 블론 사람 헬레스도 있었다.	Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28	익게스의 아들인 드고아 사람 이라와 아나돗 사람 아비에셀도 있었다.	Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi–ezer the Antothite,
29	후사 사람 십브개와 아호아 사람 일래도 있었다.	Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30	느도바 사람 마하래와 바아나의 아들인 느도바 사람 헬렛도 있었다.	Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31	리배의 아들 이대도 있었다. 그는 기브아 출신으로 베냐민의 자손이다. 비라돈 사람 브나야도 있었다.	Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
32	나할레가아스 사람 후래와 아르바 사람 아비엘도 있었다.	Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33	바하룸 사람 아스마웻과 사알본 사람 엘리아흐바도 있었다.	Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
34	기손 사람 하셈의 아들들과 사게의 아들인 하랄 사람 요나단도 있었다.	The sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite,
35	사갈의 아들인 하랄 사람 아히암과 우르의 아들 엘리발도 있었다.	Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36	므게랏 사람 헤벨과 블론 사람 아히야도 있었다.	Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,
37	갈멜 사람 헤스로와 에스배의 아들 나아래도 있었다.	Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,
38	나단의 형제 요엘과 하그리의 아들 밉할도 있었다.	Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Haggeri,
39	암몬 사람 셀렉과 브에롯 사람 나흐래도 있었다. 나흐래는 스루야의 아들 요압의 무기를 들고 따르던 사람이었다.	Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armourbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
40	이델 사람 이라와 이델 사람 가렙도 있었다.	Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
41	히타이트 사람 우리야와 아흘래의 아들 사밧도 있었다.	Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,
42	시사의 아들인 르우벤 사람 아디나도 있었다. 아디나는 르우벤 사람들의 우두머리로 30명을 거느리던 사람이었다.	Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a captain of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,
43	마아가의 아들 하난과 메덴 사람 요사밧도 있었다.	Hanan the son of Maachah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,
44	아스다롯 사람 웃시야, 사마, 여이엘도 있었다. 아로엘 사람 호담의 아들들도 있었다.	Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jehiel the sons of Hothan the Aroerite,
45	시므리의 아들 여디아엘과 여디아엘의 형제인 디스 사람 요하도 있었다.	Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46	마하위 사람 엘리엘, 엘나암의 아들들인 여리배, 요사우야도 있었다. 모압 사람 이드마도 있었다.	Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
47	엘리엘, 오벳, 므소바 사람 야아시엘도 있었다.	Eliel, and Obed, and Jasiel the Mesobaite.
