1	에스라가 예루살렘으로 올라오다 이런 일들이 있은 뒤였다. 페르시아 임금 아르타크세르크세스가 다스릴 때 에스라라는 사람이 있었다. 그는 스라야의 아들이자 아사랴의 손자이자 힐기야의 증손자였다.	Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
2	그는 살룸의 고손자이자 사독의 5대손이자 아히둡의 6대손이었다.	The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,
3	그는 아마랴의 7대손이자 아사랴의 8대손이자 므라욧의 9대손이었다.	The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,
4	그는 스라히야의 10대손이자 웃시의 11대손이자 북기의 12대손이었다.	The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5	그는 아비수아의 13대손이자 비느하스의 14대손이자 엘르아살의 15대손이자 아론 대제사장의 16대손이었다.	The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
6	바로 이 에스라가 바빌로니아에서 올라왔다. 그는 서기관이었는데 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 주신 모세의 율법을 잘 알고 있었다. 여호와 그의 하나님의 손길이 그와 함께한 덕분에, 임금은 그가 달라고 하는 것은 무엇이든지 그에게 다 주었다.	This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.
7	이스라엘 사람들, 제사장들, 레위 사람들, 노래하는 사람들, 문지기들, 성전 허드렛일꾼들이 예루살렘으로 올라갔다. 아르타크세르크세스 임금 일곱째 해였다.	And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
8	에스라가 예루살렘으로 온 것은 다섯째 달이었다. 그해는 임금이 그 자리에 오른 지 7년이 되는 해였다.	And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
9	첫째 달 첫째 날에 에스라는 바빌론에서 예루살렘으로 올라가기로 확정했다. 그러고는 다섯째 달 첫째 날에 예루살렘에 들어갔다. 그와 함께한 하나님의 따스한 손길 덕분이었다.	For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
10	에스라는 마음을 굳게 먹고, 여호와의 율법을 공부하고 행동으로 옮겼다. 또한 이스라엘 사람들에게 규정과 법규를 가르쳤다.	For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
11	아르타크세르크세스의 명령 아르타크세르크세스가 제사장인 에스라 서기관에게 써 준 편지의 사본은 이러하다. 에스라는 여호와가 명령으로 주신 말씀과 그분이 이스라엘에 주신 규정을 맡은 서기관이었다.	Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes to Israel.
12	“아르타크세르크세스 곧 임금 중의 임금이 제사장인 에스라 서기관, 하늘의 하나님의 율법을 맡은 사람에게. 평화가 가득하기를! 이제 잘 들으시오.	Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.
13	내 명령이오. 내 나라에 있는 이스라엘 백성과 제사장들과 레위 사람들 가운데 예루살렘으로 가고 싶어 하는 사람은 누구든 그대와 함께 가도 좋소.	I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.
14	임금과 임금의 참모 일곱 명이 그대를 보내는 것이오. 그대의 손에 그대가 섬기는 하나님의 법이 있으니 거기에 따라 유다와 예루살렘을 살펴보도록 하시오.	Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;
15	임금과 임금의 참모들이 예루살렘에 거처를 두고 계시는 이스라엘의 하나님께 우러나 바치는 은과 금을 그대가 가지고 가시오.	And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,
16	그대가 바빌로니아 지역 곳곳에서 받을 은과 금도 모두 가지고 가시오. 백성과 제사장들이 예루살렘에 있는 자기 하나님의 집에다 마음에서 우러나 바치는 예물도 함께 가지고 가시오.	And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:
17	그러니 그대는 빠뜨리지 말고 이 돈으로 수소와 숫양과 어린양과 곡식제물(소제물)과 붓는제물(전제물)을 사시오. 그것을 예루살렘에 있는 그대들의 하나님의 집에 있는 제단에 드리시오.	That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
18	그대와 그대의 형제들이 하고 싶은 일이 있으면, 남은 은과 금으로 그대들의 하나님의 뜻을 따라 하도록 하시오.	And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.
19	그대의 하나님의 집에서 섬기라고 그대에게 주어진 그릇들은 예루살렘 하나님 앞에 오롯이 드리도록 하시오.	The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
20	그대의 하나님의 집에 필요한 나머지 것들 가운데 그대가 떠안아야 할 몫은, 나라의 보물 창고에서 가져가도 좋소.	And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure house.
21	그리고 나 아르타크세르크세스 임금은 유프라테스강 건너편 지역에 있는 모든 재무관들에게 명령을 내린다. 제사장인 에스라 서기관 곧 하늘의 하나님의 법을 맡은 사람이 그대들에게 해 달라고 하는 것은 모두 빠짐없이 해 주어라.	And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
22	은은 3.4톤까지, 밀은 22,000리터까지, 포도주는 2,200리터까지, 기름도 2,200리터까지 주고 소금은 무한정 주어라.	Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
23	하늘의 하나님이 명령하신 것은 무엇이든 하늘의 하나님의 집에 그대로 해 드려라. 임금과 그의 아들들의 나라에 그분의 분노를 불러올 까닭이 무엇이냐?	Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
24	그대들에게 알린다. 제사장들, 레위 사람들, 노래하는 사람들, 문지기들, 성전 허드렛일꾼들, 하나님의 이 집 직원들이 있다. 그들 중 누구에게도 조공이나 공물이나 통행세를 내게 해서는 안 된다.	Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
25	그대 에스라는 그대에게 있는 그대의 하나님의 지혜를 따라 재판관들과 법관들을 세우시오. 유프라테스강 건너편 지역에 있는 모든 백성 곧 그대의 하나님의 법을 아는 모든 사람들을 재판할 수 있도록 하시오. 잘 모르는 사람들에게는 그대들이 알려 주시오.	And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.
26	그대의 하나님의 법과 임금의 법대로 살지 않는 사람은 누구든 엄격하게 재판을 받을 것이오. 죽이든지 쫓아내든지 재산을 빼앗든지 가두든지 할 것이오.”	And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
27	에스라의 하나님 찬양 “찬양받으실 만합니다, 여호와 우리 조상들의 하나님은! 임금에게 이런 마음을 주셔서 예루살렘에 있는 여호와의 집을 영광스럽게 하셨습니다.	Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem:
28	여호와께서 임금과 그의 참모들과 임금의 힘 있는 관리들이 나에게 한결같은 사랑을 베풀게 하셨습니다. 여호와 나의 하나님의 손길이 나와 함께한 덕분에 나는 마음을 단단히 먹었습니다. 나는 이스라엘 사람들 가운데 나와 함께 올라갈 우두머리들을 모았습니다.”	And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the Lord my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
