1	가나안 사람들을 물리치도록 하십시오 “여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대가 들어가서 차지할 땅으로 그대를 데려다주실 것입니다. 그러고는 여러 민족을 그대 앞에서 몰아내 주실 것입니다. 곧 히타이트 사람들, 기르가스 사람들, 아모리 사람들, 가나안 사람들, 브리스 사람들, 히위 사람들, 여부스 사람들을요. 이 일곱 민족은 그대보다 수가 더 많고 강합니다.	When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
2	여호와 그대의 하나님이 그들을 그대 앞으로 넘겨주셔서, 그대가 그들을 물리칠 것입니다. 그럴 때 그대는 그들을 반드시 완전히 없애 버려야 합니다. 그들과는 어떤 약속도 맺지 말고 불쌍히 여기지도 마십시오.	And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
3	그들과 사돈을 맺지도 마십시오. 그대의 딸을 며느리로 주지 말고, 그쪽의 딸을 며느리로 맞아들이지도 마십시오.	Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
4	그대의 아들딸이 여호와를 떠나 다른 신들을 섬길 수 있기 때문입니다. 그러면 여호와께서 노여움으로 불타올라서 그대를 서둘러 뿌리 뽑아 버리실 것입니다.	For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
5	그들에게는 오히려 이렇게 하도록 하십시오. 그들의 제단들은 무너뜨리고, 돌기둥들은 깨뜨려야 합니다. 아세라 말뚝들은 조각내고, 우상들은 불에 태워 버려야 합니다.	But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
6	그대는 여호와 그대의 하나님께 거룩한 백성이니까요. 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대를 뽑아 땅 위의 모든 백성 가운데서 자신의 백성이 되게 하셨습니다.	For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
7	그대들의 수가 다른 어떤 백성보다 많아서가 아닙니다. 여호와께서 그대들에게 마음이 쏠리셔서 그대들을 뽑으셨습니다. 그대들은 모든 백성 가운데서 가장 작은 백성이었습니다.	The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
8	여호와께서 그대들을 사랑하시고 또 그대들의 조상들에게 굳게 약속하신 것을 지키려 하셨습니다. 그래서 여호와께서 그대들을 강한 손으로 이끌어 내셨습니다. 노예살이하던 집에서, 이집트 임금 파라오의 손에서 그대들을 빼내어 주셨습니다.	But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9	그대는 알아야 합니다. 여호와 그대의 하나님이야말로 신이십니다. 믿을 만한 신이십니다. 언약을 지키십니다. 그분을 사랑하고 그분의 명령을 따르는 사람들에게는 천 대에 이르도록 한결같은 사랑을 베푸십니다.	Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
10	그러나 그분을 미워하는 사람들에게는 대놓고 그대로 갚아 망하게 하십니다. 그분을 미워하는 사람에게는 주저 없이 대놓고 그대로 갚으십니다.	And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
11	그러므로 그대는 내가 오늘 그대에게 알려 주는 명령과 규정들과 법령들을 잘 실행해야 합니다.” ()	Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12	순종하면 복 주실 것입니다 “그대가 이 여러 법령을 듣고 잘 지키고 실행한다고 합시다. 그러면 여호와 그대의 하나님도 그대에게 언약을 지키시고 한결같은 사랑을 베푸실 것입니다. 그대의 조상들에게 굳게 약속하신 대로요.	Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
13	그대를 사랑하셔서, 그대에게 복을 주시고 그대를 불어나게 하실 것입니다. 그대 몸의 열매와 땅의 열매, 곡식과 포도주와 기름, 송아지와 새끼 양을 복으로 주실 것입니다. 그대에게 주기로 그대의 조상들에게 굳게 약속하신 그 땅에서 그렇게 하실 것입니다.	And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
14	그대는 모든 민족 가운데서 복을 가장 많이 받을 것입니다. 그대에게는 남자든 여자든 아이를 못 낳는 사람이 없을 것이고, 그대의 집짐승도 그러할 것입니다.	Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15	여호와께서는 그대에게서 병을 다 없애 주실 것입니다. 그대가 아는 이집트의 나쁜 병은 다 그렇게 하실 것입니다. 그대에게는 그런 병이 생기지 않게 하시고, 그대를 미워하는 모든 사람이 걸리게 하실 것입니다.	And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
16	여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대에게 넘겨주신 모든 민족을 그대는 뿌리 뽑아 버려야 합니다. 가엾이 여기는 눈으로 그들을 보지 마십시오. 그들의 신들을 섬기지 마십시오. 그것이 그대에게 덫이 될 것이니까요.	And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
17	그대가 마음속으로 이렇게 말할 수 있습니다. ‘이 여러 민족의 수가 나보다 더 많은데, 내가 그들을 어떻게 몰아낼 수 있을까?’	If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?
18	그들을 두려워하지 마십시오. 낱낱이 기억해 보십시오. 여호와 그대의 하나님이 파라오와 또 온 이집트에게 어떻게 하셨는지를요.	Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the Lord thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
19	그대가 두 눈으로 본 것처럼 큰 시험들과 증표들과 기적들을 기억해 보십시오. 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대를 이끌어 내면서 보여 주신 강한 손과 펴신 팔도요. 그대가 두려워하는 모든 민족에게도 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그렇게 하실 것입니다.	The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the Lord thy God brought thee out: so shall the Lord thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
20	또한 말벌을 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그들에게 내보내셔서, 남아 있는 사람들과 그대 앞에서 숨은 사람들이 마침내 죽게 하실 것입니다.	Moreover the Lord thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
21	그대는 그들을 겁내지 마십시오. 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대 이스라엘 한가운데에 계시니까요. 그분은 강하고 두려운 신이십니다.	Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.
22	여호와 그대의 하나님이 그 민족들을 그대 앞에서 조금씩 조금씩 몰아내 주실 것입니다. 그대가 그들을 빨리 다 없애 버릴 수는 없을 것입니다. 그랬다가는 그대를 괴롭힐 들짐승이 불어날 것입니다.	And the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
23	그러나 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그들을 그대들 앞에 거꾸러지게 하고, 큰 혼란에 빠뜨려 마침내 뿌리 뽑아 버리실 것입니다.	But the Lord thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
24	여호와께서 그대의 손에 그들의 임금들을 넘겨주셨으므로, 그대는 그들의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 없애 버려야 합니다. 그 누구도 그대의 앞을 막아설 수 없게 해 주실 것입니다. 그대가 그들을 뿌리 뽑을 때까지는요.	And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
25	그들의 신들을 본떠 조각한 우상들을 불태워 버리십시오. 그 위에 입혀 놓은 은과 금을 넘보다가 가져가지 마십시오. 그랬다가는 덫에 걸릴 것입니다. 이것은 여호와 그대의 하나님께 역겨운 것이니까요.	The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.
26	역겨운 것을 그대의 집에 들이지 마십시오. 그랬다가는 그대도 그것처럼, 여호와께 완전히 바치는 것이 되어 죽어 없어질 것입니다. 그대는 그것을 아주 싫어하고 아주 역겨워해야 합니다. 그것은 여호와께 바쳐서 완전히 없애 버려야 하기 때문입니다.”	Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
