1	다윗이 주변 민족들을 쳐부수다 이런 다음에 일어난 일이다. 다윗이 필리스티아 사람들을 쳐부수고 무릎 꿇렸다. 다윗은 메덱암마를 필리스티아 사람들의 손에서 빼앗았다.	And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg–ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
2	다윗이 모압도 쳐부수었다. 그러고는 모압 사람들을 땅에 눕혀 놓고 줄자로 재었다. 재어서 줄자 두 개 길이가 되면 그만큼은 죽이고, 줄자 하나를 채우면 그만큼은 살려 두게 했다. 이렇게 모압 사람들이 다윗의 종이 되어 조공을 바쳤다.	And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
3	다윗이 르홉의 아들 소바 임금 하다데셀도 쳐부수었다. 하다데셀이 유프라테스강에 대한 자신의 지배력을 되찾으러 갔을 때였다.	David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
4	다윗은 하다데셀한테서 1,700명의 기마병과 20,000명의 보병을 잡아 왔다. 다윗은 전투수레를 모조리 못 쓰게 만들었는데, 그 가운데서 100대의 전투수레는 남겨 두었다.	And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.
5	다마스쿠스의 시리아 왕국이 소바 임금 하다데셀을 도우러 왔다. 그런데 다윗이 시리아 사람들 가운데 22,000명을 쳐부수었다.	And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
6	그리고 다윗은 다마스쿠스의 시리아 왕국에 총독들을 세워 두었다. 시리아 사람들은 다윗의 종들이 되어 조공을 바쳤다. 여호와께서는 다윗이 어디로 가든지 그를 도우셨다.	Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
7	다윗은 하다데셀의 부하 장교들에게 있던 금화살통을 빼앗아 예루살렘으로 가져왔다.	And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8	베다흐와 베로대라는 하다데셀의 도시들에서부터 다윗 임금이 놋을 아주 많이 빼앗아 왔다.	And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
9	하맛 임금 도이가 들었다. 다윗이 하다데셀의 모든 군대를 쳐부수었다는 것이다.	When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,
10	도이는 자기 아들 요람을 다윗 임금에게 보내어 잘 지내는지 그에게 물어보려고 했다. 그러고는 하다데셀과 전투를 벌여 그를 쳐부순 것을 축하하려고 한 것이었다. 도이와 전투를 벌여 왔던 사람이 하다데셀이었기 때문이다. 요람의 손에는 은그릇, 금그릇, 놋그릇이 들려 있었다.	Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
11	그것들도 다윗 임금은 따로 떼어 여호와께 바쳤다. 자기가 무찌른 모든 민족들한테서 가져와 따로 떼어 놓았던 은과 금과 함께 바쳤다.	Which also king David did dedicate unto the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;
12	시리아, 모압, 암몬 사람들, 필리스티아 사람들, 아말렉한테서 가져온 것이었다. 르홉의 아들 소바 임금 하다데셀에게서 빼앗아 온 것도 있었다.	Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13	다윗이 이름을 떨쳤다. 그가 돌아올 때, 에돔을 소금 골짜기에서 쳐부수었던 것이다. 18,000명을 죽였다.	And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.
14	다윗은 에돔에 총독들을 세워 두었다. 온 에돔에 총독들을 세워 둔 것이다. 모든 에돔 사람들이 다윗의 종들이 되었다. 여호와께서는 다윗이 어디로 가든지 그를 도우셨다.	And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
15	다윗은 임금으로 온 이스라엘을 다스렸다. 다윗은 자신의 백성 모두를 위해 정의와 공의를 행동으로 옮겼다.	And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.
16	스루야의 아들 요압은 군대를 맡았고, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 기록담당관이었다.	And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
17	아히둡의 아들 사독과 아비아달의 아들 아히멜렉은 제사장이었고, 스라야는 서기관이었다.	And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;
18	여호야다의 아들 브나야는 그렛 사람들과 블렛 사람들을 맡았고, 다윗의 아들들은 제사장이었다.	And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief rulers.
