1	시바가 다윗을 맞이하다 다윗이 산꼭대기를 조금 벗어나 지나가고 있었다. 그런데, 거기, 므비보셋 집안의 관리인인 시바가 그를 맞이하는 것이 아닌가! 나귀 한 쌍에는 안장이 얹혀 있었고, 또 그 위에는 200덩이의 빵과 100송이의 건포도와 100개의 여름 과일과 한 항아리의 포도주가 실려 있었다.	And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
2	임금이 시바에게 물었다. “이게 무엇이오?” 시바가 대답했다. “나귀들은 임금님의 집안 분들이 타시고요, 빵과 여름 과일은 젊은이들이 먹고요, 포도주는 광야에서 지친 사람들이 마시라고요.”	And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king’s household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.
3	임금이 물었다. “그대 주인의 아들은 어디 있소?” 시바가 임금에게 대답했다. “저기, 예루살렘에 있습니다. 이렇게 말했거든요. ‘오늘 이스라엘 집안이 나의 아버지가 다스리던 나라를 나한테 돌려줄 거야.’ 하고요.”	And the king said, And where is thy master’s son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.
4	임금이 시바에게 말했다. “이보시오, 므비보셋이 가진 모든 것이 그대 것이오.” 시바가 말했다. “제가 엎드려 절하겠습니다. 제가 저의 주인이신 임금님의 눈에 들면 좋겠습니다.”	Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.
5	시므이가 다윗에게 막말을 퍼붓다 다윗 임금이 바후림까지 왔다. 그런데, 아, 한 사람이 거기서 막 나오고 있는 것이 아닌가? 사울 가문의 집안사람으로 이름은 게라의 아들 시므이였다. 그는 나오면서 막말을 퍼붓고 있었다.	And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
6	그는 다윗에게 돌을 던졌다. 다윗 임금의 모든 신하들에게도 돌을 던졌다. 온 백성과 모든 용사들이 임금의 오른쪽과 왼쪽에 서 있는데도 그랬다.	And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
7	시므이는 이렇게 막말을 했다. “꺼져라, 꺼져라, 남의 피를 쏟는 사람, 몹쓸 사람!	And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:
8	여호와께서 사울 집안의 사람들이 흘린 모든 피를 너에게 모두 되돌려주셨어. 네가 그를 이어 임금이 되었지. 여호와는 왕국을 너의 아들 압살롬의 손에 넘겨주셨어. 이것 봐. 너한테 불행이 닥친 거야. 남의 피를 쏟은 사람이 너니까!”	The Lord hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the Lord hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.
9	스루야의 아들 아비새가 임금에게 말했다. “무슨 까닭으로 이 죽은 개가 저의 주인이신 임금님한테 막말을 합니까? 제가 건너가 그의 머리를 잘라 버리게 해 주십시오.”	Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
10	임금이 말했다. “나의 일에 그대들이 무슨 상관이오? 스루야의 아들들인 그대들! 그가 이렇게 막말을 한 것은 여호와께서 그에게 ‘다윗에게 막말을 해라.’ 하고 말씀하셨기 때문이오. 그렇다면 누가 말할 수 있겠소? ‘당신 왜 이렇게 하는 거야?’라고 말이오.”	And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?
11	다윗이 아비새를 비롯한 자기 신하들 모두에게 말했다. “여기, 내 속에서 나온 내 아들이 나의 목숨을 노리고 있소. 그러니 지금 이 베냐민 사람은 더 말해 무엇 하겠소? 그가 막말하도록 내버려두시오. 여호와께서 그에게 말씀하신 것이니까.	And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him.
12	어쩌면 여호와께서 내가 겪는 어려움을 보실지도 모르지요. 여호와께서 그가 오늘 했던 저주 때문에 나한테 좋은 것을 돌려주실지도 모르지요.”	It may be that the Lord will look on mine affliction, and that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day.
13	다윗과 그의 신하들이 길을 걸어갔다. 시므이가 산비탈을 따라 그의 맞은편에서 걸어가고 있었다. 가면서 그의 맞은편에서 막말을 하며 돌을 던져 댔다. 그러면서 먼지를 뿌려 댔다.	And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14	임금과 그와 함께한 온 백성은 가려고 했던 곳에 이르렀을 때에 지쳐 있었다. 임금은 거기서 한숨을 돌렸다.	And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
15	아히도벨이 압살롬에게 조언을 해 주다 압살롬은 이스라엘 온 백성과 함께 예루살렘으로 들어왔다. 아히도벨이 그와 함께 있었다.	And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16	다윗의 친구인 아렉 사람 후새가 압살롬에게 왔다. 후새가 압살롬에게 말했다. “임금님 만세! 임금님 만세!”	And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
17	압살롬이 후새에게 말했다. “그대의 친구한테 베푸는 한결같은 사랑이 이런 것입니까? 어째서 그대의 친구와 함께 가지 않았습니까?”	And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
18	후새가 압살롬에게 말했다. “그렇지 않습니다. 여호와가 골라 뽑으신 분, 이 백성과 온 이스라엘이 골라 뽑으신 분, 저는 그분의 사람이 되려고 합니다. 그래서 그분과 함께 머물려고 합니다.	And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the Lord, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
19	두 번째로 말씀드리자면, 누구를 제가 섬기려 하겠습니까? 그의 아드님 앞이 아니겠습니까? 제가 임금님의 아버지 앞에서 섬겼듯이 임금님 앞에 있으려고 합니다.”	And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father’s presence, so will I be in thy presence.
20	압살롬이 아히도벨에게 말했다. “여러분이 조언을 해 주세요. 우리가 뭘 해야 할까요?”	Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.
21	아히도벨이 압살롬에게 말했다. “임금님 아버지의 다른 아내들한테로 들어가세요. 그가 왕궁을 지키라고 남겨 둔 사람들이지요. 그러면 온 이스라엘이 듣게 될 것입니다, 임금님께서 임금님의 아버지한테 몹시 밉보였다는 소식을요. 그러면 임금님과 함께한 사람마다 용기를 낼 것입니다.”	And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father’s concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.
22	그들이 압살롬을 위해 옥상 위에 천막을 쳤다. 그러자 압살롬은 온 이스라엘의 눈앞에서 자기 아버지의 왕비가 아닌 다른 아내들에게로 들어갔다.	So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.
23	그즈음에 아히도벨이 해 주는 조언은 마치 사람이 하나님의 말씀을 물어서 받은 말씀과 같았다. 아히도벨의 조언은 다윗에게도 압살롬에게도 모두 그랬다.	And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
