1	아론의 지팡이에 싹이 나다 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2	“이스라엘 사람들에게 말해서, 아버지 쪽 집안에 따라 모든 우두머리에게서 한 집안에 지팡이를 하나씩 가져오게 해라. 열두 개의 지팡이를 가져오게 해라. 각자의 이름은 네가 지팡이에 쓰거라.	Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.
3	아론의 이름은 레위의 지팡이에 써라. 아버지 쪽 집안의 어른마다 지팡이가 하나씩 있어야 하기 때문이다.	And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
4	그 지팡이들은 만남의 천막 안, 내가 너희를 만나 주는 증언상자 앞에 두어라.	And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
5	내가 뽑는 사람, 그 사람의 지팡이에서는 싹이 날 것이다. 너희에게 투덜거리는 이스라엘 사람들의 투덜거림을 내가 눌러 버리고 거기서 벗어날 것이다.”	And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
6	모세가 이스라엘 사람들에게 말하여, 모든 우두머리가 지팡이를 가져오게 했다. 아버지 쪽 집안에 따라 우두머리 한 명에 지팡이 하나씩, 열두 개의 지팡이를 가져오게 했다. 그 가운데는 아론의 지팡이도 있었다.	And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7	모세는 그 지팡이들을 증언의 천막 안, 여호와 앞에 두었다.	And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness.
8	이튿날 모세가 증언의 천막에 들어가 보았다. 그런데, 아, 레위 집안 아론의 지팡이에서 싹이 나고 꽃이 피어서 아몬드 열매가 맺힌 것이 아닌가!	And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9	모세가 여호와 앞에서 지팡이를 다 가지고 나와 모든 이스라엘 사람들에게로 갔다. 그들은 살펴보고 저마다의 지팡이를 돌려받았다.	And Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
10	여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “아론의 지팡이는 증언상자 앞으로 다시 가져가서 간직해 두어라. 그리하여 대드는 사람들에게 보여 줄 증표로 삼아라. 또 그들이 죽지 않도록 나에게 그만 투덜대게 해라.”	And the Lord said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
11	모세가 그렇게 했다. 자기에게 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 했다.	And Moses did so: as the Lord commanded him, so did he.
12	이스라엘 사람들이 모세에게 말했다. “보십시오, 우리는 죽습니다. 망합니다. 다 망합니다.	And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.
13	여호와께서 머무시는 천막에 가까이 가는 사람은 누구든지 죽습니다. 우리가 다 죽어 끝장나야 하겠습니까?”	Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the Lord shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
