1	고라흐 무리가 모세에게 맞서다가 땅에 삼켜지다 고라흐는 이스할의 아들이자 그핫의 손자이자 레위의 증손자였다. 그가 엘리압의 아들들인 다단과 아비람 그리고 벨렛의 아들 온과 함께 무리를 지었다. 이들은 르우벤의 손자들이었다.	Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
2	그들이 모세에게 맞서 일어났다. 이스라엘 사람들 가운데서는 250명이 함께했다. 무리의 우두머리들로 모임에서 뽑힌 이름난 사람들이었다.	And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
3	그들이 모세와 아론에게 맞서려고 모여들어 따졌다. “당신들, 너무하시네요. 무리가 모두 다 거룩하고 여호와께서 그들 가운데 계시는데, 여호와께로 모인 무리 위에 왜 당신들이 올라서려는 것입니까?”	And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the Lord?
4	모세가 듣고 엎드렸다.	And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
5	고라흐와 또 그와 함께 몰려든 사람 모두에게 대답했다. “내일 아침이 되면, 여호와께서 알려 주실 것입니다. 누가 여호와께 딸린 사람, 거룩한 사람인지, 여호와께서 누구를 여호와께 가까이 오게 하실 것인지요. 여호와께서는 친히 뽑으신 사람을 여호와께 가까이 오게 하실 것입니다.	And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the Lord will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
6	고라흐 그대! 또 고라흐와 함께 오신 그대들! 모두 이렇게 해 보세요. 그대들이 제단 불 옮길 때 쓰는 들통(향로)을 가져오세요.	This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
7	내일 거기에다가 불을 담고 여호와 앞에서 그 위에 향을 두십시오. 여호와께서 뽑으시는 사람, 그 사람이야말로 거룩한 사람입니다. 레위 사람 그대들, 너무하십니다.”	And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the Lord to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the Lord doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
8	고라흐에게는 모세가 이렇게 말했다. “레위 사람 그대들, 들어 보십시오.	And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
9	이스라엘의 하나님이 이스라엘의 무리 가운데서 그대들을 갈라내어 여호와께 가까이 오게 하신 것이 그대들한테는 너무 하찮은 일입니까? 여호와께서 머무시는 천막에서 맡은 일을 하고 무리 앞에 서서 무리를 섬기게 하신 것도 그런가요?	Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
10	여호와께서는 고라흐 그대와 그대의 모든 형제 레위 사람들을 여호와께 가까이 오게 하셨습니다. 그런데 그대는 제사장 자리까지 노리는군요.	And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
11	그리하여 그대와 또 그대와 함께하는 모든 사람들이 여호와께 맞서려고 모여들었군요. 아론 형님이 어떤 사람이라고, 그대들이 그분에게 투덜거립니까?”	For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the Lord: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
12	모세가 엘리압의 아들들인 다단과 아비람에게 사람을 보내어 오라고 했다. 그러나 그들은 이렇게 말했다. “우리는 올라가지 않겠습니다.	And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
13	당신이 우리를 젖이 흐르고 꿀이 있는 땅에서 끌어내어 광야에서 죽게 하는 것이 하찮은 일입니까? 그래서 제멋대로 우리 위에 올라서서 지배자 노릇 하려는 것입니까?	Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?
14	당신은 젖이 흐르고 꿀이 있는 땅으로 우리를 데려다주지 않았습니다. 들판이나 포도밭을 차지하게 해 주지 않았습니다. 사람들을 눈먼 사람처럼 만들려는 것입니까? 우리는 올라가지 않겠습니다.”	Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
15	모세가 노여움으로 뜨겁게 불타올라서 여호와께 아뢰었다. “그들의 제물 쪽으로 향하지 마십시오. 저는 그들에게서 나귀 한 마리도 빼앗은 적이 없습니다. 그들 가운데 누구에게도 해코지한 적이 없습니다.”	And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the Lord, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
16	모세가 고라흐에게 또 말했다. “내일 그대와 함께한 사람들을 데리고 여호와 앞으로 오십시오. 그대와 그 사람들과 마찬가지로 아론 형님도 오실 것입니다.	And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the Lord, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
17	그대들은 각자 들통(향로)을 챙겨서 그 위에 향을 두십시오. 각자 자기 들통(향로)을 가져와야 합니다. 여호와 앞에 250개의 들통(향로)을요. 고라흐 그대와 아론 형님도 각자 자기 들통(향로)을 가져와야 합니다.”	And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the Lord every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.
18	그들은 각자 자기 들통(향로)을 가져와서 거기에 불을 담고 그 위에 향을 두었다. 그들은 모세와 아론과 함께 만남의 천막 입구에 섰다.	And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.
19	고라흐가 그들에게 맞서 만남의 천막 입구에 온 무리를 불러 모았다. 그러자 여호와의 영광이 온 무리에게 나타났다.	And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the congregation.
20	여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
21	“너희는 이 무리 가운데서부터 떨어져 나오너라. 내가 그들을 잠깐 사이에 끝장내 버릴 것이다.”	Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
22	그들이 엎드려 아뢰었다. “하나님, 모든 생명체에 생명의 숨결을 주시는 하나님, 죄는 한 사람이 지었는데, 노여움은 온 무리에게 터뜨리십니까?”	And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
23	그러자 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
24	“무리에게 이렇게 말해 주어라. ‘고라흐와 다단과 아비람이 머무는 천막 둘레에서 물러나십시오.’”	Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
25	모세가 일어나 다단과 아비람에게 갔다. 이스라엘의 원로들이 뒤따랐다.	And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
26	모세가 무리에게 말했다. “이 나쁜 사람들의 천막에서 벗어나십시오. 그들의 모든 죄에 휩쓸려 목숨을 잃지 않도록, 그들에게 딸린 것이라면 무엇에든 닿지 않게 하십시오.”	And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
27	무리가 고라흐와 다단과 아비람이 머무는 천막 둘레에서 물러났다. 다단과 아비람은 아내와 자식들과 어린아이들과 함께 자신들의 천막 입구에 서 있었다.	So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
28	모세가 말했다. “이 모든 일은 여호와께서 나를 보내어 하게 하신 것이지 내 맘대로 한 것이 아닙니다. 이 사실을 그대들이 알 수 있는 길은 이러합니다.	And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the Lord hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
29	모든 사람이 보통 죽는 방식으로 이들이 죽음을 당한다고 합시다. 또 모든 사람이 보통 벌받는 방식으로 벌받는다고 합시다. 그러면 여호와께서 나를 보내신 것이 아닙니다.	If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the Lord hath not sent me.
30	그러나 이제껏 들어 본 적이 없는 새로운 것을 여호와께서 창조하신다고 합시다. 그래서 땅이 입을 벌려 이들과 이들에게 딸린 모든 것을 집어삼킨다고 합시다. 그래서 그들이 산 채로 스올(죽은 사람들의 나라)로 내려간다고 합시다. 그러면 그대들은 이 사람들이 여호와를 무례하게 대했음을 깨달을 것입니다.”	But if the Lord make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord.
31	모세가 이 말을 끝내자마자, 그들 아래에 있던 땅이 갈라졌다.	And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
32	땅이 입을 열어 그들과 그들의 집안사람들과 고라흐에게 딸린 사람과 그의 재산을 모조리 집어삼켜 버렸다.	And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
33	그들과 그들에게 딸린 사람들이 모조리, 산 채로 스올(죽은 사람들의 나라)로 내려갔다. 땅이 그들 위를 덮고, 그들은 모임 한가운데서 사라져 버렸다.	They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.
34	그들 둘레에 있던 온 이스라엘이 그들의 소리를 들으면서 달아났다. ‘땅이 우리도 집어삼키겠구나!’ 하고 생각했기 때문이다.	And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
35	불이 여호와께로부터 나와서 향을 바치고 있던 250명을 삼켰다.	And there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
36	들통들을 두들겨 펴서 제단을 입히다 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
37	“아론 제사장의 아들 엘르아살에게 일러 주어 불타고 있는 데에서부터 들통(향로)들을 끄집어내라. 불은 멀리 흩어 뿌려라. 그 들통(향로)들은 거룩하기 때문이다.	Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.
38	죄를 지어 목숨을 잃은 이 사람들의 들통(향로)들은, 가져다가 두들겨 넓게 펴서 제단을 입히는 얇은 판으로 만들어라. 그들이 그것들을 여호와 앞에 바쳐 거룩해졌기 때문이다. 그것들이 이스라엘 사람들에게 증표가 되게 하거라.”	The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the Lord, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
39	엘르아살 제사장은 불에 타 죽은 사람들이 바친 놋들통(놋향로)을 가져다가 두들겨 펴서 제단을 입혔다.	And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:
40	이스라엘 사람들에게 기억하게 하여 아론의 후손이 아니면 여호와 앞에서 향을 피워 바치지 않도록 하려는 것이었다. 그래서 여호와께서 모세를 시켜 말씀하신 것처럼 고라흐와 그의 무리처럼 되지 않도록 하려는 것이었다.	To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the Lord; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the Lord said to him by the hand of Moses.
41	아론이 재앙을 멈추게 하다 이튿날 이스라엘 사람들의 온 무리가 모세와 아론에게 투덜거렸다. “당신들이 여호와의 백성을 죽였소.”	But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the Lord.
42	무리가 모여 모세와 아론에게 맞서려고 했을 때 일어난 일이다. 그들이 만남의 천막을 향하여 몸을 돌렸는데, 거기, 구름이 그 천막을 덮고 있는 것이 아닌가! 여호와의 영광이 나타난 것이다.	And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.
43	모세와 아론은 만남의 천막 앞으로 나아갔다.	And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
44	여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
45	“너희는 이 무리에게서 물러나거라. 내가 그들을 잠깐 사이에 끝장내 버릴 것이다.” 모세와 아론이 엎드렸다.	Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
46	모세가 아론에게 말했다. “들통(향로)을 가져다가 제단 위의 불을 거기에 담고 향을 피우십시오. 서둘러 무리에게 가서 그들의 죄를 없애 주십시오. 노여움이 여호와께로부터 나와서 재난이 일어나기 시작했기 때문입니다.”	And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the Lord; the plague is begun.
47	모세가 말한 대로 아론이 모임 한가운데로 달려갔는데, 아뿔싸, 이미 백성에게 재난이 일어나기 시작한 것이 아닌가! 아론은 들통(향로) 불에 향을 피우고서 백성의 죄를 없애 주었다.	And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.
48	그가 죽은 사람들과 산 사람들 사이에 서니 재앙이 멈췄다.	And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
49	고라흐의 사건으로 죽은 사람들 말고 재앙으로 죽은 사람들이 14,700명이나 되었다.	Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
50	재앙이 멈추자, 아론이 만남의 천막 입구의 모세에게 돌아왔다.	And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
