1	전통을 잘못 지키는 것을 문제 삼으시다 그때에 예루살렘으로부터 바리새파 사람들과 율법학자들이 예수님께 다가와서 말씀드린다.	Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2	“무엇 때문에 선생님의 제자들은 옛 어른들로부터 내려온 전통에서 엇나가는 것입니까? 그들은 빵을 먹을 때에 자기들의 손을 씻지 않으니 말입니다.”	Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3	예수님이 대답하셨다. “무엇 때문에 당신들이야말로 당신들 전통을 이유로 하나님의 계명에서 엇나가는 것입니까?	But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4	하나님은 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. ‘아버지와 어머니를 받들어 모셔라.’ ‘아버지나 어머니를 욕하는 사람은 죽여서 그 삶이 끝나게 해야 한다.’	For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5	그런데 당신들은, 이렇게 주장합니다. ‘누구든지 아버지나 어머니에게 「제가 부모님에게 해 드려야 할 것이 하나님께 바칠 예물이 되었습니다.」라고 말한다고 합시다.	But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6	그러면 그 사람은 자기 아버지를 전혀 받들어 모시지 않아도 괜찮습니다.’ 이렇게 해서 당신들은 하나님의 말씀을 아무것도 아닌 것으로 만들어 버렸습니다. 당신들 전통 때문에요.	And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7	겉 다르고 속 다른 사람들! 당신네들을 두고 이사야가 제대로 예언했네요.	Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8	‘이 백성이 입술로는 나를 떠받들지만, 그들의 마음은 나한테서 멀리 떨어져 있구나.	This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9	나를 받들어 섬겨 봐야 쓸데없는 일이다. 가르친다고 가르치는 것이 사람의 계명들이니.’” ()	But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10	무엇이 사람을 더럽히는지 말씀하시다 또 무리를 가까이 불러서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “잘 듣고 이해하세요.	And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11	입으로 들어가는 것이 사람을 더럽히지는 않습니다. 오히려 입에서 나오는 것, 그것이 사람을 더럽힙니다.”	Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12	그때에 제자들이 다가와서 예수님께 말씀드렸다. “바리새파 사람들이 그 말씀을 듣고서 걸려 넘어진 것을 아십니까?”	Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13	예수님이 대답하셨다. “나의 하늘 아버지께서 심지 않으신 식물은 다 뿌리가 뽑힐 것입니다.	But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14	그들을 내버려두세요. 자기들이 앞 못 보는 사람이면서 앞 못 보는 사람들의 길 안내자 노릇을 하고 있습니다. 앞 못 보는 사람이 앞 못 보는 사람의 길을 이끌면, 둘 다 구덩이에 빠질 겁니다.”	Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15	그러자 베드로가 말을 받아 예수님께 여쭈었다. “이 비유의 뜻을 우리에게 밝히 알려 주십시오.”	Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16	예수님이 말씀하셨다. “그대들마저 아직까지 이해하지 못하나요?	And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17	알아듣지 못해요? 입안으로 들어가는 것은 무엇이든지 배로 들어가서 뒤로 내버려진다는 것을요.	Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18	입에서 나오는 것들은 마음에서 나와요. 그것들이 사람을 더럽힙니다.	But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19	마음에서 나오는 것들로는 악한 생각, 살인, 혼외 관계, 음란한 짓, 도둑질, 거짓 증언, 하나님 모독이 있습니다.	For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20	이것들이 사람을 더럽히는 것들입니다. 그러나 씻지 않은 손으로 먹는 것은 사람을 더럽히지 않습니다.” ()	These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21	가나안 여자의 요청을 들어주시다 거기서 나가셔서 예수님이 티레와 시돈 지방으로 물러가셨다.	Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22	그런데, 보라, 어떤 가나안 여자가 그 지역에서 나와서 거듭 소리쳐 말했다. “저를 불쌍히 여겨 주십시오! 주님, 다윗의 자손님! 제 딸이 심하게 귀신 들려 있습니다.”	And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23	그러나 예수님은 그에게 한 마디 대답도 없으셨다. 그러자 제자들이 다가와서 예수님께 요청드렸다. “그의 소원을 풀어 주시지요. 우리 뒤에서 줄곧 소리치고 있으니까요.”	But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24	그러나 예수님은 대답하셨다. “나는 오직 이스라엘 민족의 잃어버린 양들에게로 보내심을 받았습니다.”	But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25	그 여자가 와서 거듭 엎드려 절하며 말씀드렸다. “주님, 저를 도와주십시오!”	Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26	예수님이 대답하셨다. “자녀들이 먹을 것을 가져다가 강아지들에게 던져 주는 것은 좋지 않습니다.”	But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27	그가 말했다. “예, 주님! 하지만 강아지들도 제 주인의 밥상에서 떨어지는 부스러기는 먹습니다.”	And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28	그때에 예수님이 그에게 대답하셨다. “오, 자매님, 자매님의 믿음이 대단하군요! 바라는 대로 그대에게 이루어지기 바랍니다.” 그러자 바로 그 시각에 그의 딸이 나았다.	Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29	많은 사람들을 고치시다 거기서 자리를 옮겨 예수님이 갈릴래아의 바닷가로 가셨다. 그리고 그 산에 올라가셔서 거기에 앉으셨다.	And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30	그러자 많은 무리들이 예수님께 다가왔다. 지체장애인, 시각장애인, 손이나 발을 잃은 장애인, 언어장애인, 또 다른 많은 장애인들과 함께였다. 사람들이 그들을 예수님의 발 앞에 털썩 내려놓았다. 예수님이 그들을 고쳐 주셨다.	And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
31	그 무리가 놀라워했다. 언어장애인들이 말을 하고, 손이나 발을 잃은 장애인들이 건강해지고 또 지체장애인들이 걸어 다니고 또 시각장애인들이 보게 되는 것을 보았기 때문이다. 그래서 그들은 이스라엘의 하나님께 영광을 돌렸다. ()	Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32	빵 일곱 개와 작은 물고기로도 기적을 베푸시다 예수님이 자기 제자들을 가까이 불러 말씀하셨다. “무리를 보니 내 가슴이 아프네요. 그들이 나와 함께 머무른 지 벌써 3일이나 되었는데, 그들에게 먹을 것이 없어서요. 굶주리게 한 채로 그들을 흩어 보내고 싶지 않군요. 그러면 그들이 길에서 쓰러질지도 모릅니다.”	Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33	그러자 제자들이 예수님께 여쭌다. “우리가 외딴곳에 있는데, 이렇게 엄청난 무리를 배불리 먹일 만한 빵이 어디서 나오겠습니까?”	And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34	예수님이 제자들에게 물으신다. “그대들에게 빵이 얼마나 있나요?” 제자들이 대답했다. “일곱 개 있습니다. 작은 물고기도 몇 마리 있습니다.”	And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35	그러자 예수님이 무리에게 명령하시기를 땅바닥에 자리 잡고 앉으라고 하셨다.	And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36	그러고는 그 일곱 개의 빵과 그 물고기들을 받아 들고서 감사드리셨다. 그러고는 떼어 제자들에게 주셨다. 제자들은 무리들에게 주었다.	And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37	사람들이 모두 먹고 배불렀다. 먹고 남은 조각을 모았더니, 광주리 일곱 개에 가득했다.	And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38	먹은 사람은, 여자들과 아이들 빼고 남자 어른이 4,000명이었다.	And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39	무리들을 흩어 보내시고 예수님이 배에 올라타셨다. 그러고는 마가단 지역으로 가셨다.	And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
