|---|---|---|
Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; |
영원한 생명에 대한 희망에 근거한 것이네. 이 영원한 생명은 거짓말하지 않으시는 하나님이 아주 오래전에 약속하신 것이네. | In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
그런데 이제 하나님이 제때에 그 말씀의 뜻을 선포된 말씀 속에서 드러내셨지. 우리의 구원자 하나님의 명령에 따라 나는, 그 선포하는 일을 맡았네. | But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
| To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: |
| If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
감독은 하나님의 살림지기로서 비난당할 것이 없어야만 하며, 거만하지 않으며, 버럭 화를 내지 않으며, 포도주에 젖어 있지 않으며, 남을 괴롭히지 않으며, 부끄러운 이득을 추구하지 않아야 하네. | For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
오히려 손님 대접하기를 좋아하며, 선한 일을 좋아하며, 신중하며, 의로우며, 고결하며, 자제력이 있어야 하네. | But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
| Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: |
| Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
| One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
이 증언은 참말이네. 그러니까 그들의 잘못을 딱 부러지게 바로잡아 주시게. 그리하여 그들이 믿음 안에서 건전할 수 있도록 말이네. | This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
| Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
| Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
| They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
