1	자기소개와 인사 바울입니다. 하나님의 뜻을 따라 된, 그리스도 예수님의 사도입니다. 나 바울과 형제 디모데가	Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
2	골로새에 있는 성도들, 곧 그리스도 안에 있는 신실한 형제자매들에게 이 편지를 보냅니다. 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게, 하나님 우리 아버지로부터 내리기를 빕니다!	To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3	골로새 성도들을 기억하며 감사 기도를 드리다 우리는 하나님, 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 언제나 감사드립니다. 여러분을 위해 기도할 때마다 말입니다.	We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
4	그리스도 예수님을 믿는 여러분의 믿음과 여러분이 모든 성도들을 향해서 품은 그 사랑을 우리가 들었기 때문입니다.	Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
5	이 믿음과 사랑은, 여러분을 위해 하늘에 쌓아 두신 희망 때문에 생긴 것입니다. 이 희망에 대해 여러분은 진리의 말씀, 곧 복음을 통해서 이미 들었습니다.	For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6	그 복음이 여러분에게도 이르렀습니다. 그 복음이 온 세상에서 열매 맺으며 자라나고 있는 것처럼, 여러분 가운데서도 열매 맺으며 자라나고 있습니다. 여러분이 듣고서 진리 안에서 하나님의 은혜를 깨달아 알게 된 날부터 그렇습니다.	Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
7	여러분이 에바브라한테서 배운 그대로입니다. 그는 사랑하는 우리의 동료 종입니다. 그는 여러분을 위해서 그리스도를 섬기는 믿을 만한 일꾼입니다.	As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
8	또한 성령님 안에서 여러분이 품으신 그 사랑을 우리에게 알려 준 사람이기도 합니다.	Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
9	교회를 위한 기도 이런 까닭에 바로 우리도 소식을 들은 날부터 여러분을 위해 그치지 않고 기도하며 간청하고 있습니다. 온갖 지혜와 영적 통찰력으로 여러분이 하나님의 뜻을 온전히 깨달아 아는 데 조금도 부족함이 없게 되기를 빕니다.	For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10	여러분이 주님께 어울리도록 살아서 모든 면에서 주님 마음에 들게 되기를 빕니다. 온갖 선한 일로 열매를 맺으며 하나님을 온전히 알아 가는 지식에서 자라나게 되기를 빕니다.	That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11	또 하나님의 영광스러운 힘을 따라 온갖 능력을 받아 모든 경우에 견디고 참아 내게 되기를 빕니다. 기쁨으로	Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12	아버지께 감사드리기 바랍니다. 빛 안에서 성도들이 물려받을 것에 여러분도 맘껏 참여하게 해 주신 아버지께요.	Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13	아버지께서는 우리를 어둠이 통치하는 영역에서 건져 내셔서, 아버지께서 사랑하시는 아들의 나라로 옮겨 주셨습니다.	Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14	그 아들 안에서 우리는 죄에서 완전히 풀려남, 곧 죄 용서를 받았습니다.	In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15	그 아들은 보이지 않는 하나님의 모습, 모든 창조물 가운데 맏이시라네.	Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16	그분 안에서 모든 것이 창조되었기 때문이지, 하늘에 있는 것들이나 땅 위에 있는 것들이나, 보이는 것들이나 보이지 않는 것들이나, 왕권이나 통치권이나 지배권이나 권력이나. 모든 것들이 그분을 통해서 또 그분을 위해서 창조되었다네.	For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17	그분 자신은 모든 것들보다 먼저 계신 분이시라네. 모든 것들은 그분 안에서 함께 서 있다네.	And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18	그분 자신은 몸, 곧 교회의 머리시라네. 그분은 시작이시요, 죽은 사람들 가운데서 맨 처음 새로 태어나신 분이시라네. 모든 것들 가운데서 그분 자신이 맨 처음이 되고자 하심이었지.	And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19	하나님이 좋아하셨기 때문이라네, 아들 안에 하나님의 가득함이 온전히 자리 잡게 하시는 것을,	For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20	또 아들을 통해서 모든 것을 하나님과 완전히 화해시키시는 것을. 하나님이 평화를 이루셨다네, 아들이 십자가에서 흘린 피를 통해서. 곧 아들을 통해서 땅 위에 있는 것들이든, 하늘에 있는 것들이든, 모든 것들을 완전히 화해시키셨다네.	And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21	그리스도 덕분에 생겨난 희망 여러분이 한때는 하나님에게서 멀리 떨어져 있었습니다. 생각하는 방식에서는 하나님의 원수였습니다. 그것이 악한 행위들로 드러났지요.	And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22	그러나 이제는 하나님이 그 아들의 육신의 몸 안에서 그 죽으심을 통하여 여러분과 완전히 화해하셨습니다. 그리하여 여러분이 하나님 앞에서 거룩하고 흠잡힐 데 없고 비난당할 것 없는 사람으로 설 수 있게 해 주셨습니다.	In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23	다만 여러분이 믿음에 튼튼히 터를 잡고 굳건하게 계속 머물러 있기만 하면, 또 여러분이 들은 복음의 희망에서 떠밀려 옮겨 가지만 않는다면 말입니다. 이 복음은 하늘 아래 있는 모든 창조물 가운데 선포된 것이며, 나 바울은 이 복음을 위해 섬기는 일꾼이 되었습니다.	If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
24	교회를 위해 바울이 당한 고난과 한 일 이제 나는 여러분을 위해서 당하는 여러 고난 때문에 기뻐합니다. 그리스도께서 당하신 여러 큰 어려움의 남은 몫을 그리스도의 몸인 교회를 위해서 내 육신에 가득 채웁니다.	Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
25	나는, 교회를 위해 섬기는 일꾼이 되었습니다. 그것은 하나님의 말씀을 온전히 알리도록 여러분을 위해 하나님이 나에게 맡기신 일의 책임을 따라서 된 일입니다.	Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26	그 말씀은 아주 오래전부터 여러 세대 동안 감추어져 있던 비밀입니다. 그런데 그 비밀이 이제 그분의 성도들에게 드러났습니다.	Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27	하나님이 그들에게 알리기를 바라셨던 것입니다. 다른 민족들 가운데 나타난 이 비밀의 영광이 얼마나 풍성한지를요! 이 비밀은 여러분 가운데 계신 그리스도, 곧 영광의 희망이십니다.	To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28	그 그리스도를 바로 우리가 널리 알리고 있는 것입니다. 온갖 지혜로 모든 사람을 타이르고 모든 사람을 가르치면서요. 그것은 모든 사람을 그리스도 안에서 완전한 사람으로 세워 놓기 위해서입니다.	Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29	이 일을 위해 나도 힘써 일하고 있습니다. 그리스도께서 내 안에서 능력으로 베푸시는 힘을 따라 애써 싸우면서 말입니다.	Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
