| 1 | «Ωιδή των Αναβαθμών, του Σολομώντος.» Εάν ο Κύριος δεν οικοδομήση οίκον, εις μάτην κοπιάζουσιν οι οικοδομούντες αυτόν· εάν ο Κύριος δεν φυλάξη πόλιν, εις μάτην αγρυπνεί ο φυλάττων. | Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. |
| 2 | Μάταιον είναι εις εσάς να σηκόνησθε πρωΐ, να πλαγιάζητε αργά, τρώγοντες τον άρτον του κόπου· ο Κύριος βεβαίως δίδει ύπνον εις τον αγαπητόν αυτού. | It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. |
| 3 | Ιδού, κληρονομία παρά του Κυρίου είναι τα τέκνα· μισθός αυτού ο καρπός της κοιλίας. | Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. |

| 5 | Μακάριος ο άνθρωπος, όστις εγέμισε την βελοθήκην αυτού εκ τούτων· οι τοιούτοι δεν θέλουσι καταισχυνθή, όταν λαλώσι μετά των εχθρών εν τη πύλη. | Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. |
