| 1 | 그때에 군대의 모든 대장과 가레아의 아들 요하난과 호사야의 아들 여사냐와 가장 작은 자로부터 가장 큰 자에 이르기까지 온 백성이 가까이 나아와 | Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest, came near, |
| 2 | 대언자 예레미야에게 이르되, 청하건대 당신 앞에서 드리는 우리의 간구를 받으시고 우리 곧 이 모든 남은 자를 위해 주 당신의 하나님께 기도하소서. (당신의 눈이 우리를 보는 바와 같이 우리가 많은 사람 중에서 조금만 남았으니) | And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the Lord thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:) |

| 4 | 이에 대언자 예레미야가 그들에게 이르되, 내가 너희 말을 들었은즉, 보라, 내가 너희 말대로 주 너희 하나님께 기도하고 주께서 너희에게 무엇으로 응답하시든지 너희에게 그것을 밝히 알리며 아무것도 너희에게 감추지 아니하리라, 하니 | Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the Lord your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the Lord shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you. |
| 5 | 그때에 그들이 예레미야에게 이르되, 만일 주 당신의 하나님께서 당신을 우리에게 보내사 이루시려는 모든 것대로 우리가 행하지 아니하거든 주께서 우리 사이에 참되고 신실한 증인이 되시기를 원하나이다. | Then they said to Jeremiah, The Lord be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the Lord thy God shall send thee to us. |
| 6 | 우리가 당신을 주 우리 하나님께 보내오니 일이 좋든지 나쁘든지 우리가 그분의 음성에 순종하리이다. 우리가 주 우리 하나님의 음성에 순종하면 잘되리이다, 하니라. | Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the Lord our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the Lord our God. |
| 7 | ¶열흘 뒤에 주의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하니 | And it came to pass after ten days, that the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah. |
| 8 | 그때에 그가 가레아의 아들 요하난과 그와 함께한 군대의 모든 대장과 가장 작은 자로부터 가장 큰 자에 이르기까지 온 백성을 부르고 | Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest, |
| 9 | 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 나를 보내어 너희의 간구를 주 곧 이스라엘의 하나님 앞에 드리게 하였거니와 그분께서 이같이 말씀하시기를, | And said unto them, Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to present your supplication before him; |
| 10 | 만일 너희가 여전히 이 땅에 머무르고자 하면 내가 너희를 세우고 헐지 아니하며 너희를 심고 뽑지 아니하리니 내가 너희에게 내린 재앙에 대하여 뜻을 돌이키노라. | If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up: for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you. |
| 11 | 주가 말하노라. 너희가 두려워하는 바빌론 왕을 두려워하지 말라. 내가 너희와 함께하여 너희를 구원하고 너희를 그의 손에서 건지리니 그를 두려워하지 말라. | Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, saith the Lord: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand. |
| 12 | 내가 너희에게 긍휼을 베풀리니 그가 너희에게 긍휼을 베풀어 너희를 너희 땅으로 돌아가게 하리라. | And I will shew mercies unto you, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land. |
| 13 | ¶그러나 만일 너희가 말하기를, 우리가 이 땅에 거하지 아니하리라, 하며 주 너희 하나님의 음성에 순종하지 아니하고 | But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the Lord your God, |
| 14 | 이르기를, 아니라. 우리는 전쟁도 보지 아니하고 나팔 소리도 듣지 아니하며 빵의 굶주림도 있지 아니할 이집트 땅으로 들어가 거기 거하리라, 하면 | Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell: |
| 15 | 너희 유다의 남은 자들아, 그런즉 이제 주의 말을 들을지어다. 만군의 주 곧 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 너희가 만일 이집트로 들어가려고 너희 얼굴을 확실히 고정하고 가서 거기에 머무르려 하면 | And now therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye remnant of Judah; Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; If ye wholly set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there; |
| 16 | 너희가 두려워하던 칼이 거기 곧 이집트 땅에서 너희를 따라잡을 것이요, 너희가 무서워하던 기근이 거기 곧 이집트에서 너희 뒤를 바싹 따르리니 너희가 거기서 죽으리라. | Then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die. |
| 17 | 이집트로 들어가 거기에 머무르려고 자기 얼굴을 고정한 모든 사람이 그와 같이 되리니 그들이 칼과 기근과 역병으로 죽을 것이요, 그들 중 아무도 내가 그들에게 내릴 재앙을 피해 살아남거나 도피하지 못하리라. | So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them. |
| 18 | 만군의 주 곧 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 내 분노와 내 격노가 예루살렘 거주민들에게 쏟아진 것 같이 너희가 이집트에 들어갈 때에 내 격노가 너희에게 쏟아지리니 너희가 혐오거리와 놀랄 일과 저주와 수치거리가 되리라. 너희가 다시는 이곳을 보지 못하리라, 하시느니라. | For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more. |
| 19 | ¶오 너희 곧 유다의 남은 자들아, 주께서 너희에 관하여 말씀하시기를, 너희는 이집트로 들어가지 말라, 하셨은즉 내가 이 날 너희에게 경고한 것을 분명히 알라. | The Lord hath said concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah; Go ye not into Egypt: know certainly that I have admonished you this day. |
| 20 | 너희가 나를 주 너희 하나님께 보내며 이르기를, 우리를 위해 주 우리 하나님께 기도하고 주 우리 하나님께서 말씀하시는 모든 것대로 우리에게 밝히 알리소서. 우리가 그것을 행하리이다, 하여 너희 마음속으로 속였느니라. | For ye dissembled in your hearts, when ye sent me unto the Lord your God, saying, Pray for us unto the Lord our God; and according unto all that the Lord our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it. |
| 21 | 이제 내가 이 날 그것을 너희에게 밝히 알렸으되 너희가 주 너희 하나님의 음성에 순종하지 아니하고 그분께서 나를 너희에게 보내사 이루시려는 것에도 순종하지 아니하였나니 | And now I have this day declared it to you; but ye have not obeyed the voice of the Lord your God, nor any thing for the which he hath sent me unto you. |
| 22 | 그런즉 이제 너희가 가서 머물고자 하는 곳에서 너희가 칼과 기근과 역병에 죽을 줄 분명히 알라, 하니라. | Now therefore know certainly that ye shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to go and to sojourn. |
