1 주가 이같이 말하노라. 유다 왕의 집으로 내려가 거기서 이 말을 전하여 Thus saith the Lord; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,
2 이르기를, 오 다윗의 왕좌에 앉은 유다 왕이여, 너와 네 신하들과 이 문들로 들어오는 네 백성은 주의 말씀을 들을지어다. And say, Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:
3 주가 이같이 말하노라. 너희는 판단의 공의와 의를 집행하고 학대하는 자의 손에서 노략 당한 자를 건지며 나그네와 아버지 없는 자와 과부에게 부당하게 행하거나 폭력을 행사하지 말고 이곳에서 무죄한 피를 흘리지 말라. Thus saith the Lord; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
4 너희가 참으로 이 일을 행하면 다윗의 왕좌에 앉을 왕들이 병거와 말을 타고 이 집의 문들로 들어오리니 곧 왕과 그의 신하들과 그의 백성이 그리하리라. For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
5 그러나 너희가 이 말들을 듣지 아니하면 내가 나를 두고 맹세하노니 이 집이 황폐하게 되리라. 주가 말하노라. But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation.
6 주가 유다 왕의 집에게 이같이 말하노라. 네가 내게 길르앗이 되며 레바논의 머리가 될지라도 내가 반드시 너로 하여금 광야와 사람이 거주하지 아니하는 도시들이 되게 하리라. For thus saith the Lord unto the king’s house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.
7 내가 너를 쳐서 멸할 자들을 예비하리니 그들이 저마다 자기 무기를 가지고 네 최상품 백향목을 베어 불에 던지리라. And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
8 또 많은 민족들이 이 도시를 지나가며 저마다 자기 이웃에게 말하기를, 어찌하여 주께서 이 큰 도시에 이같이 행하셨는가? 하리니 And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this great city?
9 그때에 그들이 대답하되, 그 까닭은 그들이 주 자기들의 하나님의 언약을 버리고 다른 신들에게 경배하며 그들을 섬겼기 때문이라, 하리라, 하라. Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.
10 ¶너희는 죽은 자를 위하여 울지 말고 그를 위하여 탄식하지도 말며 오직 떠나가는 자를 위하여 몹시 슬피 울라. 그가 다시는 돌아오지 못하고 자기 고국을 보지 못하리라. Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.
11 주가 유다 왕 요시야의 아들 곧 자기 아버지 요시야를 대신하여 통치하다가 이곳에서 나아간 살룸에 대해 이같이 말하노라. 그가 다시는 거기로 돌아오지 못하고 For thus saith the Lord touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:
12 그들이 그를 포로로 끌고 간 곳에서 죽으리니 그가 다시는 이 땅을 보지 못하리라. But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.
13 ¶불의로 자기 집을 지으며 부당하게 자기 방들을 짓는 자 곧 품삯도 주지 아니하고 자기 이웃을 고용하여 섬기게 하며 그에게 일의 대가를 주지 아니하는 자에게 화가 있을지어다! Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;
14 그가 이르기를, 내가 나를 위하여 넓은 집과 큰 방들을 지으리라, 하고 자기를 위하여 창문들을 만들며 그것을 백향목으로 입히고 주홍색으로 칠하였도다. That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
15 네가 네 자신을 백향목 안에 넣어 봉하였으므로 통치하겠느냐? 네 아버지가 먹고 마시며 판단의 공의와 정의를 행하더니 그때에 그가 형통하지 아니하였느냐? Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?
16 그가 가난한 자와 궁핍한 자의 사정을 바르게 재판하더니 그때에 그가 형통하였도다. 이것이 나를 아는 것이 아니냐? 주가 말하노라. He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the Lord.
17 그러나 네 눈과 네 마음은 오직 네 탐욕과 무죄한 피를 흘리는 것과 학대와 폭력만을 바라며 그것을 행하려 하는도다. But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.
18 그러므로 주가 유다 왕 요시야의 아들 여호야김에 대하여 이같이 말하노라. 그들이 그를 위해, 아, 내 형제여! 아, 자매여! 하고 애통하지 아니하며 그를 위해, 아, 주군이여! 아, 그의 영광이여! 하고 애통하지도 아니하리라. Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!
19 그가 예루살렘의 성문들 너머로 끌려가 던져지고 나귀가 묻히는 것 같이 묻히리라. He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
20 ¶레바논에 올라가서 외치고 바산에서 네 목소리를 높이며 통행로에서 외치라. 너를 사랑하는 모든 자들이 멸망하였느니라. Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.
21 네가 형통할 때에 내가 네게 말하였으나 너는 이르기를, 나는 듣지 아니하리라, 하였나니 이것 즉 네가 내 목소리에 순종하지 아니한 것이 어려서부터 네 습관이었노라. I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.
22 바람이 네 목양자들을 다 먹어 버리고 또 네 사랑하는 자들은 포로가 되리니 그때에 네가 네 모든 사악함으로 인하여 반드시 부끄러움을 당하고 당황하리라. The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
23 오 백향목 안에 보금자리를 만드는 레바논의 거주민아, 산고를 겪는 여인의 진통 같은 산통이 네게 임할 때에 네가 얼마나 호의적이겠느냐! O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
24 주가 말하노라. 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니 비록 유다 왕 여호야김의 아들 고니야가 내 오른손의 인장 반지라 할지라도 내가 거기서 너를 빼내어 As I live, saith the Lord, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;
25 네 생명을 찾는 자들의 손과 네가 두려워하는 얼굴을 가진 자들의 손 곧 바빌론 왕 느부갓레살의 손과 갈대아 사람들의 손에 넘겨주리라. And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
26 또 내가 너와 너를 낳은 네 어머니를 다른 나라 곧 너희가 태어나지 아니한 곳으로 쫓아내리니 거기서 너희가 죽으려니와 And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
27 그들이 돌아오기를 사모하는 그 땅으로 거기로 돌아오지 못하리라. But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.
28 이 사람 고니야는 멸시받으며 부서진 우상이냐? 그는 아무 기쁨도 없는 그릇이냐? 어찌하여 그들이 쫓겨나되 곧 그와 그의 씨가 자기들이 알지도 못하는 땅으로 쫓겨났느냐? Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?
29 오 땅이여, 땅이여, 땅이여, 주의 말을 들을지어다. O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord.
30 주가 이같이 말하노라. 너희는 이 사람을 자식이 없는 자, 자기 날들에 형통하지 못할 자라고 기록하라. 그의 씨 중에 형통하여 다윗의 왕좌에 앉아 유다 안에서 다스릴 자가 다시는 없으리라. Thus saith the Lord, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
