| 1 | 시드기야 왕이 멜기야의 아들 바스훌과 제사장 마아세야의 아들 스바냐를 예레미야에게 보냈을 때에 주로부터 그에게 임한 말씀이라. 그들이 이르기를, | The word which came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying, |
| 2 | 바빌론 왕 느부갓레살이 우리를 치려고 전쟁을 일으키니 원하건대 우리를 위하여 주께 물으라. 주께서 자신의 모든 놀라운 일들에 따라 우리를 다루시면 그가 우리를 떠나 올라가리라, 하니라. | Enquire, I pray thee, of the Lord for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the Lord will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us. |
| 3 | ¶이에 예레미야가 그들에게 이르되, 너희는 시드기야에게 이같이 말할지니라. | Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah: |
| 4 | 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 성벽 밖에서 너희를 에워싸는 바빌론 왕과 갈대아 사람들에게 맞서 싸우기 위해 너희가 사용할 너희 손의 전쟁 무기를 내가 뒤로 돌릴 것이요, 또 그들을 모아 이 도시의 한가운데로 들어오게 하리라. | Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city. |
| 5 | 내가 친히 넓게 뻗은 손과 강한 팔로 곧 분노와 격노와 큰 진노로 너희와 싸우며 | And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. |
| 6 | 또 내가 사람이나 짐승이나 이 도시에 거하는 것들을 다 치리니 그들이 큰 역병으로 죽으리라, 하라. | And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence. |
| 7 | 주가 말하노라. 그 뒤에 내가 유다 왕 시드기야와 그의 신하들과 백성과 또 역병과 칼과 기근을 피하여 이 도시에 남은 자들을 바빌론 왕 느부갓레살의 손과 그들의 원수들의 손과 그들의 생명을 찾는 자들의 손에 넘겨주리니 그가 칼날로 그들을 치되 그들을 아끼지 아니하고 불쌍히 여기지 아니하며 긍휼을 베풀지 아니하리라. | And afterward, saith the Lord, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy. |
| 8 | ¶너는 또 이 백성에게 이르기를, 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 너희 앞에 생명의 길과 사망의 길을 두었노라. | And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. |
| 9 | 이 도시에 머무는 자는 칼과 기근과 역병에 죽으려니와 너희를 에워싸는 갈대아 사람들에게 나가서 항복하는 자는 살리니 그의 생명이 그에게 탈취물이 되리라. | He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey. |
| 10 | 내가 복이 아니라 화를 내리려고 이 도시를 향해 내 얼굴을 고정하였노라. 주가 말하노라. 그것이 바빌론 왕의 손에 넘어가리니 그가 그것을 불로 태우리라, 하라. | For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the Lord: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire. |
| 11 | ¶또한 유다 왕의 집에 대하여는 이르되, 너희는 주의 말씀을 들으라. | And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of the Lord; |
| 12 | 주가 이같이 말하노라. 오 다윗의 집아, 아침에 심판을 집행하며 학대하는 자의 손에서 노략 당한 자를 건지라. 그리하지 아니하면 너희 행위들이 악하므로 내 격노가 불같이 나가서 태우리니 아무도 능히 그것을 끄지 못하리라. | O house of David, thus saith the Lord; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. |
| 13 | 주가 말하노라. 오 골짜기와 평야의 바위에 사는 거주민아, 보라, 내가 너를 대적하노라. 너는 말하기를, 누가 내려와서 우리를 치리요? 누가 우리의 처소로 들어오리요? 하거니와 | Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the Lord; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations? |
| 14 | 내가 너희 행위들의 열매대로 너희를 벌하고 그것의 수풀에 불을 놓으리니 그 불이 그것 주변의 모든 것을 삼키리라. 주가 말하노라. | But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the Lord: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it. |
