In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.
| And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.
| Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.
| And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
| Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
| In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
일이 이렇게 된 것은 이스라엘 자손이 자기들을 이집트 땅에서 데리고 올라와 이집트 왕 파라오의 손 밑에서 벗어나게 하신 주 자기들의 하나님께 죄를 짓고 또 다른 신들을 두려워하며 | For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
| And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
이스라엘 자손이 은밀히 주 자기들의 하나님을 대적하며 옳지 않은 그 일들을 행하여 파수꾼들의 망대로부터 성벽을 두른 도시에 이르기까지 자기들의 모든 도시에 자기들을 위해 산당들을 건축하고 | And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:
또 주께서 자기들 앞에서 쫓아내신 이교도들이 행한 것 같이 모든 산당에서 분향하고 또 사악한 일들을 행하여 주의 분노를 일으켰으니 | And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the Lord carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger:
| For they served idols, whereof the Lord had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.
여전히 주께서 모든 대언자들과 모든 선견자들을 통해 이스라엘과 유다에게 증언하사 이르시기를, 너희는 너희의 악한 길들에서 돌이키고 내 명령과 내 법규를 지키되 내가 너희 조상들에게 명령한 모든 율법 곧 내 종 대언자들을 통해 너희에게 보낸 모든 율법대로 지키라, 하셨으나 | Yet the Lord testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
그럼에도 불구하고 그들이 들으려 하지 아니하고 자기들의 목을 굳게 하되 주 자기들의 하나님을 믿지 아니하던 자기 조상들의 목과 같이 하여 | Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God.
| And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.
또 그들이 주 자기들의 하나님의 모든 명령을 버리고 자기들을 위해 부어 만든 형상들 곧 송아지 두 마리를 만들며 또 작은 숲을 만들고 하늘의 온 군대에게 경배하며 또 바알을 섬기고 | And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
| And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
| Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
| Also Judah kept not the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
| And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
여로보암이 이스라엘을 몰아붙여 주를 따르지 못하게 하고 그들로 하여금 큰 죄를 짓게 하니 | For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the Lord, and made them sin a great sin.
이스라엘 자손이 여로보암이 행한 그의 모든 죄 가운데서 걸었더라. 그들이 그 죄들에서 떠나지 아니하더니 | For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;
| Until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
| And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
| And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slew some of them.
그러므로 그들이 아시리아 왕에게 말하여 이르되, 왕께서 데려다가 사마리아의 도시들에 두신 민족들이 그 땅의 신에 대한 관습을 알지 못하므로 그가 사자들을 그들 가운데 보내매, 보소서, 사자들이 그들을 죽였사오니 이는 그들이 그 땅의 신에 대한 관습을 알지 못하기 때문이니이다, 하매 | Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.
| Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.
| Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth–el, and taught them how they should fear the Lord.
그러나 각 민족이 자기들의 신들을 만들어 사마리아 사람들이 만든 산당들의 집들에 두되 각 민족이 자기들이 거하던 도시들에서 그와 같이 하여 | Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
And the men of Babylon made Succoth–benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
| And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
| So they feared the Lord, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
| They feared the Lord, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.
이 날까지 그들이 예전의 관습대로 행하여 주를 두려워하지 아니하며 또 주께서 이스라엘이라는 이름을 주신 야곱의 자손에게 친히 명령하신 것 즉 그들의 법규와 그들의 규례와 율법과 명령을 따라 행하지 아니하니라. | Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the Lord, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
전에 주께서 야곱의 자손과 언약을 맺으시고 그들에게 명하여 이르시되, 너희는 다른 신들을 두려워하지 말고 그들에게 절하지 말며 그들을 섬기지 말고 그들에게 희생물을 드리지 말며 | With whom the Lord had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:
| But the Lord, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.
또 그가 너희를 위하여 기록한 법규와 규례와 율법과 명령을 너희가 지켜 영원히 행하고 다른 신들을 두려워하지 말며 | And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.
And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.
But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
| Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.
| So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
