1 그때에 온 이스라엘이 모여 헤브론에 이르러 다윗에게 나아와 이르되, 보소서, 우리는 왕의 골육이니이다. Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2 또한 지나간 때 곧 사울이 왕이었을 때에도 이스라엘을 나가게 하고 들어오게 하신 이는 왕이었고 주 왕의 하나님께서도 왕에게 말씀하시기를, 네가 내 백성 이스라엘을 먹이며 내 백성 이스라엘을 다스릴 치리자가 되리라, 하셨나이다, 하니라. And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.
3 그러므로 이스라엘의 모든 장로가 헤브론에 이르러 왕에게 나아오매 다윗이 헤브론에서 주 앞에서 그들과 언약을 맺으니 그들이 사무엘을 통하여 하신 주의 말씀대로 다윗에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘을 다스릴 왕으로 삼았더라. Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.
4 ¶다윗과 온 이스라엘이 예루살렘 곧 여부스에 갔는데 그 땅의 거주민 여부스 족속이 거기 있었더라. And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5 여부스 거주민들이 다윗에게 이르되, 네가 여기로 들어오지 못하리라, 하였음에도 불구하고 다윗이 시온 성채를 빼앗았는데 그것이 곧 다윗의 도시니라. And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6 다윗이 이르기를, 누구든지 먼저 여부스 족속을 치는 자는 우두머리와 대장이 되리라, 하였더니 이에 스루야의 아들 요압이 먼저 올라갔으므로 우두머리가 되었더라. And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7 다윗이 그 성채에 거하였으므로 그들이 그것을 다윗의 도시라 불렀더라. And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8 그가 돌아가며 밀로에서부터 사방으로 그 도시를 세우고 그 도시의 남은 부분은 요압이 보수하였더라. And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 만군의 주께서 다윗과 함께 계셨으므로 이처럼 그가 점점 더 창대하게 되었더라. So David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.
10 ¶다윗이 소유한 용사들의 우두머리들은 또한 이러하니라. 이들이 그의 왕국에서 그와 더불어 또 온 이스라엘과 더불어 스스로 힘을 키우고 이스라엘에 관한 주의 말씀대로 그를 왕으로 삼았더라. These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
11 다윗이 소유한 용사들의 수는 이러하니라. 하그몬 사람 야소브암은 대장들의 우두머리더라. 그가 자기 창을 들어 쳐서 홀로 한 번에 삼백 명을 죽였더라. And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.
12 그 다음은 아호아 사람 도도의 아들 엘르아살인데 그는 세 용사 중의 하나더라. And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.
13 그가 바스담밈에서 다윗과 함께 있을 때에 블레셋 사람들이 거기에 함께 모여 싸웠는데 거기에 보리가 많이 난 땅이 있더라. 백성이 블레셋 사람들 앞에서 도망하였으나 He was with David at Pas–dammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14 그들이 그 땅 한가운데 서서 그 땅을 건져 내고 블레셋 사람들을 죽이니 주께서 큰 구출로 그들을 구원하셨더라. And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance.
15 ¶이제 서른 명의 대장들 중에서 세 사람이 바위로 내려가 아둘람 굴에 있던 다윗에게 이르렀고 블레셋 사람들의 군대는 르바임 골짜기에 진을 쳤더라. Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16 다윗은 그때에 요새에 있었고 블레셋 사람들의 수비대는 그때에 베들레헴에 있었더라. And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Beth–lehem.
17 다윗이 애타게 바라며 이르되, 오 누가 베들레헴 성문 옆에 있는 우물의 물을 내게 주어 마시게 할까! 하매 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, that is at the gate!
18 그 세 사람이 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 뚫고 나가서 베들레헴 성문 옆에 있던 우물에서 물을 긷고 그것을 취해 다윗에게 가져왔으나 다윗이 그것을 마시려 하지 아니하고 그것을 주께 부어 드리며 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the Lord,
19 이르되, 내 하나님이여, 내가 결코 이런 일을 하지 못하게 하옵소서. 생명의 위험을 무릅쓴 이 사람들의 피를 내가 마시리이까? 그들이 생명의 위험을 무릅쓰고 그것을 가져왔나이다, 하고 그런 까닭에 그가 그것을 마시려 하지 아니하니라. 가장 강한 이 세 사람이 이런 일들을 행하였더라. And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
20 ¶요압의 동생 아비새는 그 세 사람의 우두머리였는데 그가 창을 들어 삼백 명을 쳐서 죽이고 그 세 사람 가운데 이름을 얻었더라. And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.
21 그 세 사람 중에서 그가 그들의 대장이므로 다른 두 사람보다 더 존귀하였으나 첫째 세 사람에게는 미치지 못하였더라. Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.
22 갑스엘 출신 용사의 손자요, 여호야다의 아들인 브나야는 많은 일을 행하였더라. 그가 사자 같은 모압 사람 두 명을 죽였고 또 눈 오는 날에 내려가 구덩이에서 사자 한 마리를 죽였으며 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
23 또 키가 큰 이집트 사람을 죽였는데 그의 키는 오 큐빗이더라. 그 이집트 사람의 손에 베틀 채 같은 창이 있었으나 그가 막대기를 가지고 그에게 내려가 그 이집트 사람의 손에서 창을 빼앗아 그의 창으로 그를 죽였더라. And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.
24 여호야다의 아들 브나야가 이런 일들을 행하였으므로 그 세 용사 가운데 이름을 얻었더라. These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.
25 보라, 그가 서른 명 가운데 존귀하였으나 첫째 세 사람에게는 미치지 못하였더라. 다윗이 그를 세워 자기의 호위대를 다스리게 하였더라. Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.
26 ¶또한 군대의 용맹한 자들은 요압의 동생 아사헬과 베들레헴 출신의 도도의 아들 엘하난과 Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth–lehem,
27 하롤 사람 삼못과 블론 사람 헬레스와 Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28 드고아 사람 익게스의 아들 이라와 안도스 사람 아비에셀과 Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi–ezer the Antothite,
29 후사 사람 십브개와 아호아 사람 일래와 Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30 느도바 사람 마하래와 느도바 사람 바아나의 아들 헬렛과 Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31 베냐민 자손에게 속한 기브아의 리배의 아들 잇대와 비라돈 사람 브나야와 Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
32 가아스 시내의 후래와 아르밧 사람 아비엘과 Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33 바하룸 사람 아스마벳과 사알본 사람 엘리아바와 Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
34 기손 사람 하셈의 아들들과 하랄 사람 사게의 아들 요나단과 The sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite,
35 하랄 사람 사갈의 아들 아히암과 울의 아들 엘리발과 Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36 므게랏 사람 헤벨과 블론 사람 아히야와 Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,
37 갈멜 사람 헤스로와 에스배의 아들 나아래와 Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,
38 나단의 형제 요엘과 하그리의 아들 밉할과 Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Haggeri,
39 암몬 족속 셀렉과 스루야의 아들 요압의 병기 드는 자 곧 베롯 사람 나하래와 Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armourbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
40 이델 사람 이라와 이델 사람 가렙과 Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
41 헷 족속 우리야와 알래의 아들 사밧과 Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,
42 르우벤 족속 시사의 아들 곧 르우벤 족속의 대장 아디나와 그와 함께한 서른 명과 Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a captain of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,
43 마아가의 아들 하난과 미덴 사람 요사밧과 Hanan the son of Maachah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,
44 아스드랏 사람 웃시야와 아로엘 사람 호담의 아들들 사마와 여히엘과 Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jehiel the sons of Hothan the Aroerite,
45 시므리의 아들 여디아엘과 그의 형제 디스 사람 요하와 Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46 마하비 사람 엘리엘과 엘나암의 아들들 여리배와 요사비야와 또 모압 족속 이드마와 Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
47 엘리엘과 오벳과 므소바 사람 야시엘이더라. Eliel, and Obed, and Jasiel the Mesobaite.
