| 1 | 이제 블레셋 사람들이 이스라엘과 싸웠는데 이스라엘 사람들이 블레셋 사람들 앞에서 도망하여 길보아 산에서 죽임을 당해 쓰러지니라. | Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa. |
| 2 | 블레셋 사람들이 사울과 그의 아들들을 맹렬히 추격하여 사울의 아들 요나단과 아비나답과 말기수아를 죽이고 | And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi–shua, the sons of Saul. |
| 3 | 싸움이 사울에게 심히 불리하게 되어 활 쏘는 자들이 그를 맞히매 그가 그 활 쏘는 자들로 인하여 다치니라. | And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers. |
| 4 | 이에 사울이 자기의 병기 드는 자에게 이르되, 네 칼을 빼어 그것으로 나를 찌르라. 이 할례 받지 않은 자들이 와서 나를 능욕할까 염려하노라, 하였으나 그의 병기를 드는 자가 심히 두려워하여 하려 하지 아니하므로 이에 사울이 칼을 취하여 그 위에 쓰러지매 | Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it. |

| 7 | 골짜기에 있던 이스라엘의 모든 사람들이 그들이 도망한 것과 사울과 그의 아들들이 죽은 것을 보고 자기들의 도시들을 버리고 도망하매 블레셋 사람들이 와서 그 도시들에 거하니라. | And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them. |

| 12 | 그들 곧 모든 용맹한 자들이 일어나 사울의 몸과 그의 아들들의 몸을 취하여 야베스로 가져다가 야베스에 있는 상수리나무 밑에 그들의 뼈를 묻고 이레 동안 금식하였더라. | They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days. |
| 13 | ¶이같이 사울은 그가 주께 범한 범법으로 인해 죽었더라. 그가 주의 말씀을 거역하여 지키지 아니하였으며 또 부리는 영을 지닌 자에게 조언을 구하기 위해 그 영에게 묻고 | So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; |
| 14 | 주께 여쭙지 아니하였으므로 그분께서 그를 죽이시고 왕국을 이새의 아들 다윗에게 넘기셨더라. | And enquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse. |
