1 이스라엘 자손이 다시 주의 눈앞에서 악을 행하므로 주께서 그들을 사십 년 동안 블레셋 사람들의 손에 넘겨주시니라. And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
2 ¶소라 사람으로 단 사람들의 가족에 속한 자 중에 마노아라는 이름의 어떤 사람이 있더라. 그의 아내는 수태하지 못하므로 아이를 낳지 못하더라. And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.
3 주의 천사가 그 여인에게 나타나 그녀에게 이르되, 이제 보라, 네가 수태하지 못하므로 낳지 못하였으나 수태하여 아들을 낳으리라. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
4 그러므로 이제 원하건대 주의하여 포도즙과 독주를 마시지 말며 부정한 것은 아무것도 먹지 말라. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
5 보라, 네가 수태하여 아들을 낳으리라. 그의 머리에 삭도를 대지 말지니 그 아이는 태에서부터 하나님께 바친 나사르 사람이 되리라. 그가 블레셋 사람들의 손에서 이스라엘을 건져 내기 시작하리라, 하니라. For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
6 ¶이에 그 여인이 가서 자기 남편에게 고하여 이르되, 하나님의 사람이 내게 왔는데 그의 용모가 마치 하나님의 천사의 용모 같아서 심히 두려우므로 그가 어디서 왔는지 내가 묻지 못하였고 그도 자기 이름을 내게 말하지 아니하였나이다. Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
7 그러나 그가 내게 말하기를, 보라, 네가 수태하여 아들을 낳으리니 이제 포도즙과 독주를 마시지 말며 부정한 것은 아무것도 먹지 말라. 그 아이는 태에서부터 죽는 날까지 하나님께 바친 나사르 사람이 되리라, 하더이다, 하니라. But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
8 ¶이에 마노아가 주께 간청하여 이르되, 오 내 주여, 주께서 보내신 하나님의 사람이 우리에게 다시 와서 앞으로 태어날 그 아이에게 우리가 무엇을 해야 할지 우리를 가르치게 하소서, 하매 Then Manoah intreated the Lord, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
9 하나님께서 마노아의 목소리에 귀를 기울이시니라. 그 여인이 밭에 앉았을 때에 하나님의 천사가 다시 그녀에게 왔으나 그녀의 남편 마노아는 그녀와 함께 있지 아니하였더라. And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.
10 그 여인이 급히 달려가서 자기 남편에게 알리며 그에게 이르되, 보소서, 다른 날에 내게 왔던 남자가 내게 나타났나이다, 하니라. And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.
11 마노아가 일어나 자기 아내를 따라가서 그 남자에게 이르러 그에게 이르되, 당신이 이 여인에게 말씀하신 사람이니이까? 하니 그가 이르되, 내가 그니라, 하거늘 And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.
12 마노아가 이르되, 이제 당신의 말씀들이 이루어지기를 원하나이다. 우리가 이 아이에게 어떻게 지시하며 그에게 어떻게 행하오리이까? 하매 And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?
13 주의 천사가 마노아에게 이르되, 내가 이 여인에게 말한 모든 것에 그녀가 주의하여 And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
14 포도나무에서 나는 것은 무엇이든지 먹지 말고 포도즙이나 독주를 마시지 말며 또 부정한 것은 아무것도 먹지 말고 내가 그녀에게 명령한 모든 것을 지킬 것이니라, 하더라. She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
15 ¶마노아가 주의 천사에게 이르되, 원하건대 우리가 당신을 위해 염소 새끼 한 마리를 준비할 때까지 당신은 우리와 함께 머무소서, 하매 And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
16 주의 천사가 마노아에게 이르되, 네가 나를 머물게 하려 하나 내가 네 빵을 먹지 아니하리라. 네가 번제 헌물을 드리려거든 반드시 주께 드릴지니라, 하니라. 마노아는 그가 주의 천사인 줄 알지 못하였더라. And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the Lord. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the Lord.
17 마노아가 또 주의 천사에게 이르되, 당신의 이름은 무엇이니이까? 당신의 말씀이 이루어질 때에 우리가 당신을 존귀하게 하리이다, 하니 And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
18 주의 천사가 그에게 이르되, 내 이름이 은밀한 줄을 알면서 어찌하여 네가 이같이 내 이름을 묻느냐? 하니라. And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
19 이에 마노아가 염소 새끼 한 마리와 음식 헌물을 취하여 바위 위에서 주께 드리니 그 천사가 놀랍게 행하니라. 마노아와 그의 아내가 그것을 바라보더라. So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the Lord: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
20 불꽃이 제단에서부터 하늘로 올라갈 때에 주의 천사가 제단의 불꽃 가운데서 올라갔으므로 마노아와 그의 아내가 그것을 보고는 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드리니라. For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
21 그러나 주의 천사가 마노아와 그의 아내에게 더 나타나지 아니하매 이에 마노아가 그가 주의 천사인 줄 알고 But the angel of the Lord did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the Lord.
22 자기 아내에게 이르되, 우리가 하나님을 보았으니 반드시 죽으리로다, 하였으나 And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
23 그의 아내가 그에게 이르되, 주께서 우리를 죽이기를 기뻐하셨더라면 우리 손에서 번제 헌물과 음식 헌물을 받지 아니하셨을 것이요, 이 모든 일을 우리에게 보이지도 아니하시고 또한 지금처럼 이런 일들도 우리에게 말씀하지 아니하셨으리이다, 하였더라. But his wife said unto him, If the Lord were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
24 ¶그 여인이 아들을 낳고 그의 이름을 삼손이라 하니라. 그 아이가 자라매 주께서 그에게 복을 주셨더라. And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him.
25 소라와 에스다올 사이에 있는 단의 진영에서 주의 영께서 때때로 그를 감동시키기 시작하셨더라. And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.
