1 이 일 뒤에 다윗이 블레셋 사람들을 쳐서 정복하고 블레셋 사람들의 손에서 메덱암마를 빼앗으니라. And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg–ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
2 그가 또 모압을 쳐서 그들을 땅에 내던지고 줄로 재어 두 줄 길이의 사람은 죽이고 한 줄 길이의 사람은 살리니 이와 같이 모압 족속이 다윗의 종이 되어 예물을 가져오니라. And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
3 ¶르홉의 아들 소바 왕 하닷에셀이 유프라테스 강에서 자기의 경계를 회복하러 갈 때에 다윗이 또 그를 쳐서 David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
4 그에게서 병거 천 대와 기병 칠백 명과 보병 이만 명을 빼앗고 모든 병거의 말은 다리의 힘줄을 끊되 다만 그것들 중에서 백 대의 병거에 쓸 것만 남겼더라. And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.
5 다마스쿠스의 시리아 사람들이 소바 왕 하닷에셀을 구조하러 왔을 때에 다윗이 시리아 사람들 중에서 이만 이천 명을 죽이고 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
6 그 뒤에 다마스쿠스의 시리아에 수비대를 두매 시리아 사람들이 다윗의 종이 되어 예물을 가져오니라. 다윗이 어디를 가든지 주께서 그를 보존하시니라. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
7 다윗이 하닷에셀의 신하들에게 있던 금 방패들을 빼앗아 예루살렘으로 가져오고 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 또 하닷에셀의 도시 베다와 베로대에서 다윗 왕이 심히 많은 놋을 빼앗으니라. And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
9 ¶하맛 왕 도이가 다윗이 하닷에셀의 온 군대를 쳤다는 것을 듣고는 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,
10 그때에 자기 아들 요람을 다윗 왕에게 보내어 문안하고 그를 축복하게 하였으니 이는 하닷에셀이 도이와 전쟁을 하던 때에 그가 하닷에셀과 싸워 그를 쳤기 때문이더라. 요람이 은그릇과 금 그릇과 놋그릇을 가져왔으므로 Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
11 다윗 왕이 그것들도 주께 봉헌하되 자기가 정복한 모든 민족들에게서 취하여 봉헌한 은과 금 Which also king David did dedicate unto the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;
12 곧 시리아와 모압과 암몬 자손과 블레셋 사람들과 아말렉에게서 취한 것과 소바 왕 르홉의 아들 하닷에셀에게서 취한 노략물과 함께 봉헌하니라. Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13 다윗이 소금 골짜기에서 시리아 사람 만 팔천 명을 치고 돌아올 때에 이름을 떨치니라. And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.
14 ¶그가 에돔에 수비대를 두되 온 에돔에 두루 수비대를 두니 에돔의 모든 사람이 다윗의 종이 되니라. 다윗이 어디를 가든지 주께서 그를 보존하시니라. And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
15 다윗이 온 이스라엘을 통치하며 자기의 온 백성에게 판단의 공의와 정의를 집행하였더라. And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.
16 스루야의 아들 요압은 군대를 다스리는 자가 되고 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 기록관이 되며 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
17 아히둡의 아들 사독과 아비아달의 아들 아히멜렉은 제사장이 되고 스라야는 서기관이 되며 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;
18 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 그렛 족속과 블렛 족속을 다스리는 자가 되고 다윗의 아들들은 우두머리 치리자가 되니라. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief rulers.
