1 그때에 이스라엘의 모든 지파가 헤브론에 이르러 다윗에게 나아와 말하여 이르되, 보소서, 우리는 왕의 골육이니이다. Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2 또한 지나간 때 곧 사울이 우리를 다스리는 왕이었을 때에도 이스라엘을 나가게 하고 들어오게 하신 이는 왕이었고 주께서도 왕에게 말씀하시기를, 네가 내 백성 이스라엘을 먹이며 이스라엘을 다스릴 대장이 되리라, 하셨나이다, 하니라. Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
3 이에 이스라엘의 모든 장로가 헤브론에 이르러 왕에게 나아오매 다윗 왕이 헤브론에서 주 앞에서 그들과 동맹을 맺으니 그들이 다윗에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘을 다스릴 왕으로 삼으니라. So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 ¶다윗이 통치하기 시작할 때에 나이가 삼십 세였으며 그가 사십 년 동안 통치하되 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
5 헤브론에서 칠 년 육 개월 동안 유다를 통치하고 예루살렘에서 삼십삼 년 동안 온 이스라엘과 유다를 통치하였더라. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
6 ¶왕과 그의 사람들이 예루살렘으로 가서 그 땅의 거주민들인 여부스 족속에게 이르매 그들이 다윗에게 말하여 이르되, 네가 눈먼 자와 다리 저는 자를 없애지 아니하면 여기로 들어오지 못하리라, 하니라. 그들은 다윗이 여기로 들어오지 못할 줄로 생각하였더라. And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
7 그럼에도 불구하고 다윗이 시온의 강한 요새를 빼앗았는데 바로 그것이 다윗의 도시니라. Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.
8 그 날에 다윗이 이르기를, 누구든지 도랑에 올라가 여부스 족속을 치고 다윗의 혼이 미워하는 자 곧 다리 저는 자와 눈먼 자를 치는 자는 우두머리와 대장이 되리라, 하였으므로 그들이 이르기를, 눈먼 자와 다리 저는 자는 집에 들어오지 못하리라, 하였더라. And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
9 이처럼 다윗이 그 요새에 거하면서 그것을 다윗의 도시라 하고 밀로에서부터 또 안쪽으로 사방을 둘러 쌓으니라. So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
10 다윗이 나아가서 창대하게 되었고 주 만군의 하나님께서 그와 함께 계셨더라. And David went on, and grew great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.
11 ¶두로 왕 히람이 다윗에게 사자들과 백향목과 목수와 석공들을 보내매 그들이 다윗을 위하여 집을 지으니 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
12 다윗이 주께서 자기를 굳게 세우사 이스라엘을 다스릴 왕으로 삼으신 것과 또 그분께서 자신의 백성 이스라엘을 위하여 자기의 왕국을 높이신 것을 깨달으니라. And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
13 ¶다윗이 헤브론에서 올라온 뒤에 예루살렘에서 첩과 아내를 더 취하였으므로 거기서 아들딸들이 여전히 다윗에게 태어났는데 And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14 예루살렘에서 그에게 태어난 자들의 이름은 이러하니라. 삼무아와 소밥과 나단과 솔로몬과 And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15 또 입할과 엘리수아와 네벡과 야비아와 Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16 엘리사마와 엘리아다와 엘리발렛이더라. And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
17 ¶그러나 그들이 다윗에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘을 다스릴 왕으로 삼았다는 것을 블레셋 사람들이 듣고는 모든 블레셋 사람들이 다윗을 찾으러 올라오매 다윗이 그것을 듣고 요새로 내려가니 But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.
18 블레셋 사람들도 와서 르바임 골짜기에 퍼지니라. The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
19 다윗이 주께 여쭈어 이르되, 내가 블레셋 사람들에게로 올라가리이까? 주께서 그들을 내 손에 넘겨주시겠나이까? 하매 주께서 다윗에게 이르시되, 올라가라. 내가 반드시 블레셋 사람들을 네 손에 넘겨주리라, 하시니 And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
20 다윗이 바알브라심에 이르러 거기서 그들을 치고 이르되, 주께서 물을 터뜨리듯 내 앞에서 내 원수들을 치셨다, 하였으므로 그가 그곳의 이름을 바알브라심이라 부르니라. And David came to Baal–perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal–perazim.
21 거기서 그들이 자기들의 형상들을 버렸으므로 다윗과 그의 사람들이 그것들을 불태우니라. And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.
22 ¶블레셋 사람들이 여전히 다시 올라와 르바임 골짜기에 퍼지므로 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23 다윗이 주께 여쭈니 그분께서 이르시되, 너는 올라가지 말고 그들 뒤로 돌아서 뽕나무 수풀 맞은편에서 그들을 습격하되 And when David enquired of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
24 뽕나무 수풀 꼭대기에서 누군가가 가는 소리를 듣거든 재빨리 움직이라. 그때에 주가 너보다 앞서 나가서 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 치리라, 하시니라. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
25 다윗이 주께서 자기에게 명령하신 대로 행하여 게바에서부터 네가 게셀에 이르기까지 블레셋 사람들을 치니라. And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
