- 1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vaine that build it: except the Lord keepe the citie, the watchman waketh but in vaine.
- 2 It is vaine for you to rise vp early, to sit vp late, to eate the bread of sorrowes: for so hee giueth his beloued sleepe.
- 3 Loe, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the wombe is his reward.
- 4 As arrowes are in the hand of a mightie man: so are children of the youth.
- 5 Happie is the man that hath his quiuer full of them, they shall not be ashamed: but they shall speake with the enemies in the gate.
