1	도둑이 집을 뚫고 들어오는 것을 보고 때려죽였을 경우에는 그 사람에게 죄가 없다.	If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2	그러나 해가 이미 떠오른 후에 그런 일이 생겼으면 죽인 사람에게 책임이 있다. 훔친 것은 반드시 다 갚아야 한다. 갚을 것이 없는 자는 제 몸을 팔아서라도 훔친 물건의 값을 물어주어야 한다.	If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
3	훔친 물건이 황소든 나귀든 양이든 아직 산 채로 그의 수중에 있으면 그것을 갑절로 배상해야 한다.	If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4	손해 배상에 관한 법령 자기 밭이나 포도원에서 풀을 뜯기던 가축을 풀어놓아 남의 밭 곡식을 뜯어먹게 하였을 경우에는 그 밭의 소출을 보상해야 한다. 밭곡식을 모두 뜯어먹었을 경우에는 자기 밭에서 제일 좋은 소출과 자기 포도원에서 제일 좋은 소출을 거두어 배상해야 한다.	If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
5	불이 나서 가시덤불에 당겨 남의 낟가리나 베지 않은 곡식이나 남의 밭을 태웠을 경우에는, 불을 낸 자가 그것을 모두 배상해야 한다.	If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
6	어떤 사람이 자기 이웃에게 돈이나 물건을 맡겼다가 그 집에서 도둑을 맞았을 경우, 그 도둑이 잡히면 그에게서 갑절로 배상을 받는다.	If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
7	그러나 도둑이 잡히지 않았을 경우에는 그 집 주인이 하느님 앞에 가서, 이웃 사람의 물건에 손을 대지 않았음을 맹세해야 한다.	If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
8	소나 나귀나 양이나 겉옷이나 그 밖에 무엇을 잃어버렸든지 간에 잃은 사람이 누구의 것을 보고 그것이 바로 자기의 것이라고 나서면, 이 두 사람의 소송은 하느님께 판결을 받아야 한다. 하느님께 패소 판결을 받은 쪽이 상대방에게 갑절로 배상해야 한다.	If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.
9	어떤 사람이 자기 이웃에게 나귀나 소나 양이나 그 밖에 어떤 가축이든 간에 지켜달라고 맡겼다가, 그것이 죽거나 다리가 부러졌거나 아무도 모르게 끌려갔을 경우에는	For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
10	맡았던 사람이 이웃의 물건에 손을 대지 않았음을 야훼 앞에서 맹세하는 것으로 두 사람 사이의 시비를 가려야 한다. 임자는 남은 것만 받고 배상은 받지 못한다.	If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
11	그러나 맡았던 것이 자기 집에서 도둑 맞았음이 확실하면 임자에게 배상해 주어야 한다.	Then shall an oath of the Lord be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
12	만일 그것이 짐승에게 찢겨 죽은 경우에는 그 증거물을 가져다 보이고 그 찢겨 죽은 것은 보상하지 않아도 된다.	And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
13	어떤 사람이 이웃에게서 짐승을 빌려왔다가 다리가 부러졌거나 죽었을 경우에는, 그 임자가 같이 있지 않았다면 반드시 보상하여야 한다.	If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.
14	임자가 부리다가 그렇게 되었으면 보상하지 않아도 된다. 임자가 품을 팔다가 그렇게 되었으면 품값은 계산해 주어야 한다.	And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
15	처녀를 범한 자에 관한 법령 어떤 사람이 아직 약혼하지 않은 처녀를 꾀어 범했을 경우에는 납폐금을 모두 지불하고, 그 처녀를 아내로 맞아들여야 한다.	But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
16	그 처녀의 아버지가 자기 딸을 그에게 절대로 못 주겠다고 하면 그는 처녀를 맞을 때 내는 납폐금과 맞먹는 금액을 물어야 한다.	And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
17	기타 사형에 처할 죄인 요술쟁이 여인은 살려두지 못한다.	If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
18	짐승과 교접하는 자는 반드시 사형에 처하여야 한다.	Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
19	다른 신들에게 제사를 드리는 자는 죽여야 한다. 제사는 야훼께만 드려야 한다.	Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
20	약자 보호법 너희는 너희에게 몸붙여 사는 사람을 구박하거나 학대하지 마라. 너희도 이집트 땅에서 몸붙여 살지 않았느냐?	He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
21	과부와 고아를 괴롭히지 마라.	Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22	너희가 그들을 괴롭혀 그들이 나에게 울부짖어 호소하면, 나는 반드시 그 호소를 들어주리라.	Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
23	나는 분노를 터뜨려 너희를 칼에 맞아 죽게 하리라. 그리하면 너희 아내는 과부가 되고, 너희 아들은 고아가 될 것이다.	If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;
24	너희 가운데 누가 어렵게 사는 나의 백성에게 돈을 꾸어주게 되거든 그에게 채권자 행세를 하거나 이자를 받지 마라.	And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25	만일 너희가 이웃에게서 겉옷을 담보로 잡거든 해가 지기 전에 반드시 돌려주어야 한다.	If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
26	덮을 것이라고는 그것밖에 없고, 몸을 가릴 것이라고는 그 겉옷뿐인데 무엇을 덮고 자겠느냐? 그가 나에게 호소하면 자애로운 나는 그 호소를 들어주지 않을 수 없다.	If thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:
27	종교 의무 너희는 하느님께 욕되는 말을 하거나 너희 백성의 지도자에게 악담을 하지 못한다.	For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
28	너희는 타작한 첫 곡식과 술틀에서 나온 포도즙은 미루지 말고 바쳐야 하며 너희 맏아들을 나에게 바쳐야 한다.	Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
29	너희 소나 양도 그렇게 하여야 한다. 이레 동안은 어미 품에 두었다가 여드렛날에는 나에게 바쳐야 한다.	Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
30	너희는 나를 섬기는 거룩한 백성이다. 그러니 들에서 맹수에게 찢긴 짐승의 고기를 먹지 마라. 그런 것은 개에게나 던져주어라.	Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.
31	—	And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
