1	무엇이나 때가 있다 무엇이나 다 정한 때가 있다. 하늘 아래서 벌어지는 무슨 일이나 다 때가 있다.	To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2	날 때가 있으면 죽을 때가 있고 심을 때가 있으면 뽑을 때가 있다.	A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3	죽일 때가 있으면 살릴 때가 있고 허물 때가 있으면 세울 때가 있다.	A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4	울 때가 있으면 웃을 때가 있고 애곡할 때가 있으면 춤출 때가 있다.	A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5	연장을 쓸 때가 있으면 써서 안될 때가 있고 서로 껴안을 때가 있으면 그만둘 때가 있다.	A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6	모아들일 때가 있으면 없앨 때가 있고 건사할 때가 있으면 버릴 때가 있다.	A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7	찢을 때가 있으면 기울 때가 있고 입을 열 때가 있으면 입을 다물 때가 있다.	A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8	사랑할 때가 있으면 미워할 때가 있고 싸움이 일어날 때가 있으면 평화를 누릴 때가 있다.	A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9	그러니 사람이 애써 수고하는 일이 무슨 소용이 있겠는가?	What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10	그래서 하느님께서 사람에게 시키신 일을 생각해 보았더니,	I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11	하느님께서는 모든 것이 제 때에 알맞게 맞아 들어가도록 만드셨더라. 그러나 하느님께서 사람에게 역사의 수수께끼를 풀고 싶은 마음을 주셨지만, 하느님께서 어떻게 일을 시작하여 어떻게 일을 끝내실지 아는 사람은 하나도 없다는 것을 나는 알았다.	He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12	결국 좋은 것은 살아 있는 동안 잘살며 즐기는 것밖에 없다는 것을 깨달은 것이다.	I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13	사람은 모름지기 수고한 보람으로 먹고 마시며 즐겁게 지낼 일이다. 이것이 바로 하느님의 선물이다.	And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14	하느님께서 하시는 일은 모두가 한결같아서 누가 보탤 수도 뺄 수도 없는 노릇이라, 사람은 하느님께서 하시는 일을 보고 다만 그의 앞에서 두려움을 느낄 수밖에 없음을 나는 깨달았다.	I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
15	무슨 일이 일어나도 그 일은 전에 있던 일이요, 앞으로 있을 어떤 일도 전에 있던 일이라, 하느님께서 하시는 일은 마냥 그 일의 되풀이에 지나지 않는다.	That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
16	그뿐만 아니라 공평무사하게 정의가 이루어져야 할 세상에 불의가 판치는 것을 나는 또 보았다.	And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
17	사람이 무슨 생각으로 무슨 일을 하든지 다 하느님께서 때를 정하시고 누가 옳고 누가 그른지를 심판하신다는 생각이 들었다.	I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
18	사람이란 본디가 짐승과 조금도 다를 것이 없다는 것을 하느님께서 밝히 보여주신다는 생각이 들었다.	I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19	사람의 운명은 짐승의 운명과 다를 바 없어 사람도 짐승도 같은 숨을 쉬다가 같은 죽음을 당하는 것을! 이렇게 모든 것은 헛되기만 한데 사람이 짐승보다 나을 것이 무엇인가!	For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20	다 같은 데로 가는 것을! 다 티끌에서 왔다가 티끌로 돌아가는 것을!	All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21	사람의 숨은 위로 올라가고 짐승의 숨은 땅 속으로 내려간다고 누가 장담하랴!	Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
22	그러니 제 손으로 수고해 얻은 것을 즐기는 것밖에 좋은 일이 없다. 그것이 사람마다 누릴 몫이다. 죽은 다음에 어찌 될지를 알려줄 자 어디 있는가!	Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
