절	공동번역 개정판 (1999)	King James Version
1	에페소 교회에 보내는 말씀 에페소 교회 천사에게 이 글을 써서 보내어라. 오른손에 일곱 별을 쥐시고 일곱 황금등경 사이를 거니시는 분이 말씀하신다.	Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2	'나는 네가 한 일과 네 수고와 인내를 잘 알고 있다. 또 네가 악한 자들을 용납할 수 없었으며 사도가 아니면서 사도를 사칭하는 자들을 시험하여 그들의 허위를 가려낸 일도 잘 알고 있다.	I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
3	너는 잘 참고 내 이름을 위해서 견디어냈으며 낙심하는 일이 없었다.	And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4	그러나 너에게 나무랄 것이 한 가지 있다. 그것은 네가 처음에 지녔던 사랑을 버린 것이다.	Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5	그러므로 네가 어디에서 빗나갔는지를 생각하여 뉘우치고, 처음에 하던 일들을 다시 하여라. 만일 그렇지 않고 뉘우치지 않으면 내가 가서 너의 등경을 그 자리에서 치워버리겠다.	Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
6	그러나 네가 잘하는 일이 한 가지 있다. 너는 니골라오파의 소행을 미워하고 있다. 나도 그것을 미워한다.	But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7	귀 있는 자는 성령께서 여러 교회에 하시는 말씀을 들어야 한다. 나는 승리하는 자들에게 하느님의 낙원에 있는 생명나무의 열매를 먹게 하겠다.'	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
8	스미르나 교회에 보내는 말씀 또 스미르나 교회의 천사에게 이 글을 써서 보내어라. 처음이고 마지막이며 죽었었지만 살아 계신 분이 말씀하신다.	And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
9	'나는 네가 겪은 환난과 궁핍을 잘 알고 있다. 그러나 사실 너는 부요하다. 네가 유다인으로 자칭하는 자들에게 비방을 당하고 있는 것도 나는 잘 알고 있다. 그러나 그들은 유다인이 아니라 사탄의 무리이다.	I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
10	네가 장차 당할 고통을 조금도 두려워하지 마라. 이제 악마가 너희를 시험하기 위하여 너희 중 몇 사람을 감옥에 가두려 하고 있다. 너희는 열흘 동안 환난을 당하게 될 것이다. 그러나 너는 죽기까지 충성을 다하여라. 그러면 내가 생명의 월계관을 너에게 씌워주겠다.	Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
11	귀 있는 자는 성령께서 여러 교회에 하시는 말씀을 들어야 한다. 승리하는 자는 결코 두 번째 죽음의 화를 입지 않을 것이다.'	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
12	베르가모 교회에 보내는 말씀 베르가모 교회의 천사에게 이 글을 써서 보내어라. 날카로운 쌍날칼을 가지신 분이 말씀하신다.	And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
13	'나는 네가 어디에 살고 있는지 잘 알고 있다. 그 곳은 사탄의 왕좌가 있는 곳이다. 그러나 너는 내 이름을 굳건히 믿고 있다. 또 나의 진실한 증인 안디바스가 사탄이 살고 있는 그 곳에서 죽임을 당하던 날에도 너는 나에 대한 믿음을 저버리지 않았다.	I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14	그러나 나는 너에게 몇 가지 나무랄 것이 있다. 너희 중에는 발람의 가르침을 따르는 자들이 있다. 발람은 발락을 사주해서 이스라엘 자손을 죄짓게 하였고 우상에게 바쳤던 제물을 먹게 하였으며 음란한 짓을 하게 하였던 자다.	But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15	또 너희 중에도 니골라오파의 가르침을 따르는 자들이 있다.	So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
16	그러므로 뉘우쳐라. 만일 뉘우치지 않으면 내가 속히 너에게 가서 내 입에서 나오는 칼을 가지고 그들과 싸우겠다.	Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17	귀 있는 자는 성령께서 여러 교회에 하시는 말씀을 들어야 한다. 승리하는 사람에게는 감추어둔 만나를 주겠고 또 흰 돌도 주겠다. 그 돌 위에는 새로운 이름이 적혀 있는데, 그 이름은 그 돌을 받는 사람밖에는 아무도 알지 못한다.'	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
18	티아디라 교회에 보내는 말씀 티아디라 교회의 천사에게 이 글을 써서 보내어라. 불꽃 같은 눈과 놋쇠 같은 발을 가지신 분, 곧 하느님의 아들이 말씀하신다.	And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19	'나는 네가 한 일들을 잘 알고 있고 네 사랑과 믿음과 봉사와 인내를 알고 있다. 또 네가 처음보다 나중에 더 많은 일을 하고 있다는 것도 나는 알고 있다.	I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20	그러나 너에게 나무랄 것이 있다. 너는 이세벨이라는 여자를 용납하고 있다. 그 여자는 예언자로 자처하며 내 종들을 잘못 가르쳐서 미혹하게 했고 음란한 짓을 하게 했으며 우상에게 바쳤던 제물을 먹게 하였다.	Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21	나는 그 여자에게 뉘우칠 시간을 주었지만 그 여자는 자기의 음행을 뉘우치려고 하지 않는다.	And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22	이제 나는 그 여자를 고통의 침상에 던지겠다. 그리고 그 여자와 간음하는 자들도 뉘우치지 않고 그와 같은 음란한 행위를 계속한다면 큰 환난 속에 던져버리겠다.	Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23	그리고 그 여자의 자녀들을 죽여버리겠다. 그러면 모든 교회는 내가 사람의 생각과 마음을 꿰뚫어 보고 있다는 것을 알게 될 것이다. 나는 너희가 각각 행한 대로 갚아주겠다.	And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24	그러나 티아디라에 있는 사람들 중에서 그 여자의 가르침을 받아들이지 않은 사람들, 곧 사탄의 비밀을 배우지 않은 나머지 사람들에게 나는 이렇게 말한다. 나는 너희에게 다른 짐을 지우지 않겠으니	But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25	다만 내가 올 때까지 너희가 가지고 있는 것을 단단히 간직하고 있어라.	But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26	승리하는 자, 곧 나의 일을 끝까지 수행하는 자에게는, 여러 민족을 다스릴 권세를 주겠다.	And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27	그는 쇠지팡이로 질그릇을 부수듯이 그들을 다스릴 것이다.	And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28	이것은 마치 내가 내 아버지께로부터 받은 권세로 다스리는 것과 같은 것이다. 승리하는 자에게는 내가 샛별을 주겠다.	And I will give him the morning star.
29	귀 있는 자는 성령께서 여러 교회에 하시는 말씀을 들어야 한다.'	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
