1	엘리사의 한 제자가 예후를 기름 부어 왕으로 세우다 예언자 엘리사가 한 예언자 수련생을 불러 일렀다. "허리를 동이고 이 기름병을 가지고 라못길르앗으로 가거라.	And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramoth–gilead:
2	가서 님시의 손자이며 여호사밧의 아들인 예후를 찾아라. 그를 찾거든 동료 지휘관들 가운데서 불러내어 골방으로 데리고 들어가	And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;
3	이 병을 열고 그의 머리 위에 기름을 부으며 이 말씀을 전하여라. '나 야훼가 선언한다. 내가 너에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘을 다스릴 왕으로 세운다.' 그렇게 한 후에 문을 열고 네가 할 수 있는 대로 빨리 도망쳐 오너라."	Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.
4	그 젊은 예언자는 라못길르앗으로 갔다.	So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramoth–gilead.
5	거기 이르러 마침 군지휘관들이 함께 앉아 있는 것을 보았다. 그는 "장교님께 드릴 말씀이 있습니다." 하고 말하였다. 예후가 "우리들 가운데 누구 말인가?" 하고 물었다. 그가 대답했다. "바로 장교님입니다."	And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.
6	예후가 일어나서 안으로 들어갔다. 예언자는 그의 머리에 기름을 붓고 말씀을 전하였다. "이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 선언하십니다. '내가 너에게 기름을 부어 야훼의 백성을 다스릴 이스라엘 왕으로 세운다.	And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel.
7	내가 이세벨의 손에 죽은 예언자들뿐 아니라 나의 모든 종들의 원수를 갚으리라. 그러니 너는 네가 섬기던 아합의 가문을 쳐부수어라.	And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, at the hand of Jezebel.
8	내가 아합 가문에 속한 사내 녀석들은 종이든 자유인이든 씨도 남기지 않고 쓸어버리리라. 그리하면 아합의 온 가문이 망하리라.	For the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:
9	나는 아합의 가문을 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 가문이나 아히야의 아들 바아사의 가문처럼 만들리라.	And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah:
10	이세벨의 시체는 묻어주는 사람이 없어, 이즈르엘에 있는 제 땅에 버려져 개들이 뜯어먹을 것이다.'" 그리고 나서 젊은이는 문을 열고 도망하였다.	And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
11	예후가 동료 장교들이 있는 데로 나오자 그들이 물었다. "좋은 일이오? 그 미친 녀석이 왜 왔었소?" 그는 "그가 무엇하는 사람인지 잘 알면서 뭘 그러시오?" 하고 대답하였다.	Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.
12	그들은 "속이지 마시오. 자, 무슨 일이 있었소? 털어놓으시오." 하고 소리쳤다. 예후는 그가 이러저러하게 말하더라고 하면서 그가 전해 준 야훼의 말씀을 일러주었다. "나 야훼가 선언한다. 내가 너에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘을 다스릴 왕으로 세운다."	And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel.
13	이 말을 듣고 그들은 재빨리 겉옷을 벗어 돌층계에 깔고는 예후를 그 위에 모시고 나팔을 불며, "예후가 왕이 되셨다!" 하고 외쳤다.	Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.
14	예후의 반역:요람, 아하지야, 이세벨의 죽음 님시의 손자이며 여호사밧의 아들인 예후는 요람을 뒤엎을 계획을 꾸몄다. 마침 요람이 이스라엘 전군을 이끌고 시리아 왕 하자엘을 맞아 라못길르앗을 지키려고	So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept Ramoth–gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.
15	시리아 군과 싸우다가 상처를 입고 이즈르엘에 돌아와 치료를 받고 있을 때였다. "이것이 그대들의 소원이라면, 아무도 이 성에서 빠져 나가 이즈르엘에 연통하러 가지 못하게 하시오." 예후는 동료 장교들에게 이렇게 말하고 나서	But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.
16	자기의 병거를 타고 곧장 이즈르엘로 달렸다. 그 때 이즈르엘에는 요람이 앓아 누워 있었고 마침 유다 왕 아하지야가 문병차 와 있었다.	So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.
17	이즈르엘의 망대에 서 있던 보초가 예후의 부대가 오는 것을 보고 "웬 부대가 오고 있습니다." 하고 보고하자, 요람은 "기마병을 하나 보내어 나가서 만나 아군인지 알아오게 하여라." 하고 지시하였다.	And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
18	기마병이 나가서 예후를 만나 물었다. "어명이오. 무슨 일이 있소?" 예후가 대답하였다. "무슨 일이 있건 말건 네가 무슨 상관이냐? 내 뒤나 따라오너라." 보초가 "알아보러 간 자가 돌아오지 않습니다." 하고 보고하였다.	So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
19	왕은 다시 기마병 하나를 보냈다. 그도 그들을 만나 물었다. "어명이오. 무슨 일이 있소?" 예후가 대답하였다. "무슨 일이 있건 말건 네가 무슨 상관이냐? 내 뒤나 따라오너라."	Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.
20	그러자 보초가 또 보고하였다. "간 자가 돌아오지 않습니다. 말을 미친 듯이 몰아오는 품이 님시의 아들 예후 같습니다."	And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.
21	이 말을 듣고 요람은 당장 병거를 준비하라고 지시하였다. 병거가 준비되자 이스라엘 왕 요람과 유다 왕 아하지야는 각기 자기 병거를 타고 예후를 만나러 나갔다. 그들은 이즈르엘 나봇의 땅에서 예후를 만났다.	And Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22	요람이 예후를 만나자마자 물었다. "예후 장군, 잘 되어가오?" 그가 대답하였다. "네 어미 이세벨이 우상을 섬기며 음란을 피우고 밤낮으로 마술이나 일삼고 있는데 잘 되어가느냐가 다 무슨 소리냐?"	And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
23	요람은 병거를 돌려 도망치며 아하지야 왕에게 "아하지야 왕, 반역이오." 하고 소리쳤다.	And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.
24	예후는 화살을 메겨 요람의 등을 겨누고 쏘았다. 화살은 그의 가슴을 뚫었다. 그가 병거 바닥에 거꾸러지자,	And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.
25	예후는 요람의 부관 비드칼에게 말하였다. "그를 끌어내어 이즈르엘 나봇의 땅에 내던져라. 그대와 내가 요람의 아비 아합의 뒤에 서서 어깨를 나란히 하고 한 병거를 타고 다닐 때 야훼께서 그에게 내리신 선고를 잊지 않았겠지.	Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the Lord laid this burden upon him;
26	'나 야훼가 선언한다. 나는 지난날 나봇과 그의 아들들이 억울한 피를 흘리는 것을 보았다. 내가 바로 이 밭에서 원수를 갚으리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다.' 하시지 않았느냐?" 그래서 그는 요람의 시체를 끌어내어 그 곳에 던졌다. 이렇게 야훼의 말씀이 이루어졌다.	Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the Lord; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the Lord. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of the Lord.
27	유다 왕 아하지야는 일이 돌아가는 것을 보고 벳하깐 길로 도망쳤다. 예후는 그의 뒤를 추적하며 "저놈도 쳐죽여라." 하고 명령하였다. 아하지야는 병거를 타고 이블르암 근처의 고갯길을 달리다가 화살을 맞아 상처를 입고 므기또로 도망하였으나 거기에서 죽었다.	But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.
28	그의 부하들이 시체를 병거에 실어 예루살렘으로 옮겨다가 다윗 성에 있는 왕실 묘지에 안장하였다.	And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.
29	아하지야가 유다 왕위에 오른 것은 아합의 아들 요람 제십일년이었다.	And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.
30	예후가 이즈르엘에 이르렀을 때, 이세벨은 소식을 듣고 눈화장을 하고 머리를 손질한 다음 창가에 서서 내려다보다가	And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.
31	예후가 문에 들어서자 소리쳤다. "상전을 죽인 역적 지므리 놈아, 그래 일이 잘 되었느냐?"	And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?
32	예후가 창을 쳐다보며 말하였다. "거기 내 편을 들 자가 아무도 없느냐?" 그러자 내시 두엇이 창 밖으로 머리를 내밀고 내려다보았다.	And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.
33	예후가 소리쳤다. "그 계집을 떨어뜨려라." 내시들이 그 여자를 떨어뜨리자 피가 담벽과 말에 뛰었다. 예후가 탄 말이 그 몸을 짓밟았다.	And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
34	예후는 안에 들어가서 먹고 마시다가 입을 열었다. "그 저주받은 계집을 찾아다가 묻어주어라. 그래도 왕의 딸인데."	And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.
35	그러나 그들이 여자를 묻어주러 나가보니 해골과 손발만이 남아 있었다.	And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.
36	그들이 돌아와 예후에게 보고하니 그는 "야훼께서 당신의 종 디스베 사람 엘리야를 시켜 하신 말씀이 그대로 이루어졌구나." 하며 이렇게 말하였다. "이즈르엘의 밭에서 개들이 이세벨의 시체를 먹을 것이라고 하시더니,	Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:
37	이세벨의 시체가 이즈르엘의 밭에 똥같이 굴러다녀 아무도 그것이 이세벨이라는 것을 모르게 되리라고 하시더니, 기어이 그렇게 되고 말았구나."	And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
