절	공동번역 개정판 (1999)	King James Version
1	아달리야 아하지야의 어머니 아달리야는 자기의 아들이 죽은 것을 보고 곧 왕의 혈육을 모두 죽이기 시작하였다.	And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
2	이 때 다른 왕자들은 모두 살해되었으나 아하지야의 아들 요아스만은 그의 고모인 여호세바가 몰래 빼내어 유모와 함께 자기 침실에 숨겨두었으므로 아달리야에게 발각되지 않아 죽음을 면하게 되었다.	But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.
3	아달리야가 나라를 다스리는 육 년 동안 요아스는 고모와 함께 야훼의 전에 숨어 살았다.	And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.
4	칠 년째 되던 해에 여호야다가 가리 외인부대의 백인대장들과 근위대 대장들을 야훼의 전으로 불러들여 맹세를 시켜 계약을 맺은 다음, 그들에게 왕자를 내세우고는	And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the king’s son.
5	이렇게 지시하였다. "너희는 이렇게 하여라. 너희 가운데 안식일 당번인 자의 삼분의 일은 왕궁을 지키고,	And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;
6	나머지는 야훼의 성전에서 특별임무를 수행하는데, 삼분의 일은 수르 문을 지키고 삼분의 일은 근위대 뒤쪽 문을 지켜라.	And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.
7	너희 안식일 비번인 두 부대는 야훼의 성전에서 왕을 지켜라.	And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.
8	모두들 무기를 가지고 왕을 호위하여라. 그리하여 누구든지 대열에 접근하는 자는 죽여라. 왕께서 어디로 행차하시든지 꼭 곁에서 모셔야 한다."	And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.
9	백인대장들은 사제 여호야다가 지시한 대로 하였다. 그들은 각기 자기의 부하들, 곧 안식일에 당번인 군인들과 안식일에 비번인 군인들을 거느리고 사제 여호야다에게 나왔다.	And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
10	사제는 야훼의 전에 보관되어 있는 다윗 왕의 창과 방패를 부대장들에게 지급하였다.	And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the Lord.
11	근위대 군인들은 모두 무기를 잡고 성전 남쪽에서 북쪽까지 시립하여 제단과 성전을 에워쌌다.	And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.
12	그 때 여호야다가 왕자를 데리고 나와서 면류관을 씌우고 왕으로서 지킬 법을 주면서 기름을 부어 왕으로 세웠다. 그러자 백성들은 손뼉을 치며 "임금님 만세!"를 외쳤다.	And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.
13	아달리야가 백성들의 소리를 듣고 백성이 모인 야훼의 전으로 가보니,	And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the Lord.
14	왕이 관례를 따라 기둥 옆에 서 있고 그 곁에서 사람들이 나팔을 불며 노래하고 있었다. 나팔 소리가 울려 퍼지는 가운데 온 지방민이 기뻐 뛰는 것을 보고 아달리야는 옷을 찢으며 "반역이다, 반역이다!" 하고 외쳤다.	And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.
15	그 때 사제 여호야다가 백인대장들에게 명령하였다. "저 계집을 울 밖으로 끌어내어라. 따르는 자가 있거든 칼로 쳐죽여라. 그를 야훼의 전 안에서 죽여서는 안 된다."	But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the Lord.
16	그러자 군인들은 그 여자를 붙잡아 군마가 출입하는 문으로 해서 궁궐에 들어가 거기에서 죽였다.	And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.
17	그런 다음 여호야다는 이스라엘 백성이 야훼의 백성이 되는 계약을 야훼와 왕과 백성들 사이에서 맺고 또 왕과 백성들 사이에도 계약을 맺었다.	And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.
18	온 지방민들이 몰려가 바알 신전을 허물고 그 제단과 우상을 산산조각으로 부수었다. 그리고 바알의 사제 마딴을 제단 앞에서 죽였다. 여호야다 사제는 야훼의 전에 경비병을 세우고	And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.
19	백인대장들과 가리 외인부대와 근위대와 온 지방민을 이끌고 왕을 호위하여 야훼의 전에서 나와 근위대 문을 통과하여 왕궁으로 갔다. 거기에서 왕이 옥좌에 오르자,	And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
20	온 지방민들은 기뻐서 뛰는데 수도 시민들은 아무 소리도 하지 못했다. 이렇게 아달리야는 대궐에서 칼에 맞아 죽었다.	And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.
21	—	Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.
